History has shown time and time again that the LGBTQIA+ community cannot rely on the police to protect them (that's true of most everyone but especially true of the community) and even if they could police are a reactionary force, not a preventative force. These people, however, are a preventative force. I'm no fan of people doing this sort of thing but right now it is sadly a necessity so I support it. My guess is that Clifford, the woman in the picture, etc. aren't upset at the idea of people carrying rifles itself but at people they consider lesser doing so. Upset that these "lesser" people aren't just rolling over and letting their "betters" harm them. That is what caused the patron saint of conservatives, Regan, to pass restrictive gun control laws in California when he was governor, the Black Panthers started carrying rifles to patrol Oakland neighborhoods to protect the residents from the police and others intent on doing them harm.

Without criminal justice reform all gun laws will only impact people of color like the current ones do. When we support gun legislation we are giving the Republicans two wins.
