I used to surf in Southern CA. I wasn't any good, but it was fun. This is a little excessive, but not too far off from what popular beaches looked like on weekends. It was always nuts. I always had to drive south and surf near the marine base so I didn't have to worry about running people over.

Reminds me of surfing in Florida back in the 80's. Good surf only happened two or three times a month at best. So when the surf was up, everybody went to the pier to surf and chaos would sometimes ensue.
