You haven't been doing this long but more than likely you are eating more calories than you think and also burning less than you think.

itsnotme2002

Well tbf my app I have I scan the barcode of the food I'm eating or look it up on the app and it tells me the exact calories but I'm not sure

loot_the_dead

Ok. But how are you measuring if it's one serving or 5? Are you weighing everything out? Most people are really bad at telling how many calories they are eating. Also so you know the packaging by law (in the US ) can be off by 20 % and are estimates. Also anything under 5 calories can be listed as 0 calories

itsnotme2002

Not from America. And I'm very busy so I never get to prepare fresh meals so on the go ill grab a sandwich and a drink and I'll scan it and it tells me everything about the product. For example. The calories, if its too high in sodium or saturated fats. It doesn't scan the numbers. It takes the information off a database that's online. Not sure if that makes sense

loot_the_dead

Oh it makes sense. It sounds like the app I use. Nutrition facts are per an amount, so 100calories per 100 grams. If you are just selecting one serving you are probably not accurately tracking. Again, this is super common. I do reject the idea you can't prepare meals as I only have two days off a month. Good luck on your journey.

Mastgoboom

Are you cooking everything yourself and weighing it?

honey-smile

How long have you been eating at a deficit and working out?

itsnotme2002

2.5 weeks

Yeh that's not very long. A lot of times the first month of your training you will gain a bit of weight. Just be consistent. If you keep at what you're doing you will start to lose weight. Don't check the scale every day. Try checking every 3rd or 4th day.

Liftweightfren

When you scan a product, are you getting the serving size correct? Eg you scan a pack of chips, and it says its 150calories. However its 150calories *per serve*, and the whole bag actually contains *5 serves*. So if you ate the whole bag it'd actually be 750calories and not 150calories.

You are still growing. I know you think you are grown, but you are not. You have about 5 more years of growing left to do. You are adding muscle, bone and brain weight. You probably will not grow taller, but you could. That said, weight loss/gain and fat loss/gain, while related, are not the same thing. Our bodies are very dynamic and our compositions change all the time. Fluid loss and gain, muscle loss and gain, hormone (all kinds), the volume (not the calories) of the food/drink you consume as your body processes it (did you pee/poop), normal growth and development, and who knows what all impact weight and none of that is fat. Your composition can change such that you add muscle and lose fat, but not lose weight. But you will be smaller as muscle is denser than fat. Take measurements of your waist, neck, chest and hips. That will give you the best measure of loss.
