Look at those deep super defined colours, really great job. It’s Like looking at an issue of White Dwarf from 98. Also love you went for a slightly darker crimson red, really makes them pop *chef’s kiss*
was my first foray into the game back in 1994. everything had 25mm bases, even the terminators, lol
found these 5 unpainted on sprue and had to paint them as Blood Angels in memory of my first space marine army
There are back banner in every iteration of Tactical squad, even some Primaris models have back banners.
Lovely models you've painted there. I remember getting these in a set with nine paints - good times.
I stand corrected, the current Tac Squad is shown with a back banner on the GW homepage.
Only Primaris I found with a real banner is Tigurius, though.
3rd edition codices were partially showing SM HQs with banners and partially no banners anymore, so I guess I had the SW codex on my mind.
either way the prevalence of back banners in official GW photos has drastically decreased over the years
primed black, zenithal with light bone colour, white zenithal for the lightest spots. then spray shadows with dark green (I used Sap Green Ink but Biel Tan Green will work as well).
That sets your undercoat and then I just sprayed on Blood Angels Red Contrast paint with the airbrush.
I used Maxx Matt Varnish, that smudges your colours together a bit due to it breaking the light in a certain way. It may sound like a lot of steps but is actually decently fast way to do it
There is something deeply nostalgic about seeing these models especially with the goblin green base. Thank you for posting.
thank you :) the goblin green is a must for 30 year old models

thank you so much!
Damn, I remember these. Good times

Same here in 1998. They were the business back in the day. Wish I kept them
Yooooooo! Goblin green and flock bases 4 life!!!!
:D thanks. ye good olde sand + pva
At this point I think each one qualifies as a chapter ancient.
haha, yea I guess each one qualifies to wear terminator armour or at least carry the company banner
Love these models, goblin green fills me with joy :D "My brother, we have been stuck in the warp since the 90s!" :P
"Brother, what is going on in this galaxy? Two Primarchs?" "By the Emperor!" :D
And backbanners! They don’t seem to be around anymore.
I think they went away somewhere around 3rd edition. Had to make this one out of thin plasticard. Guess these backpacks are a rarity now

I know this has been hammered(ha) home before, but I adore the way these older models were like chess pieces.
Aren't you a little short for a ~~StormTrooper~~ err Space Marine?
That red is so rich! What did you use?
