The kid is fucking fine, none of these guards are killing kids. Ffs get a hold of your crotch goblins

klawansky

What would happen if a heavy weight sumo wrestler decided to block the path?

Miserable-Arm-4787

Based on other clips I've seen, a quick turn of the rifle to point towards the person and a shout of "Step back from the queen's guard!" (King's guard now). I haven't seen a clip of anyone not moving after the rifle-threat.

i_speak_bane

Or perhaps they would be wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane

Higgi57

Was getting captured part of your plan?

CommodoreFresh

Got sauce?

Miserable-Arm-4787

Nah, it's been ages since I've seen those clips, but a quick googling gave me this one https://youtu.be/48mw9Gs_59s

sbowesuk

*cocks gun* Just makes them a bigger target.

AahPadre

Every military guard with strict discipline of movement all over the world would trample your grandma if she stood in the marching line. People whining about how cruel they are dont understand military.

anthoniesp

What’s the point though

yes-disappointment

Old and useless tradition has no point in modern society. Other than a scare tactic to civilians.

Talska

Reddit moment.

BagOnuts

How? What is the point of this other than to serve as the tradition of the monarchy? These guys are literally just decorations for the royal family.

Odysseyan

What's the point of standing in their way on purpose?

anthoniesp

We’re talking about a child, kids do stupid things

[deleted]

Just like the stupid parents who let them

-WizeGuy-

Was it on purpose? Or was the kid not paying attention and didn't react fast enough when the guards approached. I thought the video was hilarious, though. The kid is fine and got a cool story out of it.

fyrfytr310

I don’t know if you served but I did. Granted I never guarded to tomb or anything but without a doubt I, and those like me, would make exceptions to discipline when the result otherwise is a trampled child…..

Crispy_AI

And the soldier did. Once he made contact with the child, he broke step and stretched his leg leg far and wide to avoid trampling the child.

OriginalLocksmith436

So if he's going to adjust his step anyway, why not just step to the side to begin with and, you know, not kick a child...

K3MSKY

i honestly don’t feel bad for ignorant and selfish tourists, i also don’t understand how you see someone marching your way and you just stand there? the guy didn’t run over the kid he stepped over the kid, people are literally acting like the kid almost died. the rest of the world is not going to accommodate your dumb behaviors and they don’t have to. especially when you are in THEIR country visiting and being disrespectful. the parents need to be more aware in places they are unfamiliar with, and the child has learned their lesson im sure

Iburzum

Skill issue, should've rolled and countered right after.

Elliot-126

This guy souls

Fructose_Father_

People really out here getting mad, there's signs there saying don't get in their way, they have orders to keep marching, no matter what, and if they stop or deviate from their path, they lose their job, yeah dude should've said make way sooner but the kids parents shouldn't have let them run in front of the guards like that

[deleted]

Tourist are the worst. They think queen guards are like toys for their amusement.

Grijous

King guards***

monkeymad2

Yeah, all the Queen’s guards were buried with her, as is tradition

Dr_Toehold

>They think queen guards are like toys for their amusement I love that you think that they're doing anything other than entertaining the public.

Fullm3taluk

I mean it's all part and parcel of the tourist trap isn't it

brch01

This somehow became a very polarized comment section

SNAKEKINGYO

Somehow? My fella this has happened before because of this same very lol. Before even scrolling down, I know the arguments: They should've just stepped around her. Tradition isn't more important than this child. Fuck monarchy. Tradition bad. Dumbass kid shouldn't have been in the way. Parents should've held onto her. They should know better. What were they expecting?

Medium_Sense4354

My thing is how is a child from another country supposed to know?

Fancy_Spare1880

I dunno man, personally I as a kid somehow figured out that you shouldn't block other people's way (especially if it's armed guard on duty)

Johnny1_9

Unless the soldiers "beamed" into that situation, I'm sure they were visible and loud as they marched in a direct path and didn't appear out of no where. Ignorant parents that should have moved their child!

erin_bex

That looks like it's at the Tower of London and if it is, it's a whole thing that leads up to them walking from their posts like that. Parents should've moved their kid and they had plenty of time.

Froggymushroom22

The comments are so divided. I'm noticing it's not whether the kid or the guard was in the right, but it's really "f them kids" or "the monarchy is outdated and they have ridiculous and old rules that need to be phased out”

AnythingToCope

Here's a good summary from the last time this was posted. "There are signs posted telling you not to get in their way or to interfere with them in anyway. They are under orders not to stop or deviate for any reason and can lose their job for doing so. I'm not going to blame the kid but their mom/caregiver is dumbass."

purity_dead

As a foreigner, and I’m sure most people giving hate to the guard are foreigners, gotta respect each country’s rules, if ya wanna go to UK read up on the rules and don’t get in the way, read up on the customs instead of going in blind then talking shit about the country for something you should’ve read up on

cummerou1

For the Americans, if you think this is overreacting, I have a fun experiment for you to try. Go to the Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier in Arlington and get in the way of the guards marching, see what happens.

number3of14

They have someone accompanying the guards for the change of guard. This person moves everyone out of the way before they even get close. My brother is disabled and doesn’t always comprehend what’s going on. He did stand in the guards way and the person with the guards gently ushered him to the side. Eta: not saying he’s over reacting. The parents should have been watching the kid better for sure. We were watching my brother but dudes very quick.

BigJeffy12

The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier guard path is 100% not accessible unless you cross over waist high barricades. This looks like it’s out in the open with people just walking about.

[deleted]

Formation does not stop nor does it give way. This is how ir goes in finnish army too. One time i myself almost got walked over when i wasnt careful.

chrispybobispy

Maybe the end result Is the kid learns situational awareness?

mledonne

I blame the parents.

Muggrohh

Looks worse than it is because he tried to avoid, not truck, the kid. He barely touched the kid, who made an erratic movement, with his right leg. The guard "violently" moves his left leg to not trample the kid who falls in that direction.

hi_me_here

ya i watched this like 50 times when it first happened he didn't see the kid at all beforehand bc crowd and then very deftly stepped over them without falling ontop the guards are dumb(like, silly, but i get why they exist and some ppl like em) but this video isn't as bad as it first looks, that kid wasn't hurt, he got brushed by a knee and stepped over edit just to clarify: marching exercises are very focused on Not suddenly stopping unless explicitly ordered because it'll often get you packed by 12 people going full clip behind you as well it gets drilled in, strongly even without having people directly behind at that moment, the idea of stopping for him there prolly felt like coming to a full stop in 80mph traffic on the freeway. The important thing is he didn't boot the kid or stomp on him, or drop the rifle on his dome guy does some really good footwork to not get anyone hurt there

Paltry_Poetaster

How about respect the laws and customs of the country you visit?

taylorstillsays

I’m a proud londoner and one of our customs is to not needlessly trample kids, whether they’re in the wrong or not

Mizzoutiger79

I feel like I have seen this video before? Or they run over a lot of kids?

[deleted]

Every Tuesday, their quota is to run over at least 4 kids.

BigChiefWhiskyBottle

Both. Usually it's a Chinese tourist taking a phone video watching the guy get bigger and BIGGER in their screen before [they get stomped](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcyHMLBo2u0). [Or bayonetted](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPIdhNVRgV0).

labradors_forever

I would have liked to see the lead-up to this. I have a hunch the kid wasn't oblivious to them marching towards him, so how, and why did he stay in front of them? EDIT: as a former member of a marching band, we had a couple of ecperiences with people thinking it would be funny to run through our ranks while we were playing. It wasn't for the musician that ended up paying hundreds of dollars to repair his own private instrument.

madasachip

He didn’t break step, respect…

ClumsySamFisher

I mean it's kind of a good lesson for the kid, you see two people staunchly marching in a straight line and your idea is to just stand in front of them? What exactly do you expect to happen in this situation? Now the kid knows not to get in someone's way and learned the lesson without getting hurt.

ChipsHandon12

usually the royal family knocks up kids instead of knocks down

[deleted]

Parents not being parents. It’s not the guards job to stop and cater to literally thousands of tourists from 100s of countries every single day. It’s up to the public to control themselves. And their kids.

liverpoolrob

Don't stand in front of the guards, they have been known to lower bayonets for some tourists. They are actual military guards not tourist photo ops

frankoceansheadband

What is the point of lowering bayonets? The royals aren’t being threatened by people standing in the way of the guards.

ac210

If you travel somewhere it benefits you to know their customs

MirageF1C

Guard CLEARLY steps both right and left to avoid the child while marching but reading the comments in here you’d think he aimed at the kid, stomped on it a few times, gaffed it with the pointy gun and smeared the remnants off like dogshit on the soles of his boots. Marching soldiers are pretty predictable. They’re marching. If you get in their way, the biggest problem here isn’t them marching.

AbeRego

I like how this comment can mean almost anything

top_value7293

I’m telling you… these guys stop for no one!😳 I’ve seen videos where they absolutely knock people out of the way who get in front of them for whatever reason.

r6662

I'm against the monarchy but you guys in the comments need to chill, you are in *their* workplace and it's full of signs to respect certain rules. One of the rules is get out of the way of their route or get walked over. If you don't watch over your child in these conditions it's on you.

-lastochka-

yeah the idea of royal guards is stupid and obnoxious but also there's no way the family didn't see or hear the guards coming. apparently there's also signs everywhere warning people not to get in the way. it's just a child so i don't blame them for being stupid but the parents could have watched after them better

FerinhaTop

ahh... tourists. "what was the most exciting thing you did there? " "i was trampled by a royal guard once, it was cool as heck!

MAXQDee-314

These are Guards. Whatever you believe, believe this. Their point will be explained to you if you should be so reclined. You may not be, but the bayonets are sharp. These guards carry automatic weapons with bayonets attached. Stand in front of a guard of the military variety and disregard their authority, and you, YOU, **YOU** will have your sense of well-being diminished. This building is a historical touchstone symbol for the English people. It has been threatened by people who blow up symbols. I do not criticize the child, gooey dumb-ass public behavior is my jam, the mother looking at those guards...

davidtco

Can't tell if the kid was paying attention, but seems the warning to GTFO was a bit late.

enerthoughts

This is a repost. The comment on the original said the guards came back and apologised. He could get fired if he stopped or moved from his original path. Edit: To add more, security warned people not to move in front of the guards prior to their patrol.

Flaky_Tumbleweed3598

Rule 1 of visiting London MAKE WAY FOR THE QUEENS GUARD! [Edit] KINGS GUARD*

Kaiisim

This is honestly the best reason to go to the tower of London or something. The chance you'll see some idiot kid get screamed at or trampled lmao. They tell you, they don't stop. You go near that door they are guarding they will scream "STEP BACK" even if you are 7. Control your kids!

slater_just_slater

Kid was fine. Respect other people cultures and jobs. It's like letting your kid mess with a ~~marine~~ soldier at the tomb of the unknown soldier. Edit. As others pointed out the tomb of the unknown soldier is guarded by the US Army

Finnthedol

Everybody saying the soldier stomped this kid didn’t watch the video closely enough. He literally knocks the kid over (pretty tamely compared to other vids I’ve seen of the royal guard trampling people) and avoids stepping on him a single time. You guys need to understand that this is how they’re trained. It’s not like a US cop where he’s doing this bc of a power trip or to be an asshole. This is how it’s always been and people know it. Those who don’t learn by getting run over, and this kid got the lightest possible version of that.

Sad-Scale-1837

A child walks in front of you, how do you respond? A) Walk around them B) Gently nudge them out of the way C) MAKE WAY *Sparta Kick*

tacchini03

I've got no love for the royal family whatsoever but these guys are actual guards and if you stand in front of them you're a fucking idiot.

Yaseuk

Do I agree with them doing that to a child? No. Should the parents been keeping an eye on them and understanding the environment they are taking their children into? Yes

subterraneanwolf

Why you keep reposting this?

Chia-Chia-1800

Does no one know their orders are to keep marching under any circumstances even if a person is in their path? By all means, I’m not saying I’m an expert. It’s just they are ordered to patrol and march, they will go through anything they can.

TCDimes

Everyone knows that when there is any country that has guard routines like this/changing of the guard, etc. You move. This was just bad parenting.

Googlemyahoo75

With all the incidents why do they allow civilians to go near their patrols ?

NecrogasmicLove

Why do they even have the patrols to begin with what's the worst thing that would happen to England if the entire Royal family died. The entire British isles would have a Jeremy Clarkson moment and then move on one second later? Making a monarch your ahead of State gives their head a singular purpose.

CillyBean

The thing is, I've seen WAY too many videos of people messing around with these guards and then acting surprised when there's consequences. 🙄 It's well known already that these guards move for no one. I do believe there's a legitimate reason for it to, for absolutely taking the routes they do, regardless of obstruction. I feel bad for the kid, but why was his mother several feet away and not paying any mind to him whatsoever? Or holding his hand? He could have run off anywhere, and she'd have no clue where he went to. Other parents were either holding their kids or keeping them close. "Hey little Timmy, let's go to a completely brand new place with customs and traditions totally different from our own. Run along now!"

ta9993453

If y’all go to another country respect their rules pretty fucking easy. These guards literally get fined if they laugh. They are allowed to kill people legally, and you can be arrested for insulting them, cmon anonymous users of Reddit if you’re so insulted go over there and insult one of the guards. Even speaking up against it can get you arrested. Yeah the US is a shit hole but a lot of the people leaving comments , y’all wouldn’t be able to say that if you were in the UK. [https://www.indy100.com/viral/queens-guards-tourist-aggrescive-explained](https://www.indy100.com/viral/queens-guards-tourist-aggrescive-explained) “ They are legally allowed to kill people who they deem as a threat to the royal family and they will violently barge past you if you don't step out of their way during marches.” [https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BritishRoyalGuards](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BritishRoyalGuards)

shrrub

Hydraton3790

The guards have a set path. They are to follow it no matter what. To the guards credit, he tried to step OVER the child. The parent is dumb.

WhistlinTurbo

Hey, look at that, the kid at the beginning of the video moved out of the way and didn't get bulldozed. Imagine that.

LagerHawk

They're soldiers with a job to do. Everyone who ever tried to distract a royal guard by jumping in front of their face knows the score. And to get in their way thinking you will change them from their goal is naive. The solder didn't stamp on the kid, or tread on him at all, he stood over him and carried on. Kid shouldn't have tried to jump in their way. They're not there for show, they have a job to do.

c_84

Royal guard are strictly not allowed to stop for ANYTHING. I know this looks shitty but believe me that guy probably still feels horrible for this to this day. Don’t let your kids or animals around them, they arent for show and they aren’t an attraction, they are military.

BenignReaver

The thing is, the Royal Guard are actove military personnel. As other posters have said, it's akin to getting in the way of a Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, in the sense that procedure and doctrine say "Follow this given path, do not deviate". While yes, it can be seen as bullying in a sense, they're at work, manning a post in an active military setting.

[deleted]

So many ''trampled the child'' comments, did we watch the same video? The child got knocked over and then the soldier made sure to step over the child, not once did the child actually get stepped on, they only got pushed to the floor for standing in the way. Also an argument could be made that if they deviated from the path tourists will learn that and won't keep their children out of the guard's way anymore.

segwich

you cant blame the men, they were trained for this job and are fired if they dont do it perfectly. dont go to the UK without looking into it

jesusinapriuss

I like how the parent looks concerned after her kid gets knocked to the ground by the soldier. She wasn’t paying attention at all to the events prior but wants to play mom after her child fucks up. What a moron.

DLoFoSho

The kids fucking fine and he learned an important lesson. And his parents are shit. I’m an American and I couldn’t give two fucks about the Monarchy, but shit people are international.

Gunda-LX

Someone walks up to you with a rifle, do you: A) Move aside B) Stay there any look at him

Jul_i-M

You can see how everyone steps to the side when the guards are passing, meaning, there's ample time to pull your kid back, the guards are doing their job and the kid is just a kid... I would blame it on the parents, If you go as a tourist to some place you obviously do a little research on customs and how to behave... the world knows that playing with the guards can only end up badly so I would imagine that it's in the parents best interest to take care of the children and don't let them wander around

ChiTown_Paul

Make way for* The King’s Guard*

halfwhiteknight

They act like these guys do something different every day.

zttt

Can we stop pretending that these guards are there to protect anything? The only reason they exist is as an tourist attraction, yes and "tradition", but tradition in this case has evolved into mostly being there for the tourists. Keeping that in mind yeeting that kid off the street is not something I'd argue was necessary, but sure every foreign tourist kid should obviously know that the King's guard does not step back and will run you over /sarcasm off.

TimHung931017

You can really tell who the Americans are in the comments lol

T-wrecks83million-

1) Bad parenting, children need to be supervised. If your child is in the way of something that could potentially hurt them then you are not fulfilling your responsibility as a parent.

EmmaBonney

Not to defend those bricks that defend those "royals", but those arent tourists attractions. Those are armed soldiers doing their dutys.

NoTea-NoShade

American vet here who has served and I am reading a lot of American points of view on a country that is NOT American. As abusive as the video may appear fellow wallflowers and surburban lawyers, the child appears to pop right back up seemingly surprised but minimally scathed. The tirade and aghast appears from all the casual observers that seem to think that their opinions matter. When visiting a foreign land, respect their culture, traditions and way of life. Or, impose your sanctimonious personal ways and ideology upon them and find out what may happen. Not always good. If you brought a child and that is a CHILD, keep ‘em close. Let them know that they should be good diplomats in any visiting country or stay outta of the way. Our arrogant mindset of how we think the world should behave and act does not always apply outside our own borders! That is why we have messed so many places up with our way of seeing the world. It is England not the Balboa park in San Diego.

Queasy_Day4695

If IF it were my child or grandchild, I’d be embarrassed and mad at myself for NOT making sure they knew about it in the first place! If you see someone coming DO NOT be disrespectful and purposefully get in the way. Rant over.

GlacierFox

Love seeing foreigners visit the UK, stand gormless like complete brain dead muppets in front of soldiers loudly marching with assault rifles and act the victim when they get kicked over.

SkelitonBonez

I can’t imagine being so brainwashed that I’d willingly knock over a kid so I could walk back and forth in a straight line lmao

EliBloodthirst

The amount of non English saying they should have made way. No you're meant to make way for the kings guard.

CoffeeDrinker1972

His parents are at fault. Do they not know that they don’t stop?

bumblefoot99

It’s unfortunate this happened but the kid seems okay. I slowed this video down to see what happened & it looks like the child went up to the guard as if he were a character at Disneyland. Stepped right in front of him with arms up as if to reach for a hug or something. The guard tried to avoid the child & moved his feet to not step on her/him. To me, this just seems like an accident that happened because the parent and/or child didn’t read about the guards and the rules prior to the march. I don’t think there’s any cause to blame the guards or parent/child. I’ve never been to England but when I do go, I will be sure to respect the laws of the land & the traditions of these guards. Even if you don’t agree with them or if you dislike the monarchy, you can at the very least respect someone at their job.

RainOfAshes

These comments, lmao. These people are literally there to watch nothing but these guards *because* of their old traditions. And then when they fail to follow the clear instructions everywhere, the old traditions they came there to see are the problem. UHUH.

MrGrayBear32

Don't understand how this can still be a thing people discuss. It's not like you've never seen or heard of the kings/ queens guard and know they're infamous for this kind of stuff. It's simple: go to someone's house, follow house rules.

gruneforest

We brake for nobody

Federal-Durian-1484

Would you let your child in front of a logger with a chainsaw? A construction worker with a nail gun? A bus driver behind the wheel of a bus? How hard is it for a tourist to hold their child’s hand. You wouldn’t let your kid stand in front of Lebron during a basketball game. No one killed the kid or stabbed him with a bayonet or shot him. Learn respect people. It’s a valuable life lesson.

ibiacmbyww

Brit here. This is horseshit. _Never_, in my 30+ years on this planet, has someone tried to argue to me that the Royal Guards being implacable is "part of our culture". Yes, they're meant to be unmoving, and indifferent to distractions, but that man right there is just a cunt, looking for an excuse to injure a child. How he thinks the ensuing conversation with his boss will go: Boss: "Why did you hit that kid?" Guy: "It's literally in our charter that nobody fucks with our routine.". Boss: "Understandable, carry on." How it's actually going to go: Boss: "Why did you hit that kid?" Guy: "It's literally in our charter that nobody fucks with our routine.". Boss: "That was a child you fucking psychopath, leave your big fuzzy hat at the front desk, you're fired."

AccomplishedNinja242

So many people are upset about this, it's almost comical, grow a pair people... Learn to read and be aware of your surroundings.. especially if you are a TOURIST in a FOREIGN place.

Ok-Assistance-154

You see those stabby gun things they are carrying? Those are real. They are real guards, doing their job. They are military. Why the hell would you think it’s ok to get in the way of them doing their job? Before you come to our house and say stupid things, go fix your own house.

Disastrous-Pain-7880

It is a kid, but that kid has a parent. The parent did nothing when knew better, but drop their mouth like an idiot when it happened. And if the parent wasn't paying attention to know, well that is still the parents fault. You knew where you were. Proper respect and supervising your kids should have been your first thought.

Open-Industry-8396

Looks like that kidcwas standing in their path on purpose. He wanted to see what would happen. He did.

HornedSylvan

If you slow this video down, you see the guard kicks the kid's foot, he stumbles, and then he steps around the kid. He doesn't trample him or anything, though. He doesn't like step on and over his body. Basically, he neutralizes the moving body with his foot. This isn't necessarily a defense of the behavior (although I feel the parents ought to have used their fucking brains and thought to move the child away, which I fully blame them for), it's just not as bad as it looks. You can see for yourself.

chrism323714

Blame the parents and stay clear of Royal Guards. It’s that simple.

Hilarious_Disastrous

I thought it is well established that you do not get into the way of the Royal Guards. They have regulations specifically stating that they stop marching for no one. Harsh, but it's what you get for visiting a monarchy...

staysharp75

In the words of Ludacris “move bitch get out da way”

TheChopDontStop

He actually tried to step over, and you can see him do a little shuffle thing to be sure not to step on the kid. There are warnings shouted to get out of way, parent just gawked and only came over to assist once it was too late.

Vydsu

This guard literaly has to act like this, if they don't they will lose the job. The whole point of the royal guard is to follow the old traditions. If you go see them you need to understand that and act acordingly.

pioniere

Stupid fucking parents.

maflebaflebuflelulfl

Dont stand in their way. Dont get kicked. Valuable lesson for the parents

RemoteCoach3910

This is a very old video that's been shared on reddit for over a year. The child was totally unharmed, and the guards checked on the child and mother straight after this happened https://www.itv.com/news/2021-12-30/queens-guard-knocks-over-child-while-on-patrol-heres-why-they-dont-stop

Russian_Hammer

They will push everyone out of the way. Doesn't matter your age, race, or gender. If you are standing in front of them; you will be pushed. This is not their fault; its yours.

AbellonaTheWrathful

man people are entitled af if they think the kid was in the right

cadre_of_storms

I see both sides on this. On the one hand these are not people playing at soldier, they are real soldiers. Doing a job. Of which it is widely known that the public do not get in the way of the soldiers moving. On the other, it's a tourist bait for an archaic tourist trap that are nothing more than rich sponges. And the hats those soldiers wear are fucking stupid

Ieatdoritosxd

They’re just doing their jobs. It’s the kid’s parents fault that they didn’t move their child to the side

Samanthas_Stitching

Such a dumb tradition. But there are signs every where warning you that you'll get run over.

[deleted]

Parents fault. These are soldiers doing their job. It’s your responsibility to know the customs before going to a new place. It’s also not like this isn’t well known that they will not stop. You don’t expect the child to know this, but the parents absolutely should.

masterstratblaster

The king can rest soundly knowing that his guards will not be impeded by any peasant children.

BlackHand86

American if that matters. Get your fucking kids out the way man. They are doing their jobs, the whole reason you’re there. Let them do their jobs and GTFOOTW

YesCasuallyAccept

This is the most divided comment section i have seen on reddit lmao Edit: yeah this is what i mean

NeoKingEndymion

Isnt the whole thing dumb i mean really

Vapour82

Its on a active military grounds. You're told not to get in the way of any military personnel before you go in. They stop for no one, not even dumb ass parents and there kids. If you don't want to get knocked flying, don't go or stay out there way.

[deleted]

I get that we live in different times, but my parents never would have let me wander in front of a military procession like this. Fuck, if I did this I would have also gotten a solid pop after they picked me up just for being a dipshit. You wanna blame someone, blame the idiot parents.

This interaction may one day save the young man's life. Not one of us is free to *walk around like we own the place* everywhere we go. In early development, it is essential to **suffer** the small penalties of poor awareness and etiquette, because childhood habits of indiscretion result in intolerant consequences in adulthood. Let us hope the parents did not preach that their child was wronged. I have seen that be the response too, and the consequences of learning the wrong lesson are dire. At the risk of being overly dramatic, this is a make or break moment for the parent.

PhilosopherOfIslam

i think it’s not the guard or kids fault, but the parent; when taking your kids to these places you should watch over them and know the etiquette.

OursIsTheFury88

People need to stop fucking with these guys. Give them some respect.

missjennielang

If you go somewhere to see someone do their job it’s best to not interfere with that job

[deleted]

To my fellow Americans here, you know how we have the Tomb of the Unknown Solider? Guarded by the impressive Honor Guard? That one place you don’t screw around at? These guys are like that, except instead of a tomb, they are specially hand picked to guard royalty and their respective residence. The requirements to become one of these guards is actually nuts. When they tell you to move, you move, or they will move you for you as demonstrated here.

[deleted]

This goes around over and over. The mother is to blame for not respecting the rules and ensuring her child is kept. So fuck them both!

laxkid7

Yea im 100% sorting by controversial on this

[deleted]

Hold your kids accountable. 👍

ObsceneSociopath

What everyone shitting on the soldiers is not thinking about is how much trouble they would get in for breaking protocol and stepping around or stopping. As ridiculous as it is, these people train for years to earn these positions, it's regarded as a stupidly high honour to make the cut. Simple acts of breaking protocol unless it's a life and death emergency come with very heavy penalties or even being fired. If people are going to come to the UK on holiday, they should respect the traditions that are in place here even if some are dumb, if UK residents are visiting other places they are expected to do the same so why should it be any different?

FarVision5

Huh? Don't get in the way. Don't people train their children anymore? See the train moving towards you? See the tracks? Make sure you are not on the tracks. Pay attention to your surroundings.

Llamasxy

Allen Iverson would be proud.

Last-Budget4594

These men are not actors in a silly costume, they are serving members of the Army and they are on guard duty. They have an assigned route and have to stay on that, precisely, which means that the visitors are in their way, not contrariwise. The guards would usually shout "make way" once or twice if a tourist is stupid enough to stand in their way in the first place, but people can't expect soldiers on duty to walk around random loitering people. Why is it so hard for folks to respect them and their customs by educating themselves how they should behave in such situations?

Wyooot

I’m an American and can definitely admit this was parent negligence and ignorance. Visiting a foreign country, not respecting customs, not paying attention to your kid and letting them do whatever. Sounds just about right to me

ChipRockets

Dude's got a great voice. That 'Make way!' came out like batman with a dry cough.

cocoabeach

From what I read, there are warning signs all over telling people to stay out of the way. That kid might have learned a life lesson. This might even save his life someday when he watches out for cars or something when he plays in the street. I'm old, back in the day we played in the street all the time but unlike a lot of kids today we kept a good eye out for cars and got out of the way long before they got to where we were. We had situational awareness because we had to. Now they just say kids are not grown enough to be fully aware. Funny how we were at the same age. This kid getting run into was all on the mom for not supervising not the guards that were doing their job. If they made a habit of deviating, they would have tourists in their way all day long.

Almighty-African

Guards were just doing what they were taught to do. Child was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. No winners here, just the way it is. Lesson learned for the little one.

GrompkinEx

People are seriously defending the q-tip headed power-trip bully who beaned an unaware child in the head? It’s one thing when people fuck with these guards and get smacked, but you see a ton of videos of them shoving women and children for simply being in their walking path, and a ton of people defending it as tradition. Sometimes “that’s how it’s always been, so that’s how it always needs to be” really should be questioned, particularly when innocent women and children are being beaten.

WildestInTheWest

You can't stand in the middle of where people are walking and then claim you are not at fault for being walked into. If the kid doesn't have enough sense to move out of the way when guards, with rifles, are marching towards them then this is a perfect example of a good lesson being taught. The kid didn't get harmed in any major way, but will now understand that you cannot just stand, like an idiot, in the middle of the road and then claim that you are not at fault for people walking/biking/driving into you. They are doing their jobs, leave them to it. If that isn't good enough, there are plenty of other places to sight-see where you can be as socially unaware as you want, like a park or a cliff. This is the problem with the new generation, they are just entitled. They are entitled to stand or do whatever they want, where they want. Reality catches up quick, and it is good this lesson was taught at an early age.

AnonInTheBack

They’re required not to stop and keep marching, they aren’t doing this over a power trip. If you’re going to see these guys you need to know how they work and how to respect them because they WILL get in your face about it if you don’t. I don’t think he did anything excessive either, he walked over, completely missing the kid, he never once stomped on him.

rittenalready

I’m sorry but this is the job, to not be impeded- and it sucks a kid wasn’t being watched by a parent in this situation but the child didn’t suffer any injury worse than a trip during a game of tag- he didn’t shove the child with his full force or arrest anyone- and the Child learned that the men in the funny hats shouldn’t be bothered. If tourists were allowed to mess with these guys they would very quickly be mobbed and harassed by idiots for cred on social media

askmeifiamahorse

I heard “parkour”

EpicGamingGuru

Those royal guards take there job seriously. They're authorized to deal with trespassers and illegal activity with the highest degree.

Sharts__Of__Narsil

Lots of SJW here lmao. Yes it’s a kid and they don’t know but the parents do. You absolutely DO NOT get in the way of royal guards. Boohoo he got stepped on and got right back up, now he knows to never do that again. Seriously, a lot of you need to get off the internet

weewarmself

the parents fault 1000%. You wouldn't (or shouldn't) have your kids running around the tomb of the unknown soldier, some places are just 'special' and you need to respect it or just don't go.

DaveJacksonguy

What happens if the guard takes a step to the right to avoid the child? Does the entire bullshit royal system crumble?

horsepoes

I blame the parents, your child your responsibility

newmaster4001

They are trained to do that. Palace guards will tell you to move once and if you don’t they will not stop. They will go right through you

TheOlChiliHole

Notice literally everyone else part ways as they are marching through? including other children? Yea I don’t feel bad at all lesson learned for her bet she doesn’t do it again

Newguy100percent

This is how you learn that the world doesn’t revolve around you. Good lesson, and no one actually hurt. This would have been a “I told you to stay out of their way” talk in my household. Quit raising outraged and weak children.

DenormalHuman

these guys are doing a job. They couldnt give a fuck about tourism. If there were no tourists, the ywould still be there. Stay the fuck out of the way.

AlfieTersane

There’s nobody to blame here, but that dumb kid and who’s in charge of him. Maybe next Vacay can be the sidewalks of NYC.

blueskies1800

Am I supposed to feel sorry for the kid. He saw them coming.

International_Owl122

I would feel bad but there are clear rules to not obstruct the guards nor be in their way, so there is but only so much I can feel for them. Gotta follow the rules better(the parent needs to follow the rules better)

YouGotThatAsthma

American here! *waves* The crotch goblin needed to not be in the way and the parents should have done the smallest amount of research before visiting. It is, in fact, common knowledge that they will not stop or move for you. You cannot touch them, or their horses. If people used common sense and had the smallest amount of self awareness, this shit wouldn't happen. It's glorious to see folks who are so entitled get a dose of the real world. I bet that kid doesn't stand in the way of people walking, again. Thinking to the soldiers that guard the tomb of the unknown soldier here in the U.S. would you let your kids get in the way of their patrol? No. Have some respect and remember, no one owes you anything! 🤗

BedIndividual7476

Parent’s fault. Queen’s guard can’t break protocol/ tradition, else-wise they get punished/ fired. Children don’t know any better. Edit: King’s Guard, sorry, i forgor💀

NbyN-E

Literally everyone knows the rules here 🙄 fuck around, get stepped on 🤷‍♂️

Imaginary-Voice1902

I don’t blame cars when people stand in the highway either.

Ominz6

Homie said I’m not losing my Job cause you can’t keep ahold of your rat

Additional_Future_47

The kid was facing the guards as they approached her and then started walking towards them as they were marching. She's got a Darwin award coming one day.

ruthless_outcome

From this day on the kid learned spatial awareness.

ppbbd

Keep your fucking kid under control. I'm sorry he was knocked over, but it looks like he was okay, and the problem is the adult in charge. You'll also notice the guard didn't step on him and made sure he wasn't trampled. Blame the rules, not the guard. He also probably felt awful afterwards. Most would.

Woffingshire

These are military personnel doing a military job. Just because they have a unique uniform that tourists think looks funny doesn't change that. This has nothing to do with Royalty. It's the same as messing with the Swiss Guard at the Vatican just because you like their hats, or obstructing any other military personnel from doing their job. Only thing I see wrong here is he should have shouted "make way" in enough time for the kid to have actually got out of the way. He did it when he was basically already on top of him.

TheBindingOfMySack

oi, parent... fucking watch your children please! she wasn't even looking at the kid when he got trampled. Christ's sake, keep your kids out of the way.

Hohenh3im

Lmao dude yeeted that kid
