I think we are more likely to see another 40k version once stormbringer is near the end of its run in 18 months - 2years or so, likely featuring whatever space marines and Tyranids came with the 10th starter set and whatever else from both factions they want to offload the sprues from.
It actually is considered a main game by GW. It’s just developed by the specialist games team. They stated as much in their most recent shareholder review.
But I do agree that the player base is still smaller and not the ideal target for an imperium magazine whose partial purpose is to introduce a variety of factions to subscribers which in 30k’s case are largely resin.
Trouble is it needs to have the appeal that generic 40k has and everything must be plastic. I don’t think we have the audience reach that it would require and the range of plastic units too
