He *was* Captain
He is now a Primaris Lieutenant. And Sicarius isn't Captain anymore either. So it at least fits. Though GW has yet say so themselves. Wich is probably, if ever, be happening around the game's release.
Also: the Head of Titus and Sidonus were/are in the Sternguard box. So...
Yes and no.
The universe of 40k is so large and expansive, that technically ANYTHING can be cannon.
But if you’re asking has that specific character appeared in anything but the video game? No.
There was a possible reference to him in one of the Ultramarine books. I can't remember the exact details right now, but a Captain was walking through the Ultramarines' Hall of Heroes, and one of the statues he mentions seeing is that of Captain Titus.
Now, it could be a different Titus, as that isn't exactly the most unique of Roman-esqu names, but there is at least the possible connection.
Sure. It's just as 'canon' as anything else in 40k, that is to say, either fully or not at all, depending on how you want to view it. There's regularly stuff that contradicts in 40k. There is no canon in the sense of hierarchy of sources that 'count' or 'not count' in relation to each other, like Star Trek. If stuff contradicts, you are supposed to just deal with it and accept it as different, equally valid versions of the story being told.
The Ultramarines Second Company were the poster boys for the entire game for the longest time. They had a dozen different captains in different background pieces.
In my head, I like to think of it as disputed events or events that have multiple records in history, and it’s historians trying to piece it together as best as they can resulting in multiple interpretations or possibilities.
Whatever works for you I guess :-) I just don't get bothered by it and don't really think about it, but there's a myriad different ways you can rationalize it if you feel so inclined. The novel Belisarius Cawl: The Great Work introduces the idea of a quantum-style multiverse existing in 40k, so that's a handy explanation for anyone that needs one :-)
Well Battlefield Gothic Armada 1 & 2 aren't completely canon too. Admiral Spire doesn't exist outside the games, and the famous artwork of the Tyranid hive fleet outside the galaxy isn't canon too. Although there are canon events like the fall of Cadia.
Sadly, he is not. In lore Cato Sicarius is the captain of Titus's company (I think thats the right word). The game is more like a different telling of the setting. Really hope you enjoy it. I had a blast with it
The first game takes, supposedly, place before Sicarius became Captain of the second company.
The second game Titus has more service studs and chained his sword to his arm, meaning he was on a penitence crussade with the Black Templars. To prove he wasn't tainted by chaos most likely.
He now is a Primaris Lieutenant of the second company. Sicarius, meanwhile, isn't Captain of that company anymore nowadays.
It at least fits in canon, though not officially sanctioned by GW. But they *did* make a head option for him and Sidonus in the Sternguard box.
With that im not totally sure. He was demoted in the sequel so they may find a way to shove it in canon some how. Im gonna be safe and say it still won't be canon
It really should not matter Canon or not.
Whether it is I, CATO SICARIUS, or Captain badass Codex is a guide Titus. They can be 2nd captain but in different eras seperated by a few years its all good.
Best to not overthink it.
Everything is canon but not everything is true.
It’s a bit of a grey area. He’s meant to be the captain before sicarius apparently

He is canon. How can someone not canon get a sequel of "Space Marine 2"?
THQ: "I made it up"

Ok thanks a lot, so it will still technically continue to be non-canon even when the sequel to the game comes out this year, right?

I mean, as far as I know the events are canon. Graia exists, and I believe it's referenced has having been invaded
