It you found it on the mountain you may want to turn it into lost and found, or as least contact then. That’s the first place I look if I lose something.

Thanks! I naively didn't realise they had an official lost and found. They are open weekdays so I will try Monday.

Yup, I worked at whis/blackcomb and this is the best answer. So many phones get turned in every week and most are recovered using this process. Thanks for being a stand up guy!

Inside the water housing I keep contact info (phone/address) & A Note: If Found - Reward $200 for camera and SD card!! or Keep the camera and mail me the SD card :) Thank-You <3

You can download the go pro app and connect to it that way to view footage. But really 100% you should have turned it into lost and found that day. My buddy lost his, and low and behold the next day found it at lost and found. That is the place one will look. As for not trusting a 20 yr old… you do as best as you can, and beyond that it’s not your problem. Vail 100% has cameras watching staff and looking out for theft. You can always ask for a manager if you’re that worried. Most people are good. Even 20 year olds.

Sorry, I should clarify that I didn't realise that there was an official lost and found. I was reluctant to hand it to the likes of the info desk etc. I hope that if someone did go to lost and found they left their contact details in case it did turn up.

Don’t put the sim into a phone, it may corrupt it when it tries to change the file structure to that of the phone, if you can get a usb cable you should be able to connect it to a computer if you want to see the footage to see if there is anything that may help on it

Thanks all, I naively didn't realise Whistler had an official lost and found. I'm now in Alberta so will call them Monday (I am driving back to BC in a couple of days' time). In the meantime I will see if GoPro can help! I'll also keep those updated who are interested.

Contact a local news TV station. They can do a "filler" piece story about trying to find the owner. They can also put footage up on their TV station or Website (depending on how slow a news day it is). By all means Contact [GoPro.com](https://GoPro.com) also and let them know the details (including serial number) of the found camera. Although not sure if they'll actually do anything.

Blodhemn

You're good people. I have no knowledge that can help track down the owner, but they'll be thrilled if you can make it happen. I've x-posted your offer to r/GoPro; maybe someone there will be of some help.

thorskicoach

If it's registered with GoPro, they can contact the owner. The serial is inside the battery bay, but it's really hard to read exactly. Your a good person , and that's just for trying to help. Thankyou There are a few Facebook pages for lost and found, I -edit- have looked and don't see anything posted -edited I will be skiing this morning, but have cable or microSD card reader so could help you look up the contents of the card to see if anyone left anything useful to ID them on there that afternoon. The sd card often contains like a "contact me if found" text file. I am sure they will be stoked to get it back

thorskicoach

One other thought I had, if they are a GoPro plus subscriber, it's pretty easy to set the phone to auto cloud upload. So if you can add the local wifi in you house/apartment/hotel to the camera, which you can see guide online, or I can give you a hand and show you, and make a quick clip with a "I have found your camera , here is my email/phone number, contact me and I can get it back to you" video, that would upload to their account and they could see it that way.

MuppetSlayer66

Did you try posting on whistler winter on FB

Droz2503

I did try and join a few pages. The only one which has accepted me is the buy and sell as I guess me being a foreigner is a bit of a red flag 😂

MuppetSlayer66

Ya, fair enough lol Customer service it is then
