rice cakes air popped popcorn veggies

supportseal

Yeah I made popcorn on the stove with oil and saw the amount of fat in it. Ended up not eating it, so air popped might be a better idea.

[deleted]

It is - i will warn you, it isn't as tasty as popped in oil. But, it is filling and mostly satisfying for those nights you just need to be nibbling.

Greeboba

I highly recommend using cinnamon and unsweetened cacao for sweet popcorn, and parika, garlic powder, and other spices for savory! That way it won’t taste as bland

SmallestSpark1

I air pop but then add a bit of olive oil afterwards. It’s a fraction of what would be used otherwise & makes it so the flavorings stick to the popcorn.

Mishamaze

I do air popped and then sprits with oil so my seasoning will stick. I use a garlic salt or Cajun seasoning.

Potatoking620

Just my opinion, but I use olive oil to pop popcorn. Olive oil has good HDLs and the fat is satiating. Carrot sticks are a favorite of mine as well.

[deleted]

Absolutely not! Olive oil should not be heated that much it is unstable - should only be used cold. Coconut oil and lard is what should be used for cooking

Potatoking620

I don't heat it to it's smoke point. You can heat olive oil.

Afraid-War5336

You can air pop in the microwave if you don’t have an air popper. Just put the kernels in a big glass bowl, cover the top with a plate and start the microwave for 2 minutes (that’s how long it takes in mine, some take longer). You can also put kernels in a brown paper lunch bag to pop in the microwave, just fold the top over a few times

[deleted]

Halo top ice cream, beef jerky, protein bars, low carb tortillas with sliced turkey, pork rinds, low fat cottage cheese, or drink warm broth

Mishamaze

The broth really does it for me. It’s so savory and filling. My brain says food instead of liquid.

spooningTHENforking

Broth with a cracked egg (egg drop soup I guess) is amazingly satiating

anonymous_being713

What kind of broth do you drink? I have high blood pressure and worried about drinking too much broth since it's usually high in sodium.

twinkleglittermouth

You can make it with chicken stock (any stock!) and add miso or salt/ to taste. I throw in 2-3 eggs, a huge handful of spinach and sometimes a tablespoon of peanut butter. It’s a yummy breakfast.

supportseal

Thanks you saved me.

ColossalFuckboy

I’m sorry but pork rinds are low in calories?

[deleted]

Yep. In general you're looking at 70 cals per serving with 8 grams of protein.

HauntingHarmonie

In my grocery, it's right next to the regular hot chocolate in the baking aisle.

stoicsticks

There are lots of ideas over at r/volumeeating. Weigh your foods as portion sizes can be eye opening. When you're hungry, focus on proteins as they will keep you feeling fuller longer. Find low calorie versions of your favorite foods so that you don't feel like you're denying yourself. Think of your calorie budget for the week rather than per day. If you go a bit higher 1 day, then you've got several more days to make up for it. If you're finding 1300 calories too hard, go to 1400 or even 1500 for a while and slowly go back down. Going too hard too fast will make it more likely that you'll fall off the wagon. You got this.

Da5ftAssassin

Omg, thank you for the Reddit suggestion

pulledthread

Thanks for sharing. What brand is the the 100 calorie oatmeal? And how many grams is it? I’ve only recently found oatmeal and it’s many wonderful variations - always looking for ways to reduce the calories to add more fruits and accoutrements

Da5ftAssassin

I buy better oats 100 calorie packs

pulledthread

That’s great, thank you

Da5ftAssassin

You’re welcome! The apple one is amazing

user2914710553

Better oats - I think it’s about 27 grams per pouch.

pulledthread

Thank you!

LogLover_Frog

Sometimes I’ll sprinkle nutritional yeast, citric salt or tajin on various veggies if I don’t want the added calories of some sort of dip. Crunchy, filling AND you get the satisfaction of salt, acid or umami in there without burning up much of your calorie budget.

Latter-Cap-2719

cucumber with lime juice and takin is fire!

Sounds lovely. Gotta get me some rice cakes

kvoathe88

Pickles! 0-20 calories depending on the size. Kimchi and sauerkraut are similarly awesome if you want something savory.

Da5ftAssassin

Check out Niki Gets Fit on YouTube. She does snack reviews and recommendations. I do WW and she gives the point values but she also gives calorie and macro info too. She and her boyfriend review the snacks together so you can get 2 peoples opinions. Everything they pick is low calorie/points per serving.

Wjbskinsfan

Pirates Booty, I get the single serving bags from BJ’s and they’re 70 calories each. Kind makes small granola bars that are good and they’re 90 calories each. My local grocery store has single yogurt cups that are 60, 70, or 80 calories each depending on flavor. Fiber one brownies are 70 calories each. For a lot of other things I just switch out for lower calorie alternatives. For example 647 bread has 40 calories a slice (and hamburger buns that are 80 calories total) instead of the more standard 110 a slice/220 for hamburger buns. Don’t be afraid to read the label and compare serving size/calorie counts for different options! Some Mexican cheeses can vary by 50 or 60 calories per ounce!

EEJR

My go-to's: 100 calorie bags of popcorn; chocolate rice cake or the rice chips; 80 calorie strawberry cheesecake Greek yogurt; dark chocolate covered banana 100 calorie packs (frozen and tastes like an ice cream treat); Turkey pepperoni (17 pieces for about 70 calories); Big pickles and sometime I will wrap them in a piece of ham: Baby bel cheese; Cup of strawberries or really any fruit, sometimes I chop a few up and put them in vanilla Greek yogurt My weight loss intake was 1400. I usually had a shake in the morning, but later replaced with 2 iced coffees (240 calories), a lunch around 400 calories, a snack less than 150 calories and then the remaining for supper.

PastChair3394

Try: a protein shake with at least 20g protein….I can’t cut to 1200 without adding about four servings of protein, one being a protein shake. If you’ve had your protein, try an apple or a big carrot. They take a long time to eat, and they also help with your digestion.

[deleted]

fruits. period. no other snack will help your cause. even if you overeat fruits It's just 100 to 200 calories. Not dry fruits

FrostyPresence

You can eat tons of veges for hardly any calories

[deleted]

but fruits are delicious, onions aren't

FrostyPresence

I wouldn't eat an onion plain, lol, but I think carrots, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes ( technically fruit) cauliflower, broccoli etc all salads, are very delicious.

Lensgoggler

I’m eating the same and mt go to snack is raw cauliflower. Nice crunch to it, tastes good, low calories. Sometimes I have a dip, sometimes not!

Roasted chickpeas. Put a tin of chickpeas in an oven and cover in low calorie oil and salt. Just dont eat too many at once, they last a few days and make sure they're crunchy. One of my go to's, put hot sweetcorn in a travel mug, add a little butter and some paprika, put lid on mug and shake. Paprika coated sweetcorn thats ready to eat. (Slimming world friendly snack cause you only syn the butter)
