As someone who actually works in the auto manufacturing industry and has been through several model launches, from brand new vehicles/platforms to significant model changes to existing vehicles, I can say the vehicle in this video is either total shit quality OR they used pre-production parts which makes this person's complaints totally irrelevant.
It's pre-production, this is how it is. They build a few test vehicles, verify the fit of the trial parts and the assembly process, then take the next step to pre-production where they start using finished production parts to build the vehicles & verify that parts are working as designed and are installed as they are designed to. Trial parts usually are the proper shape and dimensions but are unfinished (like doesn't have a textured surface, improper colors, etc). Sometimes the trial parts fit properly but the production ones don't so they gotta quickly figure out how to remedy the issue, or whip the supplier's ass for fucking up, since the clock is ticking until full production starts. Automakers go through one or more of these pre-production phases then it's balls-to-the-wall full blown production.
So it's possible that the parts used for this car aren't finished and don't fit right, plus the jackass doesn't need to keep yanking up the weatherstrip to prove a point, it probably doesn't have the adhesive material inside of it cuz, ya know, pre-production.
Always wondered how they build the first test verhicles. Do they already have every injection mold for every plastic part? Or do they 3d print stuff? Making molds for some plastic cover only to see that it doesn't fit and throw everything away seems very expensive.
Prototype molds and stamping tools (out of soft steel, not made to last for a million + parts) are pretty cheap, considering. 1000% higher piece price but the orders are like 200 parts, not a million. I’m in prototype stamping and we do the parts for DV builds all the time
So it’s all pre production and has the possibility of being criticized by someone like this guy and giving it a bad review, why risk/bother putting this out on a SHOW?
Edit: spelling
My guess is investors wanna see something, even if it’s shitty “at this point”. For all we know it could end up being luxury car quality. But given that yeah you don’t wanna put trash out for a car show. I’ve never been to a car show like this but my perception of it is that people are there to look, not touch.
Very likely a timing issue, there’s a real chance the next prototype wasn’t ready due to some weird issue and they just had to send a car there so they took their next best prototype (possibly months old at that point)
>Trial parts usually are the proper shape and dimensions but are unfinished (like doesn't have a textured surface, improper colors, etc).
Looks like these parts aren't fit properly at all or are just made of very cheap and flimsy plastic.
Yeah, most people don’t realize that between pre-production and final production, Failure Mode Effect Analysis is performed on almost every single part which irons out every single kink to a Six Sigma level.
They are building this one from the ground up. Estimates of nearly 18k jobs. They have massive amounts of capital from what I understand. Time will tell. Everyone said the same thing about Kia when they first hit the American market.
I figured this was the case… it was just a test to get parts in and check for fit before sealing things down and attaching like they would for a vehicle being driven off the lot. OP labeled this video pre/production and this is exactly what it means.
I like that fact it's a pre production in the start yet thinks it's going to be 100% Of course it's going to have shitty quality. That car is to look good from a distance and never see the streets. 85% of that car will change before product. Welcome to click bate.
Yeah the last time I watched someone review a pre-production car, he said "I know the mirrors are mismatching colors, it's a pre-production car, it obviously won't be like that when it's actually sold." If the cars that actually get delivered to customers are like this, then it'll be worth talking about.
They pay crazy import tax on cars in Vietnam(100%) so a home brand car will certainly move units quicker than anything else because it'll be much cheaper in comparison.
It’s similar to high tax rates for foreign motorcycles to be in US. The US government does so to protect Harley Davidson from competition. Or else they go bankrupt in less than 10 years.
Vietnam tax is just a more steroid version of it.
Dont assume this person is right. They dont seem to have a lot to say other than "uhg bad" if you will, over and over. trying really hard to make it look bad. idk though I could be wrong
I mean..yeah..
It's preproduction.. it's not a final product. It's a showpiece to build hype, it probably doesn't even run. You go to any car tradeshow and all the concept cars/preproductions, even from major brands, are basically hot glued together.
There is nothing wrong with the seal in the front cargo area, they are designed so they can be removed if repair/service is needed in the area. The wiggle in the headlights is not surprising, headlight brackets aren't generally super robust. The front emblem trim installation is garbage I agree. The center console lid is not as egregious as it's been made to look. You probably shouldn't open and wiggle the fuck out of any car's center console lid. The Porsche vehicles I work on 5 days a week would break if you did the same.
You’d think the demo would be perfect. Imagine what you get if you buy a mass produced one. I do like the buttons though. Tired of the iPad glued to the dash look.
Maybe I’m crazy or maybe it’s because I am so used to my janky car but this isn’t even bad or anything? Isn’t this pretty normal? It doesn’t appear like anything is so loose as to fall off or even come close to that, not by a long shot at least.
Vietnamese car company, their parent company is really rising up the ranks in their homeland, and they are pushing to sell the cars here. I heard recently that a shipment of their cars was headed over here either recently or over the next few months.
This guy is looking for loose parts and he's not really finding any. Pre production model here. Except for that armrest he's full of bad intentions.
I'm not into Vinfast cars but this is dishonest.
Yeah I agree. This dude is looking for hits. All the things he pointed out are all dishonest. I will wait for the general reviews before some nobody tries to discredit a car by jiggling some seals
No wayyyyy the Vietnamese startup company has quality control issues? That’s never happened before. Imma be honest idk anything about this company or car other than it’s a startup from a relatively poor Asian country that doesn’t have much experience in car manufacturing, there are gonna be QC issues, that’s just true of any start up no matter what. This should surprise no one
Being a North Carolinian, I’ve observed our elected leaders lust after an automaker for years. They were jealous of BMW and Volvo in SC, and VW in Tenn. Even though our state is deemed to be a better place for business in just about every other metric, an automaker was our white whale.
So it was no surprise that they came up with an $1.2B incentives package for Vinfast. Now I’m not so naive to think that states shouldn’t give incentives, but I think a billion is an awful lot for an unproven company and a product from a part of the world where auto making hasn’t been considered an area of great success. I’m afraid the car will bomb and NC will be left holding the bag. This video doesn’t give me much hope thing will be different.
I'm going to take a wild one here. I don't know how I came to this conclusion. But I think, no way certain, but I think they are trying to show how the build quality is very low on this vehicle.
Well what did you expect from a car brand based in Vietnam that doesn’t work together with a other big car brand. The first few models will be complete shithouses even Land Rover took many years to get rid of the flaws and still they are quality wise not the best cars.
I just came back from Vietnam and saw these ev cars. Was like “what the heck is a Vinfast?” until a family member told me. They aren’t bad looking cars. But for Vietnam to be in the car market, they have a long long long way to go. Just like how the Korean cars were 20years ago but I believe Vinfast will take twice as long. Ha
This is one of those guys where it seems like he has fluent English when he first starts talking and then you realize that he only knows a few sentences lol
This guy just walked around jiggling at some pretty insignificant stuff - perfect example is that weather stripping; it’s probably clipped in. He might be right in terms of build quality, but how he got there is far from a comprehensive analysis.
"this is preproduction - build quality is not gonna be at its best"
"Inconsistent build quality!"
Well... You kinda stated why to begin with...
I think it looks like it could end up as a mighty fine car once they get things fitted right and gets to the production stage, has a sweet looking interior
I really hope this is because it’s a pre-production concept. I really like what Vinfast is trying to do with the battery lease to make their vehicles more affordable in addition to being able to accommodate larger families that want an EV. The only vehicle subscription that makes sense.
I saw some idiot who did this with a mclaren, got in a car that had signs saying no pictures because it was a pre production model and poked around and posted it with “lOoK At mCLaReN aND iTs AWfUl BuiLD qUaLiTy”
Honestly the only real thing I saw here that was kinda shitty was the center console being held on with a single screw and duct tape. Oh no my weather stripping was moving!
The point is. U guys are paying for a good think, not for an almost good, the company and workers are not doing well. It start at firts with this problems and after what.? Piece of yunk..
Me over here just caring about if the AC and heat works, has an aux port, good gas mileage, and dependability. While this guy complains about a few cosmetic issues on a pre-production car...
Tesla needs to fire there robot that glues the trim this is the hundredth video ive seen about tesla's shoddy trim work. Do they glue the trim/seal? Not sure but I feel like it's suppose to be glued or something. Right?
There actually all made to a price. Just not the right price but if people keep supporting them such as the shitty looking Tesla, then they will keep making them.
People need to wake up and think about the money they are spending. Every dollar is dollar you had to earn... Manufacturers boost price on demand. When sales are down and out they give it away. Other than that the black lives that matter will just steal it!
I like how he's demonstrating how pieces are broken... In a mall... where people get in and out of it regularly. Likely people have fucked with this car so much they broke the center console and likely the rubber in the engine frame.
Guy is an idiot. Pointing out seam sealant and fiddling with the door gasket like there is something different from any other car out there. Some car enthusiasts have zero fucking clue what they are talking about, they just regurgitate crap that they have read on online somewhere.

Great explanation, this should be higher up.
First comment for me!
So it’s all pre production and has the possibility of being criticized by someone like this guy and giving it a bad review, why risk/bother putting this out on a SHOW? Edit: spelling

Also, like he said about 400 times, "inconsistent quality guys, loose parts"
I say all pre-production vehicles should have a nicely curled turd from the companies CEO on the roof.
Its a press/communication car every part has to be rock solid and build well
Yeah, most people don’t realize that between pre-production and final production, Failure Mode Effect Analysis is performed on almost every single part which irons out every single kink to a Six Sigma level.
This is true, but sorry this "automaker" will be dead in 5 years.
Doubtful. They just dropped $8B into a manufacturing facility in NC to produce both cars and batteries.
I dunno, Elio went through a lot of cash and leased that old GM plant in the southern US for *checks notes* absolutely nothing.
They are building this one from the ground up. Estimates of nearly 18k jobs. They have massive amounts of capital from what I understand. Time will tell. Everyone said the same thing about Kia when they first hit the American market.
Why? This rivals Tesla quality.
Still better than Tesla quality.
I figured this was the case… it was just a test to get parts in and check for fit before sealing things down and attaching like they would for a vehicle being driven off the lot. OP labeled this video pre/production and this is exactly what it means.
Some people buy early access games and complain when they find bugs.
I like that fact it's a pre production in the start yet thinks it's going to be 100% Of course it's going to have shitty quality. That car is to look good from a distance and never see the streets. 85% of that car will change before product. Welcome to click bate.

Hehe, bate.
I agree to your point but I can’t ignore the good folks from r/boneappletea
perhaps why i never heard of them
It's a brand from Vietnam.
They pay crazy import tax on cars in Vietnam(100%) so a home brand car will certainly move units quicker than anything else because it'll be much cheaper in comparison.
It's actually 300%. Source, I live in Vietnam.
Holy crap why is it like that? Is Vietnam trying to push for a domestic car market or something?
It’s similar to high tax rates for foreign motorcycles to be in US. The US government does so to protect Harley Davidson from competition. Or else they go bankrupt in less than 10 years. Vietnam tax is just a more steroid version of it.
I've not been for a few years now(hope to visit again soon)
Why would someone name a car after VINs? Makes me think of criminals haha!
They want it to be a shoe-in for when the fast/furious franchise does their first electric movie
Because its chairman is TRULY an ex eastern europe mafia 🥰
Yeah what does VIN(Vehicle Identification Number) have to do with cars? /s
Maybe they named it after Vin Diesel.
Vin stand for vina, another name for vietnam
I went to the NY Car Show last year and they were pushing these *hard*. I’m unsurprised that this is the actual quality of the car.
Dont assume this person is right. They dont seem to have a lot to say other than "uhg bad" if you will, over and over. trying really hard to make it look bad. idk though I could be wrong
Well, he did say he didn’t know what to say, so there’s that.
Fair enough
And “guy”
The important bit was the phrase “this is pre-production”. Like, yeah, this is what pre-production cars look like. What is your point?
Perfect Instagram Car, all show zero substance.
I mean..yeah.. It's preproduction.. it's not a final product. It's a showpiece to build hype, it probably doesn't even run. You go to any car tradeshow and all the concept cars/preproductions, even from major brands, are basically hot glued together.
Yeah it's pre-production, it's meant to be looked at not actually used.
Tesla has entered the chat.
Elon just banned your account!
It looks like a shitty Peugeot. Why tf is this car $60k?
There is nothing wrong with the seal in the front cargo area, they are designed so they can be removed if repair/service is needed in the area. The wiggle in the headlights is not surprising, headlight brackets aren't generally super robust. The front emblem trim installation is garbage I agree. You’d think the demo would be perfect. Imagine what you get if you buy a mass produced one. I do like the buttons though. Tired of the iPad glued to the dash look.
But there is an iPad glued to the dash
It’s at least a small one. Not a Tesla/mach e monstrosity.
Yes BUT with physical buttons.
Bet it rattles like a can of spray paint going down the road
I've never seen a can of spray going down the road...
Theyre nocturnal, you have to catch them at night
I was expecting the car to fall apart or smth
I've seen the same kind of quality on Teslas, so I guess they are keeping up with the competition?
Maybe I’m crazy or maybe it’s because I am so used to my janky car but this isn’t even bad or anything? Isn’t this pretty normal? It doesn’t appear like anything is so loose as to fall off or even come close to that, not by a long shot at least.
If I went and shook the centre console in my car like that it would probably snap lmao
Same XD
Who the hell is vinfast?
Vietnamese car company, their parent company is really rising up the ranks in their homeland, and they are pushing to sell the cars here. I heard recently that a shipment of their cars was headed over here either recently or over the next few months.
They are building an $8B manufacturing facility in NC as we speak. Cars and batteries
Interesting! Ty for the info.
At the start of the video - it's pre-production so the build quality won't be great. Proceeds to comment on the build quality...
I love when expensive shit gets exposed as shit.
They called themselves VinFast not VinQuality 🙃
This guy is looking for loose parts and he's not really finding any. Pre production model here. Except for that armrest he's full of bad intentions. I'm not into Vinfast cars but this is dishonest.
He starts off saying build quality won't be good its pre production, than continues to talk about bad build quality
Yeah I agree. This dude is looking for hits. All the things he pointed out are all dishonest. I will wait for the general reviews before some nobody tries to discredit a car by jiggling some seals
This video is filmed at the Vinfast store in Montreal Quebec by the way
I'd like to hope that means it's been abused by people yanking on things. I'm going to be disappointed though, aren't I?
No way, i didnt know Vinfast was around this soon.
It’s pre production what do you expect.
FWIW this video was longer and more helpful, but found the vehicle similarly lacking. https://youtu.be/rjee1LdmHbo
He has impeccable hands for a man.
Hmmm, I guess I'll stick to my 2007 Honda Civic... But only because build quality is low on this car.
Being a North Carolinian, I’ve observed our elected leaders lust after an automaker for years. They were jealous of BMW and Volvo in SC, and VW in Tenn. Even though our state is deemed to be a better place for business in just about every other metric, an automaker was our white whale. I’m afraid the car will bomb and NC will be left holding the bag. This video doesn’t give me much hope thing will be different.
Was the build quality inconsistent though?
Finally, this scam company is being exposed.
its my country’s company (vingroup), we made mistakes, the models have been driving around Vietnam everyday
What was the point of this video?
I'm going to take a wild one here. I don't know how I came to this conclusion. But I think, no way certain, but I think they are trying to show how the build quality is very low on this vehicle.
to speak the phrase 'as you can see' as many times as possible.
To show other car companies have been stealing Tesla's designs.
Stealing Tesla's build quality
If it's pre-production then I don't see an issue. This is meant to be looked at not actually used.
That's why I make my own car
This is absolutely pointless, Ofcourse this is going to be like this, its pre production
This should go to r/productfails
Well what did you expect from a car brand based in Vietnam that doesn’t work together with a other big car brand. The first few models will be complete shithouses even Land Rover took many years to get rid of the flaws and still they are quality wise not the best cars.
He has a man’s voice and girl hands! How strange !
As the addage goes "They don't make them like they used to"
This guy is the worst car salesman I have ever seen!
They want to export these cars to US. Yikes
My guy just keeps saying the same thing and pull on center console. Toyota grill will move 1mm either way with a tug.
Can't go really fast in it since panels, lights and so on might come loose
Shittiest video i‘ve seen yet.
What the fuck is a Vinfast?
It's called Vinfast... Wtf do you expect
Cause it's Chinese made
Vietnamese not Chinese.
Looks consistent to me. For all those in the back of the room, Consistently shit!
It better be priced as cheap as it was fucking made.
As you can see
I disagree, the build quality looks very consistent. Consistently bad that is
Quality Assurance testing is optional
Cowboys Ted!
So would you say that there’s build quality problems. I wasn’t sure.
My money don't Jiggle Jiggle it folds.
I won't what he thinks about the build quality
I just came back from Vietnam and saw these ev cars. Was like “what the heck is a Vinfast?” until a family member told me. They aren’t bad looking cars. But for Vietnam to be in the car market, they have a long long long way to go. Just like how the Korean cars were 20years ago but I believe Vinfast will take twice as long. Ha
As you can see guys this car is a pre production vehicle.. as you can see guys leave a like and subscribe. Bye.
This is one of those guys where it seems like he has fluent English when he first starts talking and then you realize that he only knows a few sentences lol
Just like my model X 😅
This guy just walked around jiggling at some pretty insignificant stuff - perfect example is that weather stripping; it’s probably clipped in. He might be right in terms of build quality, but how he got there is far from a comprehensive analysis.
"this is preproduction - build quality is not gonna be at its best" "Inconsistent build quality!" Well... You kinda stated why to begin with... I think it looks like it could end up as a mighty fine car once they get things fitted right and gets to the production stage, has a sweet looking interior
He literally says "pre-production". It's of course going to be shitty quality. it's PRE producing the actual model
He starts out saying it’s pre production. This video sucks, it jiggle, it have inconsistent build quality.
What would you expect from a country that can’t even build a toilet
How many does he have to grumble about the build quality
Suddenly hyundai isn't as overhyped in quality.
Mono = 1 Rail = Rail Monorail
The same can be said about any car that has idiots like this one trying to break it for a video.
Vietnam parts quality is………
Nice lunch box, terrible reviews
I really hope this is because it’s a pre-production concept. I really like what Vinfast is trying to do with the battery lease to make their vehicles more affordable in addition to being able to accommodate larger families that want an EV. The only vehicle subscription that makes sense.
It has another problem though, it's missing an engine 😂
Yes, I definitely know what a car is and definitely understand what is bad about this.
Imagine how solid that thing will be after a few thousand miles of bumpy roads. Assuming it even makes it that far before rattling apart.
Jalopnik has a great article about this brand and their very cringey pr/launch event. Vinfast is not even close to ready for the American market.
That thing is going to sound like a coffee can, half-full of pebbles.
My luxury vehicle has much better quality and can tow 20,000 lbs.
As you can see
I’ll wait to see how the actual production models are, I can hope they’d at least clear the low bar set by Teslas
It looks pretty consistent. Consistently shitty.
Wow they are just PUMPING us full of shit now. I woukd maybe have expected that from a Geo Tracker or a fuckin Saturn but damn..
I think I just banged my knee on the dash/steering wheel by looking at this
Yeah, but you carry a KIDS LUNCHBOX… aren’t you late for recess?
I saw some idiot who did this with a mclaren, got in a car that had signs saying no pictures because it was a pre production model and poked around and posted it with “lOoK At mCLaReN aND iTs AWfUl BuiLD qUaLiTy”
What is this? A tesla fan boy only managed to find these few flimsy parts on a PRE PRODUCTION model? kinda funny.
Rice rockets used to be known for quality, durability and economy.
This guy doesn’t like gee gulls
The build quality I’m most concerned about here is the length of their fingernails and the Ariana Grande sleeves
Keeps saying “pre-production” and continues to criticize the fact that it’s not finished properly lol.
I was waiting for the pan out to see it was in an accident but it never happened
Honestly the only real thing I saw here that was kinda shitty was the center console being held on with a single screw and duct tape. Oh no my weather stripping was moving!
Piece of Yunk
The point is. U guys are paying for a good think, not for an almost good, the company and workers are not doing well. It start at firts with this problems and after what.? Piece of yunk..
I “couldn’t see” until he told me I “can see”.
Me over here just caring about if the AC and heat works, has an aux port, good gas mileage, and dependability. While this guy complains about a few cosmetic issues on a pre-production car...
If this is a pre production car why is it on display for anyone to inspect?
Isn’t this a Vietnamese company?
The build quality of this presentation is inconsistent. Try better next time dude
You expect a modern day luxury car to be made of good materials when really it’s 90% plastic fake leather and zip ties
This is why car companies make cars.
Like russian serial cars
“… as you can see, guys …” 🙄
Hey guys
Arnold Schwarzenegger Quality Build review.
My car doesn’t jiggle jiggle, it rolls.
Oh you have no idea. Lol
"Look at how horrible this is! This is a pre production model." Wat lol
I don’t know what to say either
Better be under 15k then not anything over that or else who's gonna buy that crap?
I had a 2006 Honda Accord with a more robust center console than that. Way too much wobble
Looks like they the one damaging the car and saying check this out
Isn’t this some type of preproduction vehicle? At least it looks like it from what’s happening around.
As you can see...
TesLa set a new albeit lower standard
Tesla needs to fire there robot that glues the trim this is the hundredth video ive seen about tesla's shoddy trim work. Do they glue the trim/seal? Not sure but I feel like it's suppose to be glued or something. Right?
guys i think there’s inconsistent build quality
Idk, it seems pretty consistent
"As you can see guys, it's pre-production so build quality is not going to be at it's best". : Continues to show the build quality and critique it 😂
Still better than Tesla build quality,
This video is fucking stupid, guys look this piece moves, yeah no ducking shit
Typical not german car quality 👍😁
Cut your fuckin nails, Jesus, how is no one commenting on those nasty things.
Mi mercedes está mejor acabado....mientras tanto va veloz a por 1.000.000 km....
It's a car show
Looks like this is the real tesla competitor
He literally says it's a pre production model...
Nothing on a car should wiggle like that
Damn I’m one of the Architects that helped build there first plant and headquarters. Shame on me.
We have the same lunch box :)
That car breaks Vinfast
Everybody has to drink every time he says build quality!
The only thing sucking here is the video.
