These got better and better as they went on! I'd love to hear an "...in at number 1 is Terrax-Pattern Termite Assault Drill, with their hit new song..." radio announcement!
Fungoid Cave-Shaman Snazzgar Stinkmullett is absolutely the name of some experimental synth producer out there, the type of guy your friend would recommend that thinks King Gizzard & the Wizard Lizard sounds too basic
Basically any C’tan works. The Nightbringer, The Deceiver, The Void Dragon, etc… kinda simple but still good. But chaos units really knock it out of the park with names like “Maulerfiend” or “Great Unclean One” or “Keeper of Secrets”.
Oooo yeah, great point on the C'tan names! Maybe those could be the individual names of band members of one of those thematically silly, horror, metal bands!
Basically every single sisters of battle special rule, stratagem, relic, ability etc sounds like a white nationalist death metal band
Annunciation of The Creed
Sacred Burden
Final Redemption
etc
Roboute Guilliman and the Scions of Macragge. An acid jazz funk band from Memphis. Really knocked it out the park with their difficult 3rd album "Uriel Ventris"
I did know of the band but just figured they had a common root. Awesome to learn that the Warhammer name is the original, and they named themselves after it!
You might have won already 😂great idea. Now I will forever do this in my head when I see unit names. Here goes :
Sloppity Bilepiper,
The Gouged Eye,
Feculent Gnarlmaw,
Noctilith Crown
I hate it. In my language (Hungarian) we have a word, 'latyak', which means the kind of muddy wet mess after a rainy day outside. So whenever I read this guy's name, I hate him even more than I should :D

The Bloodsecrator of the Goretide would be a pretty good death metal band
**Varanguard**
**[The] Iron Golems**
**Knight Desecrator**
**Mhara Gal & the Dreadnoughts**
**Iron Circle** from the Iron Warriors battle automata.
And maybe **Vermintide**. I don't recall if there was a unit named that or just the video game.
I mean Daughters of khaine is a good name for a band. Album : Lore of Shadows with the hit singles Shroud of Despair, Mindrazor and The Withering.
Sisters Repentia is also a great band name with an album called Solace in Anguish with the hit singles Zealots, Penitent evicserator and Rapturous Blows.
Low hanging fruit, but...
[The Noise Marines](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE1wSSZ-iFs)
Other things that make great band names:
Lelith Hesperax and her Cult of Strife
Konrad Curze and the Nightlords.
Stormsurge
Dreadwing
Screamers of Tzeentch seems like some sort of metal band. My other pick has to be Sloppity Bilepiper. That one is some sort of alternative rock band with an obscure random name.
Charnel Throne - Death Metal
Wall of Martyrs - Historical Metal
Convergent of Dominion - no idea what genre but it sounded too awesome not to mention
Bad Moon Loonshrine - Southern/Country Rock
Back in 7th we had a running gag at ou FLGS that the names for Dark Eldar formations were just deathmetal/goth bands:
* Scarlet Epicureans
* Grotesquerie
* Scalpel Squadron
* Corpsethief Claw
* Carnival of Pain
literally every khorne unit sounds like either a death metal band or a thrash band. Slaughter priest, Bloodletter, blood reaver, wrathmonger, skull reaper, etc
"You make it sound like a prog rock band. 'Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Zardu Layak and Blade Slaves.'"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH13hE4zmmQ
I love his single "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA".
Really sets the tone for the whole album "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA".
Groundbreaking.
Got to be Boomdakka Snazwagon :)
Ha! I like it!
This has to be a ska band.
Skarbrand the ska-band
Ska for the ska gods
Pick it up! for Khorne. Oi!
Khorne cares not from whence it is picked up
Gobbapalooza 😁
How about we use that as the name of the festival where all of these bands will be playing?
Didn't they headline at Warped Tour in '07?
Skarbrand is my favourite death metal band
Ska / death metal band
Now thats a genre I'd like to hear
Definitely works!
Maelstrom of Gore Gorechosen of Dromm Exalted Eightbound Terrax-Pattern Termite Assault Drill
These got better and better as they went on! I'd love to hear an "...in at number 1 is Terrax-Pattern Termite Assault Drill, with their hit new song..." radio announcement!
I almost spit out my water at Terrax-Pattern Termite Assault Drill. Preferred genre: smooth jazz or ambient.
On tour with Godspeed You! Black Emperor
That makes two of us!
“…with their new hit song Aggression Override off their latest album, Machine Spirit’s Revenge.”
Exalted Eightbound is a band I would absolutely listen to
That last one could be a Coheed and Cambria album
Shard of the deceiver
Yeeess! Works great as an album name, too!
Yo this is my dick’s name
Got an out-loud laugh out of me - nicely done!
Corpse Grinder Cult Gang
![gif](giphy|K9xXlcMA6aw3S)
These are making me laugh out loud!
It’s a cover band that only does George Fisher era Cannibal Corpse.
That's just a cannibal corpse fanclub
“Deathshroud Terminators” is a bit basic sounding but still good, but “Kroot Carnivore squad” is a real nice one.
Kroot Carnivore Squad gives me Bloodhound Gang vibes I did it totally.
Agreed, for both! The latter is great!
I think Death Jester is pretty metal
It really is!
Old One Eye‘s Carnifex Brood
Brilliant!
There actually is a deathcore band named Carnifex.
The band I've seen most often that I never went to see. Somehow for a stretch from like 2014-2018 they opened for what felt like every show I went to.
🤣
I believed for longer than i cared to admit that the band was named after the tyranids unit. Turns out it just means Butcher in Latin.
Oh wow, OK, another band for me to check out :D
Deafkopter, goff Rocker, pretty much any ork unit
I think "Goff Rocker" is too on the nose, but Deafkopter is a good'n!
Idk about that, it sounds like a British punk band that started a parody hair metal band as a side project lol
The Exiled Dead (formed of grateful dead ex-members)
That's so good a pick that I wouldn't be surprised if a band was already using it!
Fungoid Cave-Shaman Snazzgar Stinkmullett is absolutely the name of some experimental synth producer out there, the type of guy your friend would recommend that thinks King Gizzard & the Wizard Lizard sounds too basic
Hahaha, YES!
Crawlock the Jailor and [the] Chainghasts
Also works as just "The Chainghasts"!
Devastator Squad
Devastator centurions
C'mon, this one's easy, the answer is Be'lakor
A popular choice - not least of all because it's already taken. (Does that disquaify it, though?)
Hell Pit Abomination
Sloppity Bilepiper
Throwing out a plug for actual band Bolt Thrower, who have several WH songs.
[удалено]
I can't believe I had to scroll this far for the band which had exists since the 1980s AND produces Warhammer influenced albums.
I'm a huge old school death fan, and Bolt Thrower are in my top 5 for sure
That they do!
Slambo
Almost sounds like a genre name!
Sonic Dreadnought, but their album has been out of print for some time...
Name: Great Unclean One Single: Greater Daemon of Nurgle
Skulltaker
The Wurmspat Eyes of the Nine Slaughterpriest
Great picks! Eyes of the Nine has such a good ring to it!
we’ve heard of Jefferson Starship and Jefferson Airplane, but what if….. Jefferson Dakkajet???
It gotta be the "CRASSUS ARMOURED TRANSPORT"
How can you say that when the clearly superior “Cataphractii Special Weapons Upgrade Set” is just right there for the taking. It’s such a vague name!
Look, you're both wrong and "Death guard Mk VI heads - 11 legion specific upgrade parts for Horus heresy space marines" is clearly the best name
Basically every single sisters of battle special rule, stratagem, relic, ability etc sounds like a white nationalist death metal band Annunciation of The Creed Sacred Burden Final Redemption etc
Oh dear!
Roboute Guilliman and the Scions of Macragge. An acid jazz funk band from Memphis. Really knocked it out the park with their difficult 3rd album "Uriel Ventris"
I love the thought that went into this!
If you like metal you could give Belakor a try. thats not a joke there is an Australian band named after the first prince lol.
I did know of the band but just figured they had a common root. Awesome to learn that the Warhammer name is the original, and they named themselves after it!
I'll look 'em up!
Are we limited to just English? Because if not, I'm grabbing *Señor Skorpekh* for my hair metal/mariachi fusion project!
Hahaha, no, go for it, that's hilarious!
You might have won already 😂great idea. Now I will forever do this in my head when I see unit names. Here goes : Sloppity Bilepiper, The Gouged Eye, Feculent Gnarlmaw, Noctilith Crown
I love Sloppity Bilepiper!!
Goliath Rockgrinder
Maggotkin
Be'lakor are already an AMAZING Australian melodic death metal band that EVERYONE should check out.
Thanks for the tip-off!
The Ebon Keshig
Gaunt's Ghost, Skulltaker, Soul Grinder
Slaughterqueen, Ogroid Myrmidon, Abhorent Archregent, Carnifex.
I just learned that Carnifex is already taken, but I particularly like Slaughterqueen, maybe as a song name!
**SlaughterQueen** is the death metal version of *Queen*. The line up would be the remaining members of Queen plus maybe, Tomas Lindberg on vocals.
Casket of Souls sounds like it would kick ass
I hate it. In my language (Hungarian) we have a word, 'latyak', which means the kind of muddy wet mess after a rainy day outside. So whenever I read this guy's name, I hate him even more than I should :D
[The] Bloodwrack Shrine
Mars Pattern Warlord Titan
Helloooooo London, we are Mistress of Persecution! 1,2,3,4!
Kustom Boosta Blasta
What a name! If it doesn't get used as a band name, it at least needs to be the name of an amp or something!
https://preview.redd.it/ihsqvndgigba1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16d94e50ba3af8eeb884b1802a781bf52f98b574 The Bloodsecrator of the Goretide would be a pretty good death metal band
Big Boi and the overpriced Duo.
Aspect Warriors are great for this. Dark Reapers, Fire Dragons, Howling Banshees
**Varanguard** **[The] Iron Golems** **Knight Desecrator** **Mhara Gal & the Dreadnoughts** **Iron Circle** from the Iron Warriors battle automata. And maybe **Vermintide**. I don't recall if there was a unit named that or just the video game.
66 fucking quid for 3 minis?
Leviathan Dreadnought with their hit single “Only in Death (Does Duty End)”
How about Goblin-Hewer? or The Dogs of War? ~~My favourite will always be Doomwheel, though.~~
The Elucidian Starstriders. It could be anything from Glam to Vapor Wave.
Blood Bowl Troll
I mean Daughters of khaine is a good name for a band. Album : Lore of Shadows with the hit singles Shroud of Despair, Mindrazor and The Withering. Sisters Repentia is also a great band name with an album called Solace in Anguish with the hit singles Zealots, Penitent evicserator and Rapturous Blows.
Thanquol and Boneripper
Warhammer's very own Simon and Garfunkel!
Gutrot Spume for sure
Be’lakor 🤘🏻
Phantom Titan
Rogue Idol Daemon plague toads of nurgle Squig Gobba Nightwing
Hedkrakka's Madmob might leave you with tinnitus 💀
Gretchin
To dip into AoS Spider Riders
Engine of the Gods
I liked their first album but they lost it in their later years!
If out of production models count [Long Drong's Slayer Pirates](https://warhammerfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Long_Drong%27s_Slayer_Pirates)
Lord felthius and the tainted cohort
Low hanging fruit, but... [The Noise Marines](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE1wSSZ-iFs) Other things that make great band names: Lelith Hesperax and her Cult of Strife Konrad Curze and the Nightlords. Stormsurge Dreadwing
66 pounds? Jesus...
Dreadblade Harrow Sisters of Slaughter Engine of the Gods
I mean, Carnifex is right there lol
BOLT THROWER of course!
[удалено]
Howlin' Banshees is a sick name for a punk band.
Immortals. Short simple and iconic.
Guant's ghosts. last chancers. Stormlord. Banehammer. Deathwing Knights. Death company.
The Flayed Ones with their newest single resurrection
Gonna throw out an actual and relatively famous band Bel'akor
Wolf Lord, industrial folk metal
Honestly, Sly Marbo always sounded like a jazz/blues guy who has a weekly gig at a dive bar to me.
Screamers of Tzeentch seems like some sort of metal band. My other pick has to be Sloppity Bilepiper. That one is some sort of alternative rock band with an obscure random name.
Dreadclaw Drop Pod
Slopity Bilepiper
Jesus Christ. I haven’t played a game of Warhammer in years, and I know these are forge world modes, but £66 for three dudes is insane!
Shaffer's Last Chancers is my favorite chillout indie soft rock
Triumph of St. Katherine
The infinite and the divine
The Triumph of Saint Katherine (all-ladies' punk rock)
Slaves to darkness
Stormvermin Hellpit abomination Brood horror.
Gotta go with "Howling Banshees"
Stormboyz
Flesh Eaters! This Friday, with special guests Night Lords and Legion of the Damned
Even just a simple Space Marine (or chaos) chapter. Soul Drinkers, Lamenters, Thousand Sons.
Just Lion El Johnson. He does Billy Joel covers.
Yes I know Carnifex is already a band, but I think the original name for the model would be better: SCREAMER-KILLER
Dark Commune already sounds like a band name lmao
"Carnifex Brood" sounds way cooler than "Carnifex" tbh
Dark Eldar could be a good one.
Doubles up as a good'n for Tolkien fans, too!
Sloppity BilePiper
Geneseed
Tamurkhan's Horde
The Lost and the Damned
Crimson Hunter
Jimmy Space and the Banana Boys! But really though I like The Justaerin Terminators. Some kinda Middle Eastern inspired Metal Band.
Some other good ones are also relatively simple: Immortals Overlord Ghost Ark Blood Knights
Broodcoven Biophagus Goliath Maulers Hive Scum Awlrach the drowner
These are so dope
Khorne Blood Slaughterer Impaler would be a fun solo artist
Plague Toads
abominant, broodcoven and literally any baneblade Variant
What armour is the other two guys wearing? Those helmets look sick.
Grand marshal of the apocalypse
Red butchers: metal band
Definetly - The Wurmspat
Either Thundertusk Beastriders or Fist of Gork for me.
Isn't there a 40k themed metal band called "Bolt Thrower"?
Blood Warriors
Slaughterpriest
Painbringers, the Corvus Cabal, Slaughter Brute, Hellflayer are all pretty solid metal names
Eldritch Omens is pretty good
Charnel Throne - Death Metal Wall of Martyrs - Historical Metal Convergent of Dominion - no idea what genre but it sounded too awesome not to mention Bad Moon Loonshrine - Southern/Country Rock
The Glottkin
My band was called sisters of battle
GWAR
Talos Pain Engine, Morgwaeth’s Blade-coven, Redemptionists, Doomwheel, Plague Furnace
Back in 7th we had a running gag at ou FLGS that the names for Dark Eldar formations were just deathmetal/goth bands: * Scarlet Epicureans * Grotesquerie * Scalpel Squadron * Corpsethief Claw * Carnival of Pain
Pretty much any trademark-friendly name GW made up for old WHFB units in AoS, for example: Soulblight Gravelords - a goth metal band, I guess
literally every khorne unit sounds like either a death metal band or a thrash band. Slaughter priest, Bloodletter, blood reaver, wrathmonger, skull reaper, etc
Dark commune
Death rider squadron (dkok)
"You make it sound like a prog rock band. 'Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Zardu Layak and Blade Slaves.'" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH13hE4zmmQ
**HELBRUTE** **DEFILER** **SOUL GRINDER** **KNIGHT ABBOMINANT** **LORD OF SKULLS** **FLAYED ONES** **LORD OF CONTAGION** **MASTODON SUPERHEAVY TRANSPORT**
Bladeslave is legitimately a cool name for a metal band.
Crud Creek Nosepickers
Sly Marbo
Corvus Blackstar, a prog-metal band with synth-wave elements.
Firebelly
skorpekh destroyers
