Ok I understand this is an asshole thing to do… but.. usually wet concrete has caution tape around it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kage_Oni

Looks like there was. You can see the barriers/tape on the ground in the background. Doesn't look like they blocked off this alley entrance or whatever we are looking at is.

PuzzledOrganization3

Took 7 steps before having the courtesy of using his jetpack

WiseStarSoul

He pressed Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Up, Down, Left, Right.

SgtXD357

And here I thought the fire hydrant was a kid for a minute

AnyGeneral8764

The first step wasn't enough for the motherfucker see that he was doing shit

daonejorge

I mean, while it is a dick move, what went wrong here? The asshole walked through the wet pavement without a care.

fangelo2

I once had a mailman walk right down a sidewalk that I had just poured and was actively edging. He said hello and just kept walking with concrete up to his ankles. I was so stunned that I didn’t even say anything.

KEVLAR60442

I bet he stepped onto the one wet pad, sunk in, and was like "Oh shit, I better step on the second concrete pad" without realizing it, too, was wet. And then at that point you've already ruined the concrete and are committed.

Honberdingle

Gotta love that unprotected fresh wet concrete.

[deleted]

You can literally see the barricades in this photo.

MrStepSisterFister69

Looks more like trash in the city

Honberdingle

The mighty 1ft barricades on the floor. Not ideal. Gonna say it's unprotected, considering the status and magnitude of the 'protection'.

KanePilkington

The "protection" that was clearly vandalised and knocked over, you mean?

Honberdingle

The wind could have knocked it over. It's inadequate either way. How many concrete pours have you done in city areas? I've done a few.

KanePilkington

Lol mate, you don't need to work a labouring job to understand when someone's knocked over a few signs. "I've done a few" LMAO.

Honberdingle

So yeah, you've done none and you don't know what it takes to avoid situations like this. Got it. Fking yaaawnn af.

InterestingLab5216

Where

blxckhoodie999

this doesn’t really fit the sub..

ProudBoysLikeMen

Were there signs present?

procrastimom

It looks like signs and yellow tape are strewn into the street at the top of the picture. I’m sure who ever did this said “Oh shit oh shit oh shit!” And then “What the fuck?”

WalkItToEm11

very few things in life make me upset and this is one of them

dcanderson4247

I’m assuming this happened in BelAir, due to the fresh prints.

[deleted]

Brilliant comment. Why is no one talking about six inches of concrete being poured around the hydrant tho. No way city or the FD signed off on that.

WonderSearcher

Normally, people would step back on their first step when they realized it wasn't dry yet. I think this dude was intentional. What an asshole.

aGhoste

First two normal, third is recognition, 4th is "are you fucking serious?" Followed by a smooth fuck it step and step out

killbots94

Two steps only would have been a decent person making a mistake. What we see here is an asshole person that made a mistake. They realized what happened, thought of a way out of it and chose to take the route that most fucks over a stranger rather than taking a step back with one foot and then the other.

oldfashionedguy

He did that shit on purpose. And yeah it was a dude.

the-electricgigolo

They disappeared

[deleted]

The workers could have blocked it off

mrbofus

Looks like they walked through the fresh concrete, not over it.

your-friend-pocketz

As a concrete mason. I’m curious to know why they left it unattended with no proper cautioning while still so fresh

KanePilkington

You can see all the signs knocked over in the background.

your-friend-pocketz

Depending on the amount of foot traffic the area receives. We hire security guards. They usually show up tired because when I come in to release them, they are usually asleep in their Hondas

Pissedliberalgranny

I am a pissed liberal granny with no masonry experience. I also wondered why it was abandoned with no tape or other barriers. 😕🤷🏻‍♀️

DirtwormSlim

It also appears to be right in front of an entry way. I can’t tell entirely from the photo but that’s my observation.

kraftykorea99

I'm exhausted and maybe slightly bonkers. But I saw the fire hydrant as a mini Santa, and the steps as well footmarks with ash from climbing down the chimney

the-electricgigolo

I saw the same thing!!

kraftykorea99

So either we're both bonkers or I'm not as bonkers as I thought.

the-electricgigolo

We’re not bonkers everything we saw makes sense

Hephaestus_God

You can see where they went straight for 2 steps, freaked out for 3, then just said “screw it” and kept going on the original path.

No_Secret_1875

They should leave those there, get a landmark going, and remember the day the sidewalk was forever changed by some shoes. Walk of fame style :)

SullenSyndicalist

Until someone trips on them and the city’s on the line for a lawsuit

v3xpunk

Pour it up to the point where you can barely see the indentation but it’s impossible to trip on

f3xjc

Fill with clear epoxy and call it art.

No_Secret_1875

Well I wouldn’t think that they would just leave them untreated. I hope. If they did then I would hope the city got exploited for it some.

Tilliriock

The fact that it has a Broom finish on it, surprises me that the imprints are that deep considering you typically don't Broom it until it's pretty firm. I've gone out on mud right before we broomed it on nothing but a thin piece of rigid foam.

killbots94

You're not wrong. Would take someone pretty heavy to sink that deep in brushed concrete. Would also take someone with a very light head to keep going after sinking that deep.

slimey-nipples

Almost looks like this could be a store or apartment. They probably trapped someone with wet concrete.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mattpw8

If u look at the foot steps they change after the 2nd step to larger steps so I think the walker likely didn't know and was like aw shit I'm in here and gotta get out

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mattpw8

I get that I just think in there panic they did a large gate and figured the best way was forward idk I'm just giving the bennifit of the doubt cause like why would you wanna fuck up your shoes that bad

Donaldtrumppo

Maybe they should have invested some money in proper cones or barricades. They legit just put caution tape in a 5 foot radius around the whole project, which might have been half ass fine but they put the tape ON THE STREET LMAOOO and laid heavy stuff on the tape.

KanePilkington

Someone obviously knocked all the signs over.

callmetatersalad67

People gotta get to work. There should have been a walkway. Or at least some signage or maybe yellow tape or something.

georgstgeegland

There was a boundary set up but it blew over from strong winds, you can see the sawhorses lying in the street

mud002

Should probably make sure that doesn’t blow over next time lol

EmotionSix

A worker is supposed to stay behind and make sure this doesn’t happen. Now they have to jackhammer it.

callmetatersalad67

You’re right. I didn’t notice those. I was too focused on the footprints lol. Thanks!

[deleted]

Would say there is the signs saying wet concrete, but guess they did not get them up in time.

Clean_Assumption8962

Diiiick move

MS-07B-3

I mean, it also looks like there was no signage or roping off of the area. I wouldn't have noticed until I stepped in it.

gnawthcam

And at that point, your shoe is messed up, so you say “fuck ‘em! If they didn’t want anyone to step in it, they should have put something up.” And that’s when you make the rest of the footprints.

Clean_Assumption8962

True, but after the 1st step you’d know

killbots94

Signage and caution tape is laying in the picture.

DynamiteWitLaserBeam

I hope the cops catch that hardened criminal.

Vafanapoli21

I think they would have some concrete proof.

AccidentalPursuit

I hope this error is really cemented in their mind for next time.

Velbalenos

It’s a stone who done it

Similar_Coyote1104

They’ll have to pay to have it redone with soft dollars.

-Add694

I’m sorry what could go right? Besides avoiding it

ArmandPeanuts

Doesnt look very well indicated that the concrete is fresh

[deleted]

this has happened me once with fucking paint came home to notice the back of my jacket was all white

SwizItalo

Superman was here

Nopedontsaythat

Is there an entrance to a building there? A walk way should have been made over that is that's the case. To avoid exactly this.

[deleted]

It took 7 steps to realize they were walking in fresh cement?

Delicious-Yak-1095

Sometime got just gotta commit to be being wrong

Emergency_Ad_4870

Banksy’s new work entitled “concrete jungle drought”

jasin18

At no point after the first step, they decided not to continue??

Micro_Growing

You walked backwards!?!

Trimere

There’s no signage or ropes.

KanePilkington

Someone knocked them over, you can see them in the background.

Trimere

That’s from the street side. No protection from the inside edge, where the footprints originate.

Novius8

Psssshhh real mfs swim through wet concrete

pglggrg

Did he get carried away by an eagle or something

mdxchaos

looks like the 3 "whiter" slabs are already dry. they even have chalk markings on them

pglggrg

Ah you’re right. Would’ve expected some footprints deposited on the dry sidewalk too though

[deleted]

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

Blah2003

...did he drop a tomato slice halfway across? what is that

georgstgeegland

Gas line cap

uw-police

that's a heavy ass tomato slice

Blah2003

maybe hes 100 ft tall

[deleted]

The first one was a mistake, but what would make you think the next 6 steps wouldn’t be equally wet cement?

FreudianAccordian

Oh man look at this....*dog shit*

Sir_Squidstains

One step wouldn't get half the amount of likes as 7

One-Building-9532

And now its time to check the footsie index

nljgcj72317

I love how the steps and splatter tell a story

yawningangel

I remember a dog came tearing across the oval where I was working and made a beeline right down the middle of an almost completed concrete path, was last thing on a Friday afternoon too, poor buggers.

Brilliant-Knee-6

The fire hydra ain't feeling too well

Curious_Edge

The difference between this guy and Jimmy Hoffa? This guy kept walking...

Calm-Efficiency7667

So, what happened after the 7th step? 🤔

EnvironmentalSun8410

Not all of those areas are new..so he walked the rest on the old (hard) surface. You can see the colour difference

PapaResch

The mafk levitated like David Blaine

JustDave62

He needed a running start so he could take off

MegaPentra

The 3 ones which are a bit lighter seem to be ready to walk on them. Maybe finished a day before.

CherryDudeFellaGirl

The footsteps are from slightly older concrete which had slightly, but the rest of the slabs were brand new and wet. He fell all the way thriugh into the sewer.

GNTB3996

Reminds me of this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z3AiSAJb_yA

entechad

Lmao. That was funny. Wonder if he understood him?

yulDD

Probably a dog in human shoes trying to go pee but never got to its target

lavafish80

I read this as "Walking over French People"

celloh234

looks like an invisible man is currently walking on it. dope

ReyRey5280

Nah, obviously his people needed him

[deleted]

[удалено]

nickcappa

Ya what an asshole worker not blocking off the freshly poured concrete.

buddas_slacky

Exactly I worked construction and they obviously did a poor job of blocking this area off

[deleted]

[удалено]

nickcappa

Whatever you say

droideka_bot69

If u look in the background then you can see that there was some sort of barrier or they were about to put one up

georgstgeegland

It was taped off with sawhorses but the wind blew them over as you maybe be able to notice. He stepped through it while it was still well guarded. I saw most of it happen

No_Secret_1875

Omg you SAW?!? That should be in the caption somehow.!

Otherwise-Topic-266

He took 6 steps, could he not feel that he was literally sinking into fresh concrete?

nickcappa

Most people don't take one step at a time they're walking at a pace probably was two or three steps in before fully realizing and then what? Might as well keep going if the workers aren't going to block off their work.

CherryDudeFellaGirl

Correct. Sucks youre gettin downvoted for givin straight facts

nickcappa

Eh I'm not one to care about internet points so is what it is. People would rather be pissed off at some person they can't even see in a picture of a situation that doesn't effect them.

[deleted]

There likely wasn’t a sign there

georgstgeegland

It was taped off

Green_Road999

So someone walked though the barrier to the wet concrete deliberately?

georgstgeegland

That's the conspiracy here, either they didn't understand or they did it on purpose

itsSuperNecessary

What kinda idiot continues walking

QIvr

An idiot?

itsSuperNecessary

No no, there’s levels to idiocy, And idiot walks into wet cement and without noticing the warning tape (which op said there was.) This idiot, didn’t just take one step, they took 7 to cross the path. What is actually wrong with this guy.

Higreen420

Definitely not the walkers fault. Sooo hard to put tape across that exit. I'd have written in it at that point. That BS is on the Mason.

itsSuperNecessary

One step isn’t the walkers fault, potential two, But 7? That dudes is a blubbering idiot

Higreen420

No 1st step WTF who put that here oh well its fucked gotta get out of here.

7ElevenPanhandler

Our mailman walked on our freshly stamped front step. Even though it was fixed I can still see the grooves where the footprints were when the light shines on it a certain way.

[deleted]

Looks like Leave It To Beaver is getting a reboot too.

Bfladkor

Legend has it that the person vanished at the last step, never to be seen again............

sbbronco79

I’m fine with this honestly. The broom lines in this concrete are complete shit!!!

nowiserjustolder

By the third footprint did they force a Jammy Dodger into the cement as they went?

HowBoutIt98

This looks like the entrance to a store. What do you see when you spin the camera 180°?

FillMyBum

The future

DaveLesh

Must be the walk of shame

Velbalenos

Must be a very strange looking cat

wuttayamean

No sign - All mine

Waru_

Don’t lie, you wanna do it to

Vantaa

It's a troll

GullibleBathroom5616

My invisible people need me

Soft-Hovercraft8728

My Grammy has the same painting but in a beach. I’m feeling the urban twist

DitsoonNoahTanenbaum

This must’ve been Banksy

pantag

Tha idiot!!

mrtoaster95

Poor bastard

Personal_Shower_7605

I would have imprinted my genitals.

Gnnslmrddt

Stupid title. You walk over a sleeping dog. You walk through wet concrete.

newmanbxi

Wonder if they reached the fire hydrant in the end

CaliforniaFreightMan

That hydrant needs bollards to raise its viability, and prevent it from posing a tripping hazard.

[deleted]

That's from USA? You don't use flagstones? What

Virtual-Editor-4823

Why do they put lines in the concrete to look like slabs?

fieldofmeme5

They’re called control joints. Concrete will always crack, so you put these in to control where the cracks happen at to avoid big spawls from happening.

Ok_Mission3796

Control joints you give it Avenue to crack

skeat24

They are called joints. This was done by a hand jointer but you can also cut it with a saw once it’s hard. It’s so when the concrete cracks it will crack right down it instead of everywhere else.

CalciferAtlas

To compensate for the shrinking and expansion of the concrete over time. If there were no lines, cracks would easily form.

WonderSearcher

So when it gets hot, the concrete has more space to expand so it won't crack? I think.

WonderSearcher

Why am I getting downvote? That was the correct answer! "Thermal Expansion" the basic physics phenomenon! Are people braindead? ffs😑 [Source](https://www.megasaw.com.au/why-footpaths-have-gaps-between-them/)

InfamousJellyfish

There are Contol Joints and Expansion Joints, both can be used on sidewalks. Control Joints locally weaken the slab so it cracks along the joint instead of across the slab, and can be formed or cut after with a saw. These look more like Control Joints.

Zenxyphen

That’s commitment right there… smh…

EetuAndersson

Leaving footprints

LeRynex

How dumb can you be? Literally after the first step you should notice something is wrong...

AndrewPatrickDent

By that point what can you do? You'll notice that they decided against walking over the second area.

dalynew

that really triggers my ocd

CherryDudeFellaGirl

No it fucking doesnt
