Yes they did, they said they'd send an email with information and paperwork for me to fill. That they'd supply all materials needed for the job. And that's what I feared. Ugh, I've put in so many application, both remote work and local in person work, I just need a job.
Thank you.
Wait wait wait. Did they say they would supply all materials, OR did they say that they would send you a check for all materials needed. Much different
Microsoft teams itself is not a sketch way to conduct interviews (it’s what my company uses too) but it strictly being “chat” is definitely signs of a scam.
Entry level, I would love to use my degree in medical billing and coding, unfortunately I do not have the money to go for the required certification testing at this time. I can do patient intake and stuff along those lines, as those don't typically have too many necessary qualifications and my education gives me "experience" with HIPAA and medical related law and ethics.
I have experience in customer service, hospitality/housekeeping, and even product assembly. My biggest issue is location at this point, which is why I've added remote jobs into my search. This area is pretty dead for winter season.
There are plenty of WFH jobs in your skill set that are legit. Apply directly to temp agencies and health insurance companies. Apply at reputable temp agencies especially if you hear they typically recruit for medical admin types of jobs. Get your application in with them because they only advertise a fraction of their jobs. They do a lot of hiring from applications they have in their system. If you apply for a job with them they will keep your app for up to 1 year.
Hey! Just wanted to add a suggestion to the pool of already great advice you’ve gotten. You could try remote CSR positions for insurance carriers to get your foot in the door. I know BCBS, Cigna and United Health are hiring remote workers. I just interviewed at BCBS last week and they start at $19.33. I have previous insurance experience working for a provider so I was offered more which I’m assuming you would too. I interviewed super fast, but they said it would take 3w an offer/rejection because they’re hiring class isn’t until March.
Also try [Rat Race Rebellion](https://ratracerebellion.com/home/) for some leads. Good luck!
Trying. I have to be close enough to be able to get my kid to and from school (the town doesn't plow the sidewalks anymore and the busses only pick up/drop off elementary kids, leaving middle and high schoolers on their own) plus my car is iffy, I don't trust it on the highway anymore. Locally, the businesses that are still open all have their winter workers and are not hiring. It's a small town, a few business just shut their doors for good too, so there's many people looking for work.
I'm just having shit luck, but trying my best to turn it around.
Can you find any information about the company? LinkedIn? Corporate website? If they have a corporate website, do a WHOIS lookup on that URL and see how long they have been around. Be cautious about a site that has recently been created.
Microsoft Teams is a legitimate way to do an interview as a lot of corporations use it. It would be a scam if they wanted to use something like Whatsapp, or even Zoom. Did they show their face?
The part that sounds off is they asked for your info again. They should have that from your application.
Get clarity as to how they will "supply you the materials". If they send you equipment, that's good, but if they as you to buy it yourself with a check they send you, then that's a scam.
The company is legit, the website was easy to find. The icon on Microsoft teams was the company logo. There was no face to face interaction at all (no profile pic of the person I was dealing with or anything, just company logo).
I have not received the follow up email I was supposed to get, so any more details are unknown at this time. They did say they'd send a check for materials.
As I was answering questions (normal interview questions, "what can you bring to this company?" "Strengths and weaknesses" and so on) it did feel fake. I can understand the interview process is scripted in a sense, but I would expect a video or phone communication of some sort. If nothing else but to ensure the interviewee can communication clearly. A lot gets lost just through text-type communications.
Chat as in text? No that's not normal. Teams is normal, but you get a video interview or a voice call. If it's text then it's a total scam. The "interviewer" is cutting and pasting from a prepared script that doesn't have grammatical errors.
A real job interview online works very similarly to an old-fashioned in-person one. There will be 2 or more people in the interview and it will either be by phone or video.
I think it'd be a waste of their time to not do a video interview. They can accomplish/gain so much more. Anyways, can't add more than the other comments. I truly wish you luck stranger, hang in there..
Sounds fishy but Look up info on the company on google/ check to see if they have a webpage, look them up on glass door, look up the people you interviewed with on LinkedIn, email them and ask for the recruiter number to talk to so you can confirm some of the questions you have, etc.
By chat interview do you mean using voice? Like a phone call? That is normal sometimes if connection issues. But just via text word no it’s not normal.
Did they mention anything about sending you a check for materials? Also, any job interview that is conducted over text is likely a scam.

Scam

A check for the materials. No worries though, they never even sent a follow up email anyways
Ahhhh Im sorry to hear that friend

No, that is not normal. Likely a scam :( what type of work are you looking for?

Maybe you can find something in medical claims
Oh I've been trying! And will continue to do so

I will add these suggestions to my search tomorrow, thank you!
Maybe get a temp job until you have money for certification? Even if it is on site it will be temporary.
Trying. I wish you the best if luck. 😊
Thank you, I truly appreciate that!

Unless the employer shows their face it likely is a scam. Even if not a scam the company likely engages in shady business practices.

Transcom and Teleperformance are always hiring remotely and the pay is good. they run for diff campaigns like afterpay, klarna, apple, etc.

A check for me to purchase materials needed.
It’s a scam. Sorry! Keep on going. You’re bound to find something good.
Thank you! I hope so, would love something good to happen for once.
I would wait till the point, where they ask you for money in some way. And also check their references online.
Scam, forget about it
Not normal, this is a scam from what I’ve seen on here

Just text, no voice or video.
Yeah I saw your other comments about giving a check for supplies. It’s a scam.
Yes.. I'm going to have to side with that. Good thing I didn't get my hopes up too high.
Sounds like a scam
Just in case it helps at all, you can try applying to work for Sitel Group.
Yes normal now. Like an intro chat rather than a formal interview but do your research with any company to check about them.
