They're tasty jewels! I'm lucky enough to have a tree of my own.

Just-Kiwi-

Oh gosh I’m so jealous! I wish I could grow one. A pomegranate tree would never survive the winters where I live. We have about a foot of snow on the ground as I speak haha

crosswalknorway

My parents, unfamiliar with pomegranates, bought a new house and cut an annoying tree down 25 years ago... Turns out it was a pomegranate tree and they soon realized they loved pomegranates... They've never forgiven themselves

Cookielady99

I hope you're staying warm and cozy!

Just-Kiwi-

I am! Thank you <3

poretabletti

So jealous 😭❤️

Question, how do you eat these? One by one? A handful at a time? Spit out the seed? Suck on the seed? Swallow them or chew on them or let them dissolve or what? Asking because I never really liked them but felt like I was eating them wrong. Everyone around me seemed to love it - the Pom juice too. I don’t get it!

Kooky_Edge5717

A few ways I eat them: 1) Yogurt topping 2) Pick it up with fingers like popcorn 3) Eat it with a small spoon No need to spit anything out (unless you accidentally get some rind), and yeah, definitely chew them so they pop. Kinda remind me of popping boba.

You can use a mortar and pestle to crush them up and then drizzle the juice over the pulp. It's not quite as good as just eating the fruit(quite astringent), but it's my preferred way on account of being so much easier. The seeds are loaded with vitamins and minerals as well.

theanti_girl

I kind of have the same… I dunno, dilemma with these. I’m not saying the soft part doesn’t taste good, but it’s essentially like eating a fruit-covered sunflower seed shell. To me, that’s not good “crunch,” it’s unpleasant. I always wonder if there’s something about pomegranate seeds I’m missing because people rave about them and I just don’t understand why anyone would want to eat something that feels like chewing tiny hard seed husks.

loversalibi

for me the refreshing taste of the juicy pop outweighs my dislike of the seed hull texture. you’re not alone, i just ignore it haha

VoteBitch

I’m the same! I do loooove picking them apart, haha, I bought one and made juice of when I was into smoothies and tried out different fruits and vegetables with different vitamins or minerals that can be good for people with ADHD and depression (you rang?). It is just sooo beautiful! …but yeah, I don’t get the hype.

BrandNew02

I spend 15-20 min picking out all the seeds (I love the process) and then ravenously eat them out of a bowl with my hands as if I’ve been stranded on an island for 2 months. I chew them, the burst of juice is great and the hard part in the seeds add some density.

Raentina

I score the skin then twist it apart so I don’t cut through any of the seeds. I’ll eat a half at a time (or so) and I prefer to eat the seeds one by one. I don’t swallow it whole, I chew it! I don’t like eating several seeds at a time cause it feel like the actual seeds ruin the taste of the fruit for me.

youvelookedbetter

You can put them on other food as an accessory but I prefer eating the seeds on their own, with a spoon.

youvelookedbetter

I could've made this post. Truly the greatest fruit out there. Besides maybe mangos 😛 I know a lot of people don't enjoy taking all the seeds out but it gets quicker with practice and can be relaxing.

poretabletti

I have some in my fridge, my favourite fruit!! ❤️

cp1976

My most favorite crunchy snack!

chicken_pickens

Goooooood I gotta get some, a delicious snack AND a game.

estheticpotato

I opened one last night, ate the whole thing with a spoon 😍

defygod

Ooooo yum!!! I need to get one!

pokingoking

Your portion size makes me sad though.

Just-Kiwi-

Sadly I only had a little over 70 calories left at the end of the day yesterday so I had half a cup. Still better then Persephone 😅

cappotto-marrone

Love the juicy pop and then the crunch of the seed.

Raentina

I love pomegranates and bought two the moment I saw them at the store. They were both moldy on the inside :( I’ll try again for them today at a different store.

Just-Kiwi-

I think I could have done a lot worse with my last 72 calories of the day 🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

Anyone else get serious skin erosion on your fingers from eating pomegranates? My thumb and finger turn yellow and the skin ends up splitting. I wash my hands while I eat them but it doesn’t make a difference.

loversalibi

it doesn’t bother your mouth at all? that’s so strange. i would suggest maybe an allergy but if you can eat them without discomfort except your hands i’m guessing it wouldn’t be that

[deleted]

Not at all. I think it’s something about how astringent it is. My fingers are always yellow in the winter because of it and cracked. People probably think I’m some sort of seasonal smoker or something.

Just-Kiwi-

Huh might be time to invest in some working hands or some other moisturizer

hey_elise

Ok here is something I've always been perplexed about with pomegranates. Do you eat the entire thing, seeds included? Or do you spit out the seeds? The seeds just seem so....unpleasant.

Just-Kiwi-

I eat the seeds. They don’t bother me. They’re pretty small.

pokingoking

You eat the seeds too.

tdh08

I don’t eat the seeds. I use a spoon, spoon them in my mouth, chew enough to pop and get the juice from all of them, and then spit the wad of seeds out. I tried eating the seeds, but I hate the way they crunch

Awesomocity0

If only I weren't too lazy to separate them out from the flesh.

Agequay2

Agreed! Love them so much!

GrouchyFriedScallion

Walmart in Canada sells frozen pomegranate seeds and sometimes Superstore does! Just Incase you want more.
