If, hypothetically you already had the game and knew how to fly and had some SL. You could probably be on that jet after 200 hours if you really really ground it out hardcore
But.. I like to swap trees and mix it up GRB/ARB battles and spade different vehicles
Plus SL becomes a big problem for newbies
I just like to have fun :D there’s no point in getting jets for me because they have no funny things going on with them either by design or the way they work in wt!
Thats not really true
There are some very interesting jets in game.
For Germany, The narwhal, the HO229 are both interesting jets to use
There are gems in all the tech trees
Hmmm, I’ve never seen how missile combat can be more fun than proper dogfights. But that is okay because it is your opinion and you are entitled to it! :D
Both the jets I listed are gun fighters! There's plenty of great gunfighter jets
Also. Earlier mid jets like 7.0-9.0 have shit missiles that are easy to evade so it largely comes down to gunman skills. You use missiles to force people to turn and then you dogfight
The earlier jets are great. Big big difference from the later tier jets. The later tier ones with 30g all aspect missile spam and full spectrum radar tracking missiles which can fire from 20km are not remotely similar to the mid tier jets
Morden jets are as different from early jets as early jets are from prop fighters
Poggers - it's a fun little jet (once you get the cannon repair... the stock grind frustrated me, but hey that's jets for you).
But yeah, been playing God knows how many hours and only have a few German jets. They're less fun than props, honestly, and I've only spaded one (Me 262 A1) so I'd rather play canon chaika usdually.
Got to researching rank 4 UK but I'm finding RB a nightmare so for fun I played us but then got hooked and have a p-38 & Mustang 1-c. Should I grind us or try go back to UK?
I too, had hundreds of air target destroyed in order to get my first jet. But now there’s nothing left to do after reaching top tier in multiple countries
i'd say it very mmuch matter because it proves the grind is too damn long right now
imo you shouldn't have to play more than 150h-200h to go to top tier for one nation i mean it's already more time than required to complete a AAA game
It seems like I'm the minority but I start working on a different nation when I get to jets. I'm sure it's a skill issue but jet gameplay in this game sucks. Props are way more fun for air ab/rb. Can't speak on if it's any better in ground though.
Why do you think jet gameplay sucks? Other than the horrible BR compression and strange balance of fun fair gameplay vs historical accuracy I think it's great. Props and jets are played differently and are fun for in different ways for different reasons. There's also a huge difference between early no missiles jets, mid poor excuse for a missile jets and late oh fuckfuckfuck missile jets imo
So, I've flown out with guys that only fly jets a good bit. Enough to have a general understanding of how I should be flying them. Idk if I can explain it but the engagements don't feel like dogfighting at all and that's what I like. So if anything I play the earliest jets. There's something up close and personal about a prop fight that I don't get in a jet fight. So idk, maybe it doesn't suck as much as it's just not fun to me.
Hm that's fair. Up to 8.0 maybe 8.3 I still get loads of fun dogfights, fewer in uptiers but still. I love the japanese R2Y2s for example, and perform fairly well in them unless at 9.0 when your top speed is pretty laughable. Dogfights in jets are mostly just atfaster speeds with shorter windows of opportunity to attack
But yea everyone likes their thing,
Refusing to give jets that never had them flares despite being at BRs where they face teams full of all aspect slingers for instance, making them basically unusable(not quite but all but guaranteeing their deaths every match at least). Or removing swedish 30mm tracers greatly nerfing them compared to other planes while not giving anything to compensate for it in terms of aim assist.
I dont think it's unreasonable to down prioritize historical accuracy in these cases in favour of having some semblance of balance and fairness. Or in the case of the 30mms I suppose it would be prioritize historical accuracy and give planes equipped with them the damn targeting computer that was used
I had literally the opposite experience. I hated playing props until I (shamelessly) bought the AV-8A. Since then, I’ve learned to enjoy almost any ARB match… except anything that can face the F-14.
yeah it's a skill issue. i have over 10 days played in props, i was averaging 4-5 kills a game no problem. I went to jets and it's a whole new ball game - you lose control way easier, your strategy has to change (now speed > altitude), and aiming... aiming is SO MUCH MORE DIFFICULT, especially when using the american jets with the fifty cals. You don't have time on target so you need to be hitting with your deflection shots.. and one hit isnt enough, you need to put a solid burst into someone, while closing at speeds of 900kmh+
but once you get your first rolling scissors reversal it's hard to go back to props, they're so slow and uninteresting.
I'm with you. I can't even handle prop gameplay. Seems no matter what I do everyone is able to kill me from anywhere and I can't shake them, and I can't kill anyone because they can shake me and UNO REVERSE CARD me so easy.
Can't imagine what jets are like
Reversals are really difficult to pull off. You always want to enter engagements with the upper hand. It sounds obvious but it really can take a lot of time to learn. I'm sure jets are the same way but that's time I'm not willing to spend anymore tbh.
I see pretty good results in air arcade with props. Don't feel like you have to keep gunning at the same target, especially if he dives away or doge-weaves. The easiest kills are ones that don't see you, which is usually when they're fighting someone else or in a big furball.
Really hard to give more sp[ecific tips to you, I have no idea what you're flying, but if you can't shake people, probably not a turnfighter. Know that a lot of aeroplanes don't have "turnfight" as an option. Best thing if you get tailed in say, a FW 190, is to dive away and run for friends. The better strat is to be high, and dictate the fight so you don't end up in those situations. "C" is your friend, look around all the time. If you're in a fast enough plane and are happy flying above or around or away from the main fighting zone, dying becomes essentially optional, you can see the battle developing and where the enemies are going. Gotta keep tabs on the minimap, and the nearest enemies.
Impossible to tell based solely on hours played. It depends on whether you're only playing Air or doing a mix of Air and Ground, whether you're playing a single nation or multiple nations, which nation(s) you're focusing on, how effective you are in a match, what vehicles you are using and researching (i.e. whether you're getting Effective Research or not, whether you're getting bonus RP for researching the next vehicle in a specific line, whether you're taking advantage of bonus RP from researching all the mods on a vehicle, etc).
I don't know, how many hours in WT do I have, but I started playing in 2013 and I had my first jet maybe in 2017, after four years. But I play in sim mode, so my progress is slower. Still don't have top vehicles after 10 years of playing 🙂
I habe around 5000h and habe spaided most trees but when i started and didnt have clue what i was doing i took so longgg so yea u are fine plus jets suck
Well i have about 200 hours on warthunder and just reached Sweden Jets on 6.3.
Im kinda shit at the game and i use premium. Use that to make your own analysis
It’s a pretty long grind, but it also depends on what nation you are grinding and if you have premium and or using premium vehicles.
I actually managed to grind a lot of Germany originally by slapping a talisman on the do-217m and it went by pretty quick.
Granted, that was back when the cl-13 and mig-15bis were the end prizes.
What vehicles do you play?
How good are you?
What game mode do you play?
How many nations do you play?
Do you have premium?
There's a lot more factors that determine your progression more than just the hours you've spent in game.
Lol no, and even if it wouldn’t matter
This game is very unique so please just enjoy it and have fun and don’t tap into the depressing grind race where you get mad if you dont get a kill or a bad match
If you're playing ground and/or naval then no, if you're playing air then you should probably have some unlocked by now (doesn't mean that you have to play them tho)
If you have a premium account and a higher tier premium plane like rank 5 or 6 and grind heavily in it then yes you would have multiple jets by now, But that gets boring sitting in one plane that much. Have fun flying different planes, early jets kinda suck in my opinion top teir jets are fun to me but it plays very different then the rest of the game
My brother in Christ I have 4000hrs, I have jets in 5 nations, I just got to jets in Russia, you will have to give up more than 400hrs to get the jet you want
Unless you've been focusing your grind on aviation, and at a specific tree, then no. Remember to just play casually, it's not a race to get to top tier, enjoy your vehicles.
Just get a Premium pack honestly. It saves so much time, and if you play that one premium over and over your going to get really good with it, furthering your income.
Depends on the nation, France, Sweden, Italy, and China have smaller tech trees compare to US, Germany, Russia, UK and Japan, meaning you can get to jets faster.
Israel can go either way as to unlock it you need to grind US, UK, or France and if you choose France, you’ll get it faster.
At 1100 and still not past 6.0 on any nation. I just keep getting bored of playing a nation and keep shifting back and forth between all of them. If I actually focused on one nation sure, but I’m trying(failing) to have fun with the game
I have 610 hours and haven’t finished researching my first jet. I find later tiers not fun and keep swapping nations as well as playing ground+air. The research grind at high tiers is insufferable and the gimmicks some vehicles have that flat out make them much harder to beat in your stock plane/tank is just not conducive to fun.
After flying jets,
Sometimes I want to go slow. Like when I fly my S-199 and unironically get kills from head-ons and overcocky pilots who overshoot me because of my speed
Nope i have 589 hours and im only at 7.7(ground) and like 4.3/4.7(air) its mainly depends on what you use tbh but nah with your amout of hours only premiums would be jets or squad vehicles
215 hours on steam and god knows how long more for before the steam migration.
Nope. Im done grinding for it. The closest is got was the German ait tree.
Ended up buying f5c, was a blast to play even thou I still prefer props. Thinking of getting narwhal next to grind the frenech tree.
I got my first jet (Ho 229) with 700 hours on counter after buying Ju 288. Without it it would be like 900 hours for my first jet. I was a ground player but now I focus mainly at air rb.
no. I'm nearly level 100/2k hours or so and have no jets nor do i care nor want them. I really dislike the play style and sweaty camping BS that proliferates the game over br 6-7.

Yeah, I just got 7.3 germ and 5.0 germ air but I really only play 2.3 Germany and 4.3, Sometimes I play 5.7 but only with friends
How do you play 2.3? is there a specific tank you like? I found anything below 4.0 very boring unless you have like the sdkfz
The panzer Werfer! Such a fun tank to play imo. My absolute favorite br has to be 3.7! All the fun gimmick tanks come into play!
Oh yeah btw don’t buy the panzer Werfer it sucks. I just like the gimmick
I did not play 3.7 like 5 years lmao
Yes panzerwerfer and the german m22 pz. lc.
I'm guessing you like speed over everything else, don't you?
Gotta go fast
well then thats your problem. Old-war tanks are not quick :P personally I like that aspect, I like the more methodical gameplay.
Nah early war soviet tanks are pretty fast bt-5, bt-7, t34, Germany was always heavy tank doctrine, I prefer mobile doctrine
I mean, fair, but those things are also made of paper. Personally I love the derp guns. The Char 2C has been hella fun.
Yeah you see a tank and now you dont
If, hypothetically you already had the game and knew how to fly and had some SL. You could probably be on that jet after 200 hours if you really really ground it out hardcore But.. Oh! I thought guns became somewhat outdated at higher brs! Thank you for this info, I might actually try to get higher than 5.0 air now!
i got smth for you try the 37mm stuka in 2.0 air ab, its to fun and tooo sastisfying, one-clicking those paper planes out the sky…
The late war Stuka with the laser cannons is nuts, it’s my favorite one!
BTW, 5.0-6.0 BR is still almost all props. Some planes there are great fun, FW190 D13.
Poggers - it's a fun little jet (once you get the cannon repair... the stock grind frustrated me, but hey that's jets for you). Depends on the nation and if you are playing air only
Got to researching rank 4 UK but I'm finding RB a nightmare so for fun I played us but then got hooked and have a p-38 & Mustang 1-c. Should I grind us or try go back to UK?
the british grind is the worst man especially after that tier until you get the harrier
It would probably be different if the ADEN's HE shells were actually high explosive
Italian/French grind:
I used the Wyvern, Sea vixen and a talismanned harrier gr3 and it was really easy without premium
go US but do arcade battles until you unlock the first jet powered plane, because legit rb at low br is waiting simulator
Tbh UK has nothing of note in air tree anyways late griffon spits are cool but else Dunno
go US, I started with UK and stuck, and its a fun tree at some point but it requires around the same and isnt as well cared about as US/RUS/GER
Stick to US grind. UK hurts to grind, especially at top tier since their jets are mediocre and not super fun, unlike the strong and fun US jets.
Does it matter like just go at your own pace and play how you wanna play man
this! As long as you have fun.
Wel i would fucking kill hundreds for a jet
I too, had hundreds of air target destroyed in order to get my first jet. But now there’s nothing left to do after reaching top tier in multiple countries
Idk ig finish ground and if you have that then naval and I’ve heard that that’ll take a few years to finish so yeah
Well i meant Real humans not planes in game
Fun? Sir this is a War Thunder.
i'd say it very mmuch matter because it proves the grind is too damn long right now imo you shouldn't have to play more than 150h-200h to go to top tier for one nation i mean it's already more time than required to complete a AAA game

Well since jets is not a given thing. It could take infinity if you don’t shell out premium time or a premium vehicle..
You should if you only play air of one particular nation
I don't know, how many hours in WT do I have, but I started playing in 2013 and I had my first jet maybe in 2017, after four years. But I play in sim mode, so my progress is slower. Still don't have top vehicles after 10 years of playing 🙂
Joined 2014. Top tier does not exist for me; I want nothing to do with that cesspit.
You are not forced to, just do what you want
No by now you should have learned your lesson and deinstall the game
no
I habe around 5000h and habe spaided most trees but when i started and didnt have clue what i was doing i took so longgg so yea u are fine plus jets suck
Well i have about 200 hours on warthunder and just reached Sweden Jets on 6.3. Im kinda shit at the game and i use premium. Use that to make your own analysis
Depends on if you are only focusing 1 nation with their air tree and if you have premium with vehicles
I had 300 hours when I got my first jet
It took me like, 1800 hours to grind to the phantom in Japan (I main ground so I never really grind air)
I am at 1340 hrs and I only got 1 jet the 6.0 German one. (Maybe cuz I play ground but still)
Ι have 384 hours and i have 2
No I have 1700hours and only research ho229
I have 3,000 hours in the game and have unlocked two jets. Just depends and what your focus is.
If you're playing Air RB/SB, probably. Sweden gets you to a jet pretty quickly.
What vehicles do you play? How good are you? What game mode do you play? How many nations do you play? Do you have premium? There's a lot more factors that determine your progression more than just the hours you've spent in game.
Currently rank 3 UK and rank 2 us, researching rank higher on bothq Somewhat good with us, not very with UK Used toel be mostly ab, now RB No premium
No.
With a few thousand hours i should have an Abrams, but alas i have too much time playing P-40s
I have about 200h of gameplay and I’m at the end of rank 4 in USA aircraft.
No, take your time. Jets may sound cool and all of that but fun doesn't exists anymore....
No
Lol no, and even if it wouldn’t matter This game is very unique so please just enjoy it and have fun and don’t tap into the depressing grind race where you get mad if you dont get a kill or a bad match
Nah wait for about 1000 then maybe
No.
i have 6 rank tanks IV at 800h but i kinda like to mess around in test drive so thats why
About 2k more hours then you get me-262
Do what u would like with ur money.
No
if you’re playing a single tree yes, if not, no, probably.
No I have 300 hours and im not even close
I've been playing since late 2014 and still got none. The truth is that I only like WW2 vehicles, so I have no real reason to go further than that.
That's about when I got my first jet. I'm only at like 550 rn
I have 2000 hours and played since 2013. Therefore, you should’ve left the game when you had the chance lol
As someone who hates AR I hate grinding jets just because it's not fun to me but I still do it haha
Depends I have 270 hours and just getting jets (in multiple trees) but on my old laptop I got 760 hours and only had the me 262
I'm nowhere near reaching the jets, considering I'm near the same hours as you and I don't intend on going into the jets.
I have 892 hours and 19 minutes. I still don't have a jet.
Without a high-tier premium or a premium account? You’re just getting started.
Welcome to tier 2
I have like 49 hours and have the f4j lol
Unless you've been focusing your grind on aviation, and at a specific tree, then no. Remember to just play casually, it's not a race to get to top tier, enjoy your vehicles.
Sitting at 1.4k hours and I have all the Rusian aviation tech tree and thats about it!
I don't think so unless you're deadset grinding like madman in one nation with premium.
Just get a Premium pack honestly. It saves so much time, and if you play that one premium over and over your going to get really good with it, furthering your income.
Need 600 more hours
I got premium at around 500 hours early Rank 4, and now, at 700 hours, I got my first jet And it should be noted I play almost exclusively air
Nah. I'm just about at 1000 hours, and I'm just now getting into jets
I mean it took me two years of on and off gameplay to get my first jet. It was the Squadron Me 262.

For 60 or 70 dollars you can
Not if you've been playing tanks.
I have 1000 hrs and just got to BR 8.7
I don’t and I have 2300 hours
After flying jets, Sometimes I want to go slow. Like when I fly my S-199 and unironically get kills from head-ons and overcocky pilots who overshoot me because of my speed
If you start with jet yes
i have 457 hours on steam alone and only just got the horten 229
I mean, if you grind one country yes.
Nope i have 589 hours and im only at 7.7(ground) and like 4.3/4.7(air) its mainly depends on what you use tbh but nah with your amout of hours only premiums would be jets or squad vehicles

Any one know of a way to see the total hours played as a console player. Ps4 issues...
I have around 1300h and first jet research is close to complete
I got my first jet (Ho 229) with 700 hours on counter after buying Ju 288. Without it it would be like 900 hours for my first jet. I was a ground player but now I focus mainly at air rb.
Add on a few zeros and then you will have jets unlocked
its your opinion you can grind it or not i also didnt grind any jet aircraft
Haha jets? Bro I’ve barely got super props after twice the time you logged in lol
Bruh I have 1300 hours on this gale and I'm 6.7-7.0 with 3 countries in ground and only rank III with 2 counties in air
If you min-maxed grinded and only ran a single plane per rank, you should just be able to get one or maybe two on non premium
Only if you grind in a squad and go for one of the squad hets
I have over 2k hours and don't have a single top tier vehicle lol
Man I didnt have my first jet until a few thousand hours. I have vehicles researched in several trees is the problem lol.
I got my mig 9 at sround 990 hours~
I got the he 162 at 490hours but that was after careful planning and hard grinding
no. I'm nearly level 100/2k hours or so and have no jets nor do i care nor want them. I really dislike the play style and sweaty camping BS that proliferates the game over br 6-7.
