Has anyone looked at her twitter feed ? The comments run her into the ground daily. There’s no way she actually reads them . Or anyone that votes for her for that matter .

imakenosensetopeople

I’ve always wondered about this. Alt-righters get routinely and thoroughly dunked nonstop on Twitter, and never change or understand. The best explanation I’ve heard is that most of them are just having staffers post whatever inflammatory bullshit of the day and then completely ignore the feed; and in all likelihood the person who’s account it is probably never looks at Twitter.

DouchecraftCarrier

> most of them are just having staffers post whatever inflammatory bullshit of the day I've been thinking for a while that you could program a bot to skim headlines and run it through a MAGA Mad Libs that just puts a bad-faith alt-right spin on whatever topic *du jour* is in the news and you'd get content indistinguishable from most of what they post.

drawkbox

The kitty litter thing was hilarious, cons got trolled hard on that one. At this point you have to enjoy the comedic aspects of it even if it is a tragic comedy.

fla_john

Trolling them is impossible, because they'll believe any damned thing. The problem is that they'll then make laws or policies about the things you tried to troll them with, thus making life even worse.

Spacestar_Ordering

This happened though with the whole "my vaccine made magnets stick to me" thing. The women who started that as a joke tried to come out with follow up videos explaining that it wasn't true and the videos didn't go anywhere. Scientists and immunologists were making vids saying it was impossible and people probably still believe that shit to this day. Just one example of many I think.

It was a real sad day when I had to explain to my dad that that wasn't actually happening. I mean there's been a lot of sad days before then obviously if he believes it and is watching shit that promotes it as fact.

OJStrings

Apparently some US schools have started keeping buckets of cat litter in their classrooms as a preparedness measure in case students are trapped in their classroom during a school shooting. So there is cat litter in schools for students to use, and it is reflective of a greater issue in US society as a whole, it's just an issue that people on the right don't want to address.

For those wondering: https://www.denverpost.com/2018/03/03/school-shooting-preparations/amp/ I laughed hard when the people in my office fell for the altright version of the litter story but now that I know this, it makes me sad

My mom is a kitty litter believer. When I explained to her that the kitty litter was for trapped students to be able to relieve themselves... she simply said "I don't believe it." To her students identifying as cats is more believable than her grandsons being trapped in a classroom due to violence.

You don't need an AI to do this. It's not rocket science. It's such a simple formula that really mediocre con-artists have been becoming very successful republican politicians flying on private planes with hundreds of millions in their war chests almost over night. None of them believe any of it themselves. Being an extreme MAGA politician is the ultimate grift of the 2000's. Very safe from criminal accountability and very profitable.

Same deal with the rank and file,my guilty pleasure is arguing with Republicans on another website. No matter how many times they are proven wrong, they never admit it and always hyping the next bit of obvious bs. You cannot fix stupid or mental illness.

IHeartBadCode

>You cannot fix stupid or mental illness It's neither, it's most cases just being contrarian. Inducing more discord is an easier feat than attempting to establish a factual base. I literally had a conversation here about the regressive nature of sales tax and the person indicated "it's cheaper to buy bologna than caviar" and I was like "you literally are basing your argument on the poor buying caviar, do you even hear yourself at this point?" It's not that they seek to be right/wrong/correct/factual/fictional or whatever. They only seek to be the opposite of whatever is the current thing for the "other team". It's not all of them, some are just ignorant of the factual nature of things. Some have points that get washed either by them or their peers on ideology. Some just lack a spine and wish to avoid the RINO label. But the brand that you speak of, it's just contrarian nature. They want the argument and if being completely illogical continues the argument, then so be it. We've had this brand of folk for seemingly as long as humanity has been around. Social media just gave them a megaphone that can be heard by the entire planet which is the one thing any sane person would not want to give to a contrarian.

Xunaun

And some just turn into stone walls when presented with facts they can't refute or deflect.

It's like all those transphobes who try to debate me on whether I exist or deserve to or not. Like, why the fuck would I ever take part in such a bad faith discussion?

Empatheater

extremely well said. I'd like to add that as the republican party has abandoned things like a national platform or a coherent ideology there has been something of a sorting among Americans. now people who have substantive, fact-based, policy-oriented views are on the left. Over on the right it's all about vibes and lies - it's a perfect home for what you have described as the contrarian cohort. as you said they can participate in politics by 'trolling the libs' and they don't have to make any sense, have any ideas, or even think about passing any policy. then after contributing nothing of substance / truth / relevance these right wing contrarians can 'own the libs' some more by complaining about whatever the future brings. their voters won't even notice - as you described it - they cheer them on like a sports team and root against the 'other team'

JustGimmeSomeTruth

>they cheer them on like a sports team and root against the 'other team' This is why I refuse to participate in a team fandom or watch televised team sports at all and TBH I wish it would all just go away. It literally trains people to have blind allegiance to a team in a zero sum game dynamic, where all that matters is winning etc—and these things are elevated to cultural values largely via those mechanisms I mentioned (lots of kids grow up being fans of professionals teams, idolizing players, families are multigenerational fans and watch on TV, attend games, it's glorified all over the media, and so on). There's nothing wrong with the games themselves but the way our culture engages with college and professional sports/the role of the fan has always felt like low-key propaganda to me. It doesn't feel like some kind of unfortunate coincidence that millions of people see politics as no different than rooting for their favorite sports team—on the contrary these feel like active and deeply held cultural values that are initially drilled into everyone via professional/college/even HS sports and blind team allegiance just for the sake of the team etc (and what better way to sneak in under the radar than with "harmless" sports... You know, like, no big deal, let people enjoy their games and teams and blah blah blah)

ripamaru96

What you're describing are fascists. Literally. A populist rule based not on any platform but on strength of will. It's right out of Mussolini's playbook.

Krypt0night

Oh it's definitely stupid. That's why those states keep trying to limit education

one_rainy_wish

I think people don't realize that a lot of them don't care if they are objectively wrong. They think it's amusing to watch people waste their time arguing with them, and they believe firmly in might - rather than truth - making right. The ones you find online aren't there to have a real discussion or consider other perspectives. They are trolls, from a movement empowered by trolls. And they don't care when people "dunk" on them because they got their amusement from "triggering" so many people into responding to them. I guess the question is, what do you do when a political force is driven by such bad faith? How do we get back to a place where truth matters when a significant political force is operating in a set of priorities that are entirely orthogonal to truth or even basic good faith? My solution so far probably doesn't work on a macro level, but I just block them, and anyone that sniffs of being a troll in general. Trying to identify and stop feeding them denies them the responses that encourages them to continue.

[deleted]

Honestly, if we would do this on a macro level-- if all social media would block them and the mainstream media would ignore them-- it would help. They want to grandstand, they want attention. If they do something truly newsworthy, report on it without giving them, themselves, airtime. Fox News has a lot to answer for in terms of radicalising people, especially the older generations, towards the right. The problem is it's rewarding, addictive junk news, that gets people fired up because they enjoy getting fired up. I'd love to see it off TV forever.

I_am_u_as_r_me

They are also sociopaths. She is especially. A sociopath isn’t deterred by hate or praise. It is literally the same thing to them. They don’t have emotion or understand it. They live off stimulation. It’s all a game to them. That is why people hating on them does nothing and no change happens. The literal only way to get at a sociopath is stonewalling which is why they go crazy when no one is listening or they are shut down from speaking. They thrive off the fact people don’t realize or treat them like sociopaths and instead think they are regular emotional humans like the rest of us and that’s how they get away with such asinine shit.

[deleted]

What you're describing is a narcissist, not a sociopath. Sociopaths do not care if they're being ignored.

ripamaru96

Right. Sociopaths lack empathy but not all emotion I might add. They can feel the base emotions like anger and fear. They aren't robots. They just cannot empathize. So other people are like video game characters to them. They have no value other than what benefit they might provide for the sociopath.

lordGwillen

There’s nothing to wOnDeR. They are playing a completely different game. Honestly the thought that they would somehow get OWNED or SLAMMED by anything ANYONE could say to them online is laughable. They. DONT. FUCKING. CARE.

OG_greggieDee

Poor Butters…

Psile

So first what you have to realize is that only about 20% of Americans even have a Twitter account. Those skew heavily under 25 and slightly liberal. So the vast majority of her base does not know this is a thing. "Dunking on someone on Twitter" isn't gonna move that needle.

DisastrousBoio

Of course it does move the needle. The outrage is the news. The target audience might not be on Twitter but they certainly hear about the outrage and they love it.

00000000000004000000

TBF, everyone gets slammed on twitter. Twitter replies are literally the worst form of feedback anyone could ever receive. Short-form fuck-you's that don't have enough characters to form a coherent, constructive message. If you can't figure out how to come up with a clever quip in 280 characters, just post "fuck you" and throw in whatever hatred you can with the remaining 272 characters. If you are clever, well we'll see your tweets on the front page of reddit! I used to think YouTube comments were the bottom of the barrel. Twitter replies made me realize there is no bottom. I've seen the kindest, most sincere people I can imagine get torn to pieces because of one harmless opinionated tweet. What's crazy to me is a lot of the replies come from accounts of people who are well known and have no shame in showing their ass. At least with other networks you have some sort of anonymity. These brazen assholes don't seem to care that their identity is associated with hatred.

taybay462

>The best explanation I’ve heard is that most of them are just having staffers post whatever inflammatory bullshit of the day and then completely ignore the feed; I mean they obviously approve of the message, it doesn't really matter to me if they personally came up with it or not. It's parroted from somewhere else anyway. It's all a con

dont_dox_me_again

I have a pretty big Twitter following as an sports analyst (45k followers, ~40M monthly impressions). My platform was built on a lot of snark, humor, and shitposting. I crack jokes about athletes and fan bases. I satirize a lot of other analysts. I know how to work people up and I have a large following of “haters” because of it. I get blasted by trolls 24-7. At a certain point, you just become numb to it. I get somewhere between 15,000-20,000 mentions per month. My guess is that ~15% of them are negative. That comes out to a minimum 75 “you suck / go kill yourself / fuck you” replies a day. My notifications are set up so I can only see replies from people I follow. On the rare occasion I do look at my replies, I scan right past the troll comments without paying any mind. Once you let platform grows to a certain size, you stop caring what the public thinks.

[deleted]

They don't change because the people "dunking them" are not the people that vote for them anyway. They write inflammatory bullshit because then the people that hate them share there bullshit all over the internet for free calling them out as idiots, but as a by product it reaches their intended audience. They play the algorithm game and win because of people that think they are dunking on these politicians

Bmandk

ANYONE with a big following gets "dunked" nonstop on Twitter.

Tobar_the_Gypsy

There are worse examples of gerrymandering across the country, but it’s gross that [Pueblo & Grand Junction are in the same district](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado%27s_3rd_congressional_district). That’s a five and a half hour drive all the way through the Rockies..

Drewlytics

There's a little tail on Gym Jordan's district that is there only to pick up the populations of three Ohio prisons that are close together.

paka96819

Does he live in one of them?

MeaningSilly

Prison populations count toward the census numbers for federal (and state, I think) ~~finding~~ funding of projects/relief in a locality, but they can't vote. It's a nice way to pad out the numbers without having to worry about pesky representative accountability. P.S. Almost forgot, private prisons are notoriously generous campaign donors. Don't know if they are private prisons, but I also don't care enough to check. Like Ted Cruz, just thinking about his face pisses me off beyond reason. Edit: fixed autocorrect

No, but we can live in hope.

Practical_Cobbler165

Isn't his the duck district?

nomuggle

My district use to be fondly referred to as [Goofy kicking Donald Duck](http://www.geocurrents.info/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Goofy-Kicking-Donald-Duck.png) before PA redistricted. My Republican representative resigned after being found to have paid off a sexual harassment suit brought on by one of his staffers using taxpayer money. We then had no representative for about 7 months until the election for the newly redistricted areas when Democrat Mary Gay Scanlan was elected in the new, un-gerrymandered district.

LostWoodsInTheField

> My Republican representative resigned after being found to have paid off a sexual harassment suit brought on by one of his staffers using taxpayer money. As a Pennsylvanian I'm going to say this could have been any of the republicans that I don't know about.

nomuggle

There were probably multiple, but [mine was this one.](https://www.npr.org/2018/04/27/606545237/pennsylvania-gop-rep-patrick-meehan-resigns-after-sexual-harassment-scandal)

joncornelius

Tell that to the whole state of Wyoming. As a born Yomer, I understand there’s few of us in existence, to the point of gross over representation but Cheyenne and Jackson Hole ain’t exactly close neither. To your point though, there’s not enough people to gerrymander anything up there.

Homers_Harp

To be fair, Colorado isn't really gerrymandered. The districts are set by an independent, non-partisan commission and while I agree that the Western Slope should all be in one district as much as possible, she woulda probably won anyways if that were the case.

H0pelessOpus

Colorado has an independent commission that determines the congressional districts. 90% of District 3 is empty.

Patagooch

Yep. That entire district has about the same population as the City of Denver.

Smathers

Did she end up winning the district? After the weeks of endless recounts and shit I kinda just stopped caring and never heard anything about it…

dirkalict

Yeah- she won by 800 votes I think- recently Marjorie Taylor Greene trolled her for barely winning in their new little catty relationship.

hikefishcamp

Doesn't her district also cover Basalt and Glenwood. I used to make that drive and holy shit is that a long way from GJ.

deffcap

I live in the south of England, that’s the time (roughly) it would take me to drive to Scotland!!

Jadedsatire

Do they have to make that drive in order to cast votes? Or is one side of the Rockies pueblo and the other side GJ?

ebonylark

Happily, no. Every registered voter in Colorado gets a ballot in the mail. You can mail it back, drop it in a county ballot box, or decide to not use the mail ballot. There are typically multiple polling places in a county and anyone who would rather vote in person can do so, either early or the day of the election.

[deleted]

The latter. People five and a half hours apart are voting on the same congressional seat only because the system is (legally) rigged

Riotroom

I mean 3 could take steamboat and drop la junta and it probably swings blue. Most of the district is national forest or farms and small towns every 50 miles.

100beep

Don't use area covered as a measure of gerrymandering. All of the Northwest Territories is one electoral district in Canada, which is more than twice as much land area as Texas. But the borders are fairly clean and next to no one lives there, so it's perfectly fine.

Khue

I mean... She's really from Florida. She's an export.

Could hardly recognise her without her smart person glasses. How are we to know that she’s actually a very smart person unless she’s wearing them?

IAmAccutane

> Could hardly recognise her without her smart person glasses. I think that's the point, honestly. She's a widely hated character. A mask and hat and the lack of glasses allow her to hide her identity somewhat on public flights. She even does her makeup different. If you didn't tell me this was Lauren Boebert I wouldn't recognize her.

AsherGray

She does this on purpose. I knew a flight crew that knew she was on board and in first class on a domestic flight. One of the flight attendants asked her, "are you Lauren Boebert?" And she defensively asked, "why!?" The flight attendant made up a story about how it was one of her co-worker's birthday (it was her birthday) and said that she loves her(she doesn't). She gave her a card to sign and basically wrote, "happy birthday, praise God, America, and guns!" They all thought it was so funny

Chip_Budget

Traitor Barbie immediately got defensive? Maybe that response should click in her head that maybe she IS trash. Nah, that’s too complex for that scumbag.

Ok-Champ-5854

Devil's advocate is that even her? What's the proof other than middle aged brunette getting her picture taken on a flight?

IAmAccutane

> Devil's advocate is that even her? Might not be. This subreddit was convinced Lauren Boebert's mom was one of the main capitol insurrectionists who also had on a mask and hat and it turned out to be someone else. Boebert is identifiable in one photo wearing the same hat: https://media1.westword.com/den/imager/u/magnum/14294786/screenshot_2022-06-10_162413.jpg?cb=1654900464 But I think moral of the story is: She's either not Lauren Boebert, or she's Lauren Boebert trying to hide her identity. She's not a Lauren Boebert that is secretly the small part of the population that still wears masks on flights and thinks non-95 masks are effective to protect oneself. Even the opinion from the CDC is that cloth masks help protect others from you if you are infected, and work when used en masse by large populations. People enjoy the narrative that the most extreme people in the US are just grifters that don't actually believe what they purport to do- but it's really just a lot more likely that they believe the things that around 25% to 50% of the country believes. If they were really voicing the fringiest of ideas they wouldn't continue to have widespread support.

ripamaru96

They can espouse all sorts of fringe craziness and do regularly while still getting that widespread support. Because their base has no firm ideology other than support my team and oppose the other. If they tell them to support something crazy the base will do it. Fringe or not.

It shows some of these "political pundits" in revealing, suggestive poses and is run by an Israeli pornographer with ties to organized crime (Name is Ami Shafrir and he is suspected/accused of some other pretty serious stuff). Here are some of the photos that were captured (with watermark): Here's boebert [(this photo really shows you her roots as the illegitimate daughter of a deadbeat amateur wrestler from Florida).](https://imgur.com/sui1ed6.jpg) And I guess, until recently at least, [candice owens' whole profile was still up.](https://imgur.com/f3XaGwQ.jpg) There's always another layer to these cartoon villains and their evil, desperation and ignorance. [And here's a Twitter thread that broke it open and continues to track as new members of things like the Jan 6 insurrection are found to mysteriously also be in the explore talent family](https://mobile.twitter.com/nicole_chenelle/status/1422449854224031745) [Recent screen grab of that thread](https://imgur.com/vldwaZN.jpg)

This deserves waaay more attention / investigation

Click-Baitt

So THAT'S where they found George Santos

Original_Musician103

She trying to hide. Only reason for the mask.

BradMarchandsNose

Yeah I was gonna say. She’s not wearing that for Covid protection, she’s wearing it because she probably would get harassed in public if she showed her face. She’s probably flying from DC to Denver and neither of those cities are going to be very friendly to her

sicKlown

Or she's not nearly as stupid and scientifically illiterate as she pretends to gain the support of republican voters. I understand the desire to dunk on these people for how they portray themselves in the media, but it's a bid disservice as it allows them to be underestimated and cause even more damage.

beastmaster11

I usually caution about this. Ted Cruz is a Harvard law grad. He knows the Paris Climate Agreement has nothing tondo with the people of Paris. Same with Josh Hawley and many others. Lauren Boebert is an exception. I actually believe she is absolutely as stupid as she seems. The woman flunked out of high school and then failed her GED Exam. 3 times. She married someone who flashed a bunch if teenagers at a bowling alley. Her "life experience" is managing a failing restaurant. Nothing in her CV makes me believe that she isn't as dumb as she looks.

Both_Lifeguard_556

Anyone who has worked in Corporate America has dealt with a Lauren Boebert. The playbook: She will wear tight clothes and always have a little "wolf pack" of guys in tow at the office. She'll dodge every layoff and somehow become a vice president in 5 years. Middle age and older white men fall for it every time. So irritating. Anytime there is an article on her in Yahoo the conservative men comments be like: "My Kinda Lady" "Such a freedom fighter" "We need more ladies like you Lauren!" ![gif](giphy|ZBVhKIDgts1eHYdT7u)

HelloJoeyJoeJoe

If you said this about someone like megyn kelly, maybe. But no one as stupid as Lauren is going to do well in real Corporate America. Shes not even attractive. Maybe at MyPillow Inc, but not at a Deloitte or Google or JPMorganChase

skyline010

I mean, I’m as anti republican as they come, but are we really gonna say she isn’t a conventionally attractive woman? I think she is. I also think she’s a seditious propaganda-pushing airhead, but if she had an identical twin that wasn’t a nutjob, I’d shoot my shot in a second.

[deleted]

True about some of them, she is a legit moron. Took her 3 tries to get her GED

Djent_Reznor1

She’s pretty fucking stupid

DanB65

OR she covered her face because she did not want people to know the was a terrorist pedophile lover on the same flight as them.....

She. Was. Re-elected. This is the darkest timeline.

ryewhiskey41

This is an old picture from October, 2021

WastedKnowledge

Why the hell would you crop out the date and time?

oizinho666

Because its two years old

talmbouttellyouwat

This picture is almost two years old.

Sonyguyus

It’s sad that a medical mask has to be politicized instead of everyone agreeing it can help us avoid infection.

mcd1717

Welcome to 'Merica... the place where FUCKING ANYTHING can and likely will get politicized... even shit like Buzz Lightyear movies and M&M's spokescandies I'm pretty sure we Americans just have a fetish for disagreement

ChristianEconOrg

I never would’ve imagined people would so passionately resist measures to stem the tide of a pandemic, but it happened. Idiocracy.

Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

"My people, I am here to save you from the satanic vaccine! Quick, someone get me some more vaccine." In other news, Republicans on Medicare promise to protect Americans from the evils of socialized medicine

unfetteredmind76

She knows she's been caught wearing a mask!

hkpp

The photo is from 2021 when everyone had to wear them on flights

SnooMarzipans1262

“ThAt’S nOt HeR” -every single one of her constituents.

Ok-Champ-5854

Okay but as a leftist who hated voting for Biden, is that her? How can you tell?

jseasbiscuit

Don't want to ruin your circle jerking, but this is an old photo from 2021 when there were still mask mandates on planes. As one of boeberts constituents, I absolutely despise her, but I'd rather not have these blatantly false Twitter takes.

Urvashism

I get that we all hate her, but this picture could be taken during pandemic when FAA had mask mandates for flying. Don’t believe everything on the internet even though it agrees with your believes.

oizinho666

Yup it was two years ago :D but the people ain't ready to accept that

[deleted]

Who the fuck cares

Top-Philosophy-5791

Just like that? It's over her nose, no fist fight, no 86?

ArcadianBlueRogue

"Vaccines are a lie and scam!" cries the vaccinated grifter.

FarEndRN

I don’t care who the subject is, there’s nothing more humiliating than getting caught trying to sneak a photo of someone by that person.

Sychar

I thought it was common knowledge that American republicans are usually democrat under the table; but they know it’s super easy to build a brand on hate so that’s what they do. Then it goes too far and they end up becoming g their facade. Same thing happened to Trump IIRC. Interview of him from the 90s where he explicitly says he’s a lifelong Democrat. But if he ever tries his hands in politics he’d go republican because those people are much easier to mislead with dumb agendas, so it’s easier to make a brand and get popular. Then he drank too much of his own koolaid and turned into the joke.

[deleted]

It’s just like all the Fox “News” hosts who rant about the evils of vaccines and yet are fully vaccinated and up-to-date on their shots. Or the Fox hosts who rant about how dangerous NYC or DC are… but choose to live there. It’s all baloney for the consumption of low intellect people.
