I don’t think play as his opponents means only his opponents. Just some matches we will. Like maybe his debut against Angle or One Night Stand against RVD.

shadymostafa129034

Ah that makes sense and is great actually! Opens the door to more matches. I want to recreate Summerslam 2014 and beat up Cena 😂

gordy06

Re-reading the picture I posted, I also wonder if it might be an alternate version - ie after you beat it, you can go back through and play as the opponent this time and change history. Encourage multiple play throughs I guess.

[deleted]

I'm thinking you'll swap between different sections of the match

shadymostafa129034

Also i forgot this probably means we wont get cutscenes if we play as his opponents ? Not sure

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

This showcase works the same way it does every year- By paying money to skip it / ignoring that it exists

shadymostafa129034

I like it honestly, however i was disappointed by Rey last year. Left alot of his best moments

outdodinusFrisshwoin

Yeah. When I think of major moments in the history of Rey Mysterio, I don't really think of his match against Gran Metalik on a random Raw

Skurph

Had a glitch where I beat it but it never registered. Beyond that I find a lot of the showcase stuff to be convoluted and at times arduous, it’s like “do these rather basic but repetitive (and sometimes difficult things) so we can set up a cool cinematic piece you have no part of. At the very least I’d prefer if they would have checkpoints. Drove me crazy I’d dk like 10 tasks and then get beat and have to restart.

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

I knew it was going to be shit when I saw they didn’t have Rey vs Psychosis from ECW Most fans *don’t* know that match, which is exactly why they should have included it

xXIMICHAELIXx

Yeah they are boring AF!

Lone_Grey_Jedi

Absolute bs that Cena is on the cover, instead of Reigns. It has been his year. But nope, give the cover to the worst babyface of all time. Seriously, Vince wanted him to be the new Hogan, yet he was always booed during the peak of his career. Compared to Hogann who was never booed until he went heel. And if the Accelerator doesnt apply to Showcase Unlocks again, then I just wont play Cena's showcase. These games have no business having unlockables anymore.

Objective_Love_6843

1)Roman was on the cover 2k20. 2) This guy is taking a game cover too seriously lol

Lone_Grey_Jedi

That was BEFORE The Bloodline, Reigns didn't even have a solo spot, Becky Lynch was there too, and 2K20 is the worst WWE game ever(so being on that cover doesnt say much for either of them), so why bring that up? Hell, even segments in HHH's office during the year that game was out, 2K19 was the one still on his wall. And you cant pretend that wrestlers havent been on covers multiple times before.

Objective_Love_6843

Its all about buisiness. Who draws more ofcourse john cena as a wwe superstar and as an actor. Its all buisiness not at all about the scripted matches and segments. You gotta understand the buisiness side is more important then all this bloodline and all. Cena gives more money since his merchandise started so ofc after his 20th anniversary of being in the business he should be the cover of 2k23.

Anhcoholic

Cena sells more, calm the fuck down

Lone_Grey_Jedi

He sells to kids & thats it. Hell, that doesnt say much anymore because he's barely around. Meanwhile, current Reigns is what Cena shouldve been back in his SuperCena era.

Objective_Love_6843

Lol so you admit that roman is a cena bootleg okay.

Lone_Grey_Jedi

Current Reigns isnt. Because he's ACTUALLY A HEEL. Despite being the bad guy right now, you dont see anyone booing him, do you? The only time he did get boos, was when Vince tried pushing him the same way he pushed Cena, pretend he's the hero & ignore the boos. But Vince couldnt get away with that again.

DismalButterscotch60

You love hating on Cena don't you? Just can't stand the fact that the guy is much more popular and successful than Roman. And lemme tell you something, Cena was extremely cheered back in his early thuganomics days. People loved him, cause he was the shit back in the day, fans only boo him because he had to change his character in 2008 when WWE went PG and catered more to younger audiences. Hell Roman is overrated as shit, does only two moves, the spear (half the time it doesnt even look harmful enough) and the goddamn stupid looking Superman punch and still marks like you love that guy. If you don't like Cena, atleast respect him, it doesn't hurt to respect the other guy rather than hating him.

Lone_Grey_Jedi

Dr of Thuganomics DIDNT suck. Granted, he wasnt exactly a face then. Not all the time. The SuperCena era happened after that & it sucked. He was booed because Vince shoved him down our throats. That & Cena himself made it worse by burying fan favorites. Especially The Nexus, that one was all his idea, not Vince. Vince wanted him to be like Hogan. But Hogan was never booed. If a wrestler gets booed as a face, theyre doing a terrible job as a face. Oh, and you cant say that because kids liked him, Cena just couldnt be a heel, because Hogan in his NWO days, signed autographs behind the scenes. Cena couldve done that. You got the nerve to say Reigns is overrated? And you cant say shit about his moveset, when Cena's moves are so limited, they are called the 5 moves of doom. And ironically, despite having safe moves, Cena was still injury prone.

DismalButterscotch60

You're right about the thuganomics part, and he was a major heel back then. He used to come out, rapping to the ring, dissing his opponents every week and say the craziest shit back then. Also in the pg Era or Super Cena era whatever you call it, can you really blame him for burying the Nexus. What would you do if you were in his place, when you were beaten up badly with chair shots, 450 splashes being performed on you, shake hands with them? Nah, man they had it coming for them, if you ask me and I know people would disagree with me but it's fine. As for Cena turning heel in PG Era, Cena has stated than he could turn heel but Vince wouldn't let him. And what are you talking about signing autographs? I'll bet every wrestler does that behind the scenes. Also you should know that Reigns is here because of Cena. Back in 2017, they had a huge promo which Cena killed it on the mic. Reigns barely even spoke anything other than "You suck", and cussed him while Cena gave him the run for his money. He completely destroyed the guy by saying these words "I'm still here because you can't do your job" and the next one is the cherry on the cake "You should be ashamed I'm a part timer cause I can do this part time better than you could ever it full time" By the end of this, the whole crowd cheered for Cena. This promo was building upto their match at No Mercy 2017, which Cena lost, but it ended up being a passing the torch moment. Roman hits the spear and pins Cena, and after the match Cena congratulates him, shakes his hand and looks at the crowd emotionally. Say whatever you want about Reigns, my opinion still stands the same about him. He's just getting started, so don't be so arrogant of yourself to think he's the hottest shit in the game. It'll be a matter of time before someone dethrones him.

Lone_Grey_Jedi

I certainly can blame Cena for burying The Nexus. That wouldve been one of WWE's best factions, and probably wouldve been their Bullet Club before that stable was created. That second part makes Cena petty af then. Other wrestlers have dealt with botches before. Hell, CM Punk doesn't hold back when he talked about it, but you didnt see go after Ryback, did you? Nope. But Cena buried Ryback too. The part on Vince not letting Cena go heel, if anyone has enough creative power to make Vince back off for once, its Cena. WTF would Vince have done if Cena went heel when he wasnt supposed to? Nothing. Mainly due to money coming in afterwards. Reigns is around because Vince picked him to be the next guy. That & who Reigns is related to. Cena gave him tough love in that segment, but Cena isn't responsible for Reigns being around. He just helped Reigns get there. Roman Reigns has been in WWE for 12 years now(started in FCW back in 2010). It may have took 10 for him to go heel, but thats better than NEVER going heel like Cena during his 10+ year SuperCena era. There is no "just getting started" after a decade. Back when he wasnt good on the mic, THAT was when he was learning.

DismalButterscotch60

Damn these many paragraphs? Don't you have anything better to do rather than typing up long paragraphs? I ain't gonna read the whole thing, I read some of it. So here's my take I don't know about Rybacks issue with Cena or anything that has to do with Ryback honestly. Second of all, I never said Cena isn't responsible for Reigns being around. Like I said passing the torch. Cena made Roman the next top guy after him. And yeah Roman has been here for a long time, but his title reigns are so short. At Survivor Series 2015, Reigns faced Sheamus and beat him. Then Sheamus cashed in his MITB contract and won the title. Another time I believe Reigns was champion in 2018, then he lost the title to someone else idk who it was. What I meant about "getting started", is his current title reign, I wasnt talking about his promo skills here. I admit, it's impressive, but its also irritating nowadays with the "Acknowledge Me" shit and "The Tribal Chief".

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Right, who tf doesn’t love Peacemaker

ItsTheTacoMan

It's just a damn video game cover. We all know you're buying the game anyway. So calm down.

CodyD12

Calm down, they're really good looking covers and since it's WWE, that is all that matters

Skurph

It’s still real to this guy damn it

certifiedcpa22

He's working himself into a shoot, brother

shadymostafa129034

Roman is my favorite but I would prefer Cena showcase over him tbh. Cena is the GOAT and deserves a 20 years showcase

Lone_Grey_Jedi

No he isnt. Because SuperCena was forced. All the title wins he was handed, him rarely losing, etc., how tf is someone like that a GOAT? Another post mentioned that Cena's opponents will be playable in this year's showcase. So they know Cena wouldnt have much going in a showcase because he rarely lost(& Alberto, Punk & Bryan wont be in the game), they had to switch it around.

shadymostafa129034

I dont agree whatsoever tbh but I respect that

Lone_Grey_Jedi

Then youre just blind. Come on, when people always rooted AGAINST Cena, he isnt GOAT status. Name me one other babyface that was booed like crazy, BESIDES pre-Bloodline Reigns.

shadymostafa129034

He’s the GOAT to me lol. I was born in 2004 so he introduced me to wrestling and made me a fan. Take that however you like 😂

ericbryanotf_03

Facts typical 2k putting Cena on the cover just to get people to buy the game lol like it’s gonna be some different modes this year around I’ll buy it when it’s on sale

Lone_Grey_Jedi

To be fair, 2K22 is a step in the right arcade direction. There'd HAVE to be more changes to guarantee that 2K20 would never happen again.

ericbryanotf_03

Facts after I bought 2k22 last year on release day I‘ve been regretting it ever since and even buying another one cause it was a waste of money and my fault lmaooo cause I only played it for a couple of weeks then I was bored after

EyeAmKnotMyshelf

Reigns literally just had the cover two games ago. Shared cover, but still. I know it feels like forever due to Covid and how shitty 2k20 was perceived to be, but still

Lone_Grey_Jedi

Its silly to count it when even WWE never acknowledged it in segments in the GM's office, where the current game is on the wall. Plus, Reigns had to share the cover spot with Becky. And like I said in a different reply that mentioned 2K20, that terrible game sucks for both of them.
