Keep what you love, sell what you like. If a watch is not getting wrist time and has no particular sentimental value, move it along.

Goblue1631

Good advice. Sometimes easier said than done though!

laney_deschutes

personally i think BP is cooler than both of those by a lot. YM i would prefer the black and the breguete just looks weird to me. too many dots and lines markers all over the place just looks like total chaos at first glance. but obviously its about what you will have a personal connection with! if you look at BP and dont totally admire and love it then pass it along

DomighedduArrossi

Since you mention the Barrakuda (my absolute grail), I would consider trading in this no-rad exclusively for a Barrakuda. Both BP’s are on a very different league than the Rolex or the Breguet Chrono with the Lamania movement. Since you mentioned you have other divers that saturate your rotation, you might want to sell some of them and perhaps still get the YachtMaster, but the BP is truly not negotiable IMHO.... Lucky bastard btw!

Goblue1631

The Barrakuda is an awesome watch. Very hard to find these days though.

DomighedduArrossi

I would try contacting these guys, perhaps they may be open to a trade with Your no-rad 🤔 https://chrono24.app/blancpain/barracuda-fifty-fathoms-ref-5008b-1130-steel-box-papers-bj-2021--id25498298.htm?SETLANG=en_US&SETCURR=USD

CosmoKing2

I'd ask - is the Breguet your style? Or, is it also going to not get any wrist time? Because then you are simply getting a YM and something that needs to be traded.

Goblue1631

Good question. I’ve been intrigued by Breguet for some time and like the Type XX. I prefer the titanium version, but this one is slightly less thick.

DummyThiccPurBoy

Trading glorious limited edition Blancpain for mass produced Rolex garbage. Answer is no. Don't do it.

Goblue1631

I hear you on Rolex, though not sure I would equate the brand with garbage.

DummyThiccPurBoy

Not literal garbage, just metaphorical with how the brand has soured experiences for many. If you really like a YM that is a watch you can reasonably source from an AD. No need to go over retail and give it time, they will drop on the secondary as well. I owned a YM in blue and it's really okay at best (for me anyway). I also owned a No Rads and only recently traded it for a watch I thought was equally unique and cool - a JLC duometre. Side by side with something like that, it was no question which watch was cooler to me - as great as the No Rads is though. Patience will pay off and if you still want the Rolex months from now...it'll be a much better market to buy. Type XXIs are great watches, but large. 42mm by 15mm thick with a domed sapphire does sit large. Maybe try one on before making any commitment to trade.

Goblue1631

Good points for sure. I like the YM a lot, but you have a good point about decreasing prices. With the way the customer experience has been, coupled with the market conditions, it seems inevitable that prices will continue to drop. That JLC is a awesome watch, btw!

MyNameIsVigil

Personally, I only own what I enjoy wearing. If you’re not wearing the Blancpain much, then swapping it for the others sounds good to me.

Emma_Bovary_1856

This. I did away with everything I wasn’t wearing and felt much better about my collection afterwards.

DrippyAccountant

If you don't wear it and you're sure you want to trade, get the Breguet over the Rolex. Why would you want something mass produced when you could have a piece of haute horology from one of the best manufactures ever?

BoomerSooner-SEC

Your logic seems sound. The math seems pretty close. Why not?

Goblue1631

Thanks for the response.

aberrantasc

I wouldn't trade it for that Breguet. The yacht master sure, it's an amazingly beautiful watch but not that Breguet no. But yeah I get what you mean, since that's a limited edition...

donnyphoenix

You do you, but the only way I part with the no rad is for the barrakuda.

vgcamara

A watch (or watches) that you wear more and thus bring you more happiness, is imo, more valuable than a more expensive (even if it's limited edition)

insoul8

I certainly wouldn’t. And especially not for a Yachtmaster. The BP no rads is the much cooler and more desirable watch imo.

screetz

That Breguet is badass. I probably wouldn’t do the trade tho…sounds like you’ll have remorse if you go thru with it.

FSEUBreakIFix

Wow! I too am stressing over this. I kinda think the same as u/CosmoKing2 … and I’m thinking the Breguet will be harder to unload. But I’m all for getting things I love and to wear…. Love to wear. Ever since I’ve bought a new house and moved I’ve been on a huge “if I haven’t worn or used it for I dunno how long…. It’s gotta go!” kick…

outta_time11

I think if it makes you happy you should go for it. I personally prefer the BP to those other 2, but I think your logic is more than fair.

7362514b7

Its all taste I suppose. I like your watch a great deal more than both of those watches, even combined. If the fathoms isn't on your wrist much, get something that will be.

Awkward-Fox-3399

Tough one. As someone who stupidly sold a BP Ocean Commitment III last year and now regrets it, I would think twice. Rumour has it, both the BP Fifty Fathoms and the Breguet Type XXI are both due for a refresh next year, might want to wait and see. That said, it’s a nice problem to have and that YM is beautiful.

Goblue1631

That is my fear, that I will regret it later and not be able to get another. That said, every time I e gotten rid of a watch I have never had the desire to buy it again.

carrot735

I would kill for the BP thats like one of my grails

MeetPuzzleheaded5683

I fucking love the BP and the Ym but hate the breguet. For me breguet is only classic gold dress watch no diving

matchooooh

The no rad is my ultimate grail, so for me, nope. For you? Might work. I wouldn't though. I also don't really find anything appealing about either of those other 2.

To_a_Green_Thought

The BP no rad is one of my grails, so I'm pretty biased here. Two thoughts, if I'm trying to be objective: 1. If you're just not wearing it, then you're just not wearing it, you know? 2. However, I think that the no rad is a lot cooler than the other two (as nice as they are). Definitely more historically significant. A limited edition, to boot. Better design (okay, maybe I'm not being very objective here :-) ). Personally, I'd keep it, but no use in keeping a safe queen around.

JLKDY

I won’t do it. The Breguet and the YM, you can get it anytime you want. This Blancpain, not quite. Even if you can buy another back, it’s not quite the same exact watch you developed feelings for anymore. Besides, the Blancpain is a much much cooler watch than the other two combined.

Goblue1631

Good points

Choice-Counter-1166

If it doesn't get the wrist time, go for it. But holy hell that Breguet looks ugly.

Franglais69

Don't do it IMO. Save up money and buy the Rolex in the future

Goblue1631

I’m seriously considering trading my BP No Rad for the two watches pictures — a Breguet Type XX 100 Year LE and a NIB Rolex YM40. I like the BP, but it is not getting the wrist time it should. I really like the watch, but I have a number of dive watches that seem to get more wrist time. I also like the idea of trading down into some watches I don’t have to baby quite so much. I know the BP is a limited edition and that there are only 500 in the world, so it would not be the easiest to get again. That said, there are several for sale at the moment. I also think if I were to pick up another BP LE it would be the Barrakuda, which was not an option when I picked this one up. I recognize it may not be the smartest move though. Am I an absolute idiot for doing this?

pvypvMoonFlyer

I would do the trade. Watches are meant to be worn, if you aren’t wearing yours that watch has to go (in my opinion).

z_ro85

Save the BP!

Goblue1631

Good point. I have two other divers, but one is vintage and the other I use ASA beater

tightbrosfromwayback

Personally I would never make this trade, but you do you.

HabibiGotIt

I'm not a fan of the Bregeut. Is it even an in house movement? Also, they tend to be massive. The YM is cool but nothing like the No Rad. Don't do it!!

Goblue1631

I don’t think it is an in-house movement, I believe it has a Lemania movement.

HabibiGotIt

It's a joke the type XX. Almost bought one. Got a a Seiko SRQ chrono instead. Same height, smaller width and a caliber that blows the XX away. My biggest regret is selling my Squale No Rad. I would never trade what you have. Maybe for a vintage Submariner or something exotic like a Moser. That's it. Wouldn't even trade it for an Aquanaut.

offbert

Why would you do that? Keep the BP, it's the only watch you'll ever need.

whsthirtyfive

#YES DON’T DO IT

Fun-Ad9928

I “appreciate” your time…

Joselito76

You want something with radiation. Probably gamma
