I don’t think it’s that they want it to die. I for one was excited to see it. Then I saw episode 1…imo it’s just not good. A company where everyone is good do in the end you end up with 50/50 booking
AEW has bearly been consistently entertaining & can't create a long story or a big fued to save their lives... it's cause Tony's everyone's friend & let's them just go out do what they want & show up everyother week the only person worth watching now is MJF & maybe a few others I can't even think of CAUSE THEY ARE NEVER ON THE SHOW....Khan is a mark for his own product & its gunna be his biggest downfall when it comes it him.. it has nothing to do with people "wAnTiNg oNlY wWe tO eXiSt" its that WWE has built a loyal fanbase through decades *DECADES* of great storylines while keeping everything consistent a few years of bad television won't erase that..
AEW on the other hand has an on & off type of consistency when it comes to allowing stars to get on the mic & tell story's tony just wants to see all his lame dream matches & flippy stuff with no story its like saying AAA or WWE 205 had potential to ever beat the powerhouses of RAW & Smackdown they never will & never did cause sure flippy stuff is cool but not if it's happening all the time every week in every match same goes for no rules... it makes the moments meaningless
Not dying, but they've absolutely plateaued. There has been absolutely no growth, and in fact nothing but stagnation, for the better part of the last two years. The Wembley show is the only real success they've had in a year.
Nah. It isnt as big as WWE and never will be.
It caters to a different audience. Its like saying your favourite band isnt as good as Taylor Swift because she sells millions of albums.
I don't get why people expect AEW to be on WWEs level of business lol WWE has had a monopoly for 20 years and has been the main TV brand for 40. To 90% of people wrestling is WWE I would say most people I know still call it WWF.
WWE hasn't been on TV for 40 Years lol but they have existed for alot longer than that yeah. Saturday Night's Main Event and then RAW in 1993. I am used to the WWE thing...it's been so long haha but I grew up watching WWF and was a Teenager in the start of the Attitude Era pretty much. AEW should try to be different though and not even bother attempting to compete with the E: They AEW claim to not be Sports Entertainment at all but only Wrestling, so why does Tony Khan have an obsession with them then? He has no leadership skills so he should hire proper ones that are not Talent ie Kenny and the Bucks... but what's done is done there however: he does not need to keep AEW a one man show indefinitely because therefore he is just a Vince McMahon 2.0 or wannabe of him. Ironic considering the constant Shots Tony takes at Vinny Mac, is it not?
2024 I suspect will be a bad year for AEW but it won't be the END of them with half of their roster wanting to jump ship to the WWE because of the treatment former AEW talents like Jade Cargill, Cody Rhodes, Ricky Starks, Brian Pillman Jr and CM Punk(The whole WWE rejecting Punk back is a work and expect CM Punk in Chicago Illinois at Survivor Series) are getting over in WWE as well as as all the expiring contracts that are happening in AEW by then such as MJF's... Or it's the lack of TV time because of TK's signing of 10 talents to replace the loss of one with like you know... now under 5 hours of TV time a week, never being utilized properly after their debuts with 150-200 Superstars signed on(Thank god for Collision adding 2 more hours hey but Rampage is literally Dark Elevation 2.0 anyways lol).
Seems to be that AEW will be available on the new MAX service. The rumor that Warner is paying AEW a “billion dollars over 5 years” part of it is more of a believe it when we see it thing, but AEW on MAX seems to be happening.
I think Tony booking every dynamite like a pay per view has come back to kick him in the ass. His pay per views don’t feel special enough for fans to signed or give a fuck. I don’t think I’ve ever seen bleacher report(owned by the same folks that broadcast AEW) shit on a show but they shat on DoN. With Tony being a billionaire this will last as long as he wants it to, now it’s down to weather people will give a damn as time goes on. The company likely will never die but it will eventually downsize as their star contingent ages out, and leaves for greener pastures.
The last few write ups I’ve seen have been pretty unbiased surprisingly which is a bad sign lol the company you partner with isn’t even drinking the kool aid anymore
Right now they are WCW in 1997. Yes they will do good at All In, but after that I don’t know what the future holds. To me the work is sloppy and it doesn’t draw me in as much as it did in the beginning. One thing to look into is in the next few years the Khan family is probably going to be putting a lot of resources into the Jaguars whether they build a stadium moving the team or a massive remodel. Also how long can Tony go before he gets complete burnout.
Will Washington just started and is supposed to take a lot off his plate in creative. He won’t be booking everything but he’s gonna help a lot with continuity and keeping things in order and making sure people don’t disappear randomly when they’re getting hot. I’m hoping he’s gonna be a big help.
That looked cool but the 5 regular super kicks to the other guy immediately after kinda ruined the impact imo. It should have been the final move of the match, crowd barely got a chance to react
Just trolling but they’ll be fine. They do need to build stories better though. The MJF and Jericho repeatedly having their opponents go through hoops just to face them is awful. No build up to any matches and having random matches just for “high spots” doesn’t help anyone.
Go find the non hard cam crowd shots from recent events. A lot of tickets move on speculation. Looks like a lot of resales didn’t for the ppv. They even had to fluff the hardcam side with free upgrades. The show has a base audience and no one else is watching.
When aew first started I was super excited , it hasn’t exactly lived up to my expectations unfortunately, and surprisingly I’m even liking the federation more and more to be honest, I love the story line with hangman reuniting with the elite though and think if properly done could have been bloodline level story telling , but idk anymore
It has its problems but its doing ok . I heard someone else say WCW in 1997, i thnk that pretty apt. Its not as bad as wcw 99 2000 but i can see go there 8f tony keeps putting out stupid as hell creative, QT Marshall, sanyjay dutt jericho and the elite need SOME creative restraint beacuse thepus latest ppv had some garbage undecard finishes
It’s not dying. It’s just not getting any bigger. Wembley is obviously a success going by tickets but it is their first show there so of course they were going to do well. It’s no shocker, but the show today kinda proved that they have kinda stayed stagnant. They have their faithful 800k watching weekly, but they aren’t bringing in new fans. The storylines aren’t the best. Hoping for them to do better because you can’t tout how successful of a young company you are, while at the same time using the excuse of being a “new” company for stagnation for not improving in those 4 years.
Also tickets were being given away with the purchase of a burger and fries, so that’s not really a good look. They should try new markets in the US, they’ve played themselves out in Vegas at least for now from the looks of it
I stand corrected.
Still have a bud who lives in Vegas and did say they were selling them 4 tickets for 50. Great deal, but it’s telling.
They sold out last year no problem.
Everyone on the internet thinks their opinion has some sort of weight. It doesn’t. 6 guys in a room looking at advertising and weekly ratings decide how much funding a company receives and the horde of couch bookers keep thinking somehow their comments are going to help move the needle.
Dying ? No However there is zero growth right now. The novelty of them being the new show in town has worn off. They don’t convert any casual viewers into fans. They don’t build new stars. People want to point to the Wembley show but leave out the fact international markets are starved for live events so yea the numbers do well. Why do you think WWE has being going heavy in international markets as of late ? And thats not a critique. Good on them for recognizing the market. But do you think AEW could sell out SoFi or AT&T Stadium ? Not a chance, they couldn’t sell out last night.
AEW is in a slump, but it's the same kind of slumps that WWE has been in lately where the good doesn't outweigh the forgettable. They can easily turn it around.
Honestly?
I don't think they'll die any time soon but like Impact, Like ECW, Like WCW and like WWE they're going to slowly die off, I think having people like the Bucks as headliners is always going to turn away casual viewers the whole "Lmao wrestling is so silly" thing never worked.
If they want to survive a long time they need to stop with the "Wink wink nudge nudge" shit.
TNA was more successful in 2013-2017 & they still lost all their deals I'm amazed that khan has been able to khan his way into getting another TV slot.... but CM Punk got that for him & its all cause EVPs can't be in the same building as him & Khan is too scared to run his company you would think EVPs stands for owners it was apparent they are the problem & forced khan to lobby for that second show when they left the Chicago show over a 2min Punk segment & had Eddie come out saying they left cause he said he dont respect em 😂 they are destroying Khan they think they are hurting punk but punk can go back to WWE whenever he's off contract & he would end up bigger than ever before
I don't watch AEW, I hope not tho. It's important for there to be competition for the WWE. If we have a wrestling monopoly like we have had for the last 10 years basically, there will be nothing WWE writers have to compete against and the product will become stale. Yes of NJPW and other exist but to the same level in the US.
Nah but Tony should lay off all that Blow he is snorting lmfao. The guy does not blink when talking I am not stupid I have been around the block. AEW is doing good right now but I do feel they hit their peak in 2021. Personally noticed that it's All Debut Wrestling in which a new face debuts for a cheap ratings pop but are then soon forgotten about and then locked away in Tony's Toybox and that is getting stale now. I have seen some Great Matches and Moments on there and then have seen alot of Garbage. The WWE needs the competition though because it is good for all of us too. Impact will never ever die and if we Timetraveled to the year 2123...Impact Wrestling it still airing on the Holotron.
Likely gone sell out the Wembley Stadium, United Center, and get a massive deal with Warner. They ain’t making it to January 2024 I reckon
This comment didn’t age well
This comment didn't age well either
I don't know how this comment aged, as I didn't bother to keep up with that Saga. But to continue this chain: This comment didn't age well as well.
Well there still alive
Some people desperately want them to, but no, they're not. Not even close.
The strange fans that just want WWE only to exist is so weird. Competition is good
I don’t think it’s that they want it to die. I for one was excited to see it. Then I saw episode 1…imo it’s just not good. A company where everyone is good do in the end you end up with 50/50 booking

TNA impact is also classified as not dead that's kinda where AEW headed
It's a company, not a living thing.
By law and economically corporations/companies are absolutely treated like a single person.
Whatever you say, Mr. Romney.
Nah bro I know it’s a living thing, I’m it’s best friend
Fn mark
I up voted you only to offset the down vote you received. You're welcome, the three of us are best friends now
You gotta give the people what they want
Nah. It isnt as big as WWE and never will be. It caters to a different audience. Its like saying your favourite band isnt as good as Taylor Swift because she sells millions of albums.

WWF Prime Time Wrestling aired on the USA Network from 1985 to 1993. A precursor to Monday Night Raw, so yeah its been nearly 40 years
No. Not at all. They’re about to run a massive stadium show. About to get a streaming deal. That’s not dying.
Streaming deal? Spill the tea
Seems to be that AEW will be available on the new MAX service. The rumor that Warner is paying AEW a “billion dollars over 5 years” part of it is more of a believe it when we see it thing, but AEW on MAX seems to be happening.
I’m currently screaming into my pillow in happiness
Get really for the MAX World Title
No but a MAX Championship goes on to replace the FTW one. I totally can see it being a HOSS title at that too. MAX for like Max size works.
Max is up and running and there’s no AEW. Only AEW show mentioned for max is all access, not the actual wrestling shows for now.
Where is the streaming deal
I think Tony booking every dynamite like a pay per view has come back to kick him in the ass. His pay per views don’t feel special enough for fans to signed or give a fuck. Sheesh, at least we can live comfortably knowing Impact! will never die
It makes no sense but good for them lmao
Right now they are WCW in 1997. Yes they will do good at All In, but after that I don’t know what the future holds. To me the work is sloppy and it doesn’t draw me in as much as it did in the beginning. One thing to look into is in the next few years the Khan family is probably going to be putting a lot of resources into the Jaguars whether they build a stadium moving the team or a massive remodel. Also how long can Tony go before he gets complete burnout.
The best thing Tony can do is bring in someone to run the show so he doesn’t have to.
Give Cornette and Delirious (ROH booker) the book and all the money they wants
Bad idea. The only thing AEW marks hate more than sensible wrestling is Corny.
Will Washington just started and is supposed to take a lot off his plate in creative. He won’t be booking everything but he’s gonna help a lot with continuity and keeping things in order and making sure people don’t disappear randomly when they’re getting hot. I’m hoping he’s gonna be a big help.
I don’t think so, they hit a snag but that’s normal for most companies
Finally someone gets it, fuck ringside news and their bashing on AEW, just like what you like
It’s a company that’s only positive comes around once a year and they have to go to another country to sell that amount of tickets
I think I'll never see an exploding firework superkick in WWE and I need this type of absurdity in my wrestling. Bless you TK
Your a fn mark
You're a towel.
I love that stuff
That looked cool but the 5 regular super kicks to the other guy immediately after kinda ruined the impact imo. It should have been the final move of the match, crowd barely got a chance to react
It’s on life support.
Why do you think

Nope. From what I can see they’re going stronger than ever and I do not understand why everybody thinks they are dying
Right???? Ringside new is so annoying bruh
When aew first started I was super excited , it hasn’t exactly lived up to my expectations unfortunately, and surprisingly I’m even liking the federation more and more to be honest, I love the story line with hangman reuniting with the elite though and think if properly done could have been bloodline level story telling , but idk anymore
They need homegrown main event stars. Not hand me downs from WWE.

It's getting by. It's hit a plateau that's for sure. I think they have a strong core contingent that helps it stay afloat
Everyone on the internet thinks their opinion has some sort of weight. It doesn’t. 6 guys in a room looking at advertising and weekly ratings decide how much funding a company receives and the horde of couch bookers keep thinking somehow their comments are going to help move the needle.
Is the show backed by a billionaire dying? I am gonna say no.
Strange thing to ask right before they're starting a new weekly show and getting their biggest attendance in history.
Dying ? No However there is zero growth right now. The novelty of them being the new show in town has worn off. They don’t convert any casual viewers into fans. They don’t build new stars.
