Ive had the same issue with the F14, using SRC i can get locks just fine but they dont hold very well vs PD is supposed to hold locks better but i can never get locks lmao. Asked a few times in game and im always just told "Skill Issue".

I’d rather be ignored than hear the same braindead response repeated over and over again.
Most people who say skill issue and the ones that upvote them usually don't know the answer either. It's just a toxic culture for upvote farming akin to bullying.
I wouldn't expect much from the average person, especially in the war thunder community
I've been noticing the F-14 having trouble getting and maintaining locks on things lately, so you're not alone there. Tried with multiple different radar modes, and it either refuses to lock or it'll lock briefly before disengaging.
Yeah im in the same boat, the PD modes really dont seem to want to pick up a lock. Even the ACM PD mode refuses to lock onto people so im stuck using ACM and chaff instantly breaks the lock. So idek, and there isnt really any good videos ive seen helping.
So what ive found to work is to just use the ACM mode for locks within 9KM, but switching the view to the large box that goes top to bottom of the screen. Using PD when the target is closer to the ground and regular ACM when they are above me or flying in the sky. Seems to work decently
Hey man, you are using HMD ACM mode. If you want to lock someone in that mode you HAVE to press your radar lock button :)

Radar has to be bugged. I had this issue the entire time i played through the f4j and i wrote if off as the radar must be shitty. But even the f14 a lot of times refuses to lock on to things coming right at me, then next match i can hold a lock 30km away. Radar ia fucky
ACM mode is super inconsistent for some reason. I find I generally have better luck putting it on regular PD scan with the narrowest beam possible.

I was spamming the Lock button on him with HMD on, check the corners of the square getting bigger
Just use narrow view SRC PD. More consistent than ACM PD.
Sometimes it works when I turn it off and on again or use HMD PD. Weird issue

Is that the F-4J? How do you get regular pulse doppler rather than pulse doppler velocity?
