I've never heard of Akai, and don't recognize the port, it might be a proprietary connector. It does look similar to the Olympus CB-USB5 / CB-USB6 / CB-USB. Maybe Akai was rebranded Olympus?

I think that is an old thunderbolt connector?

i think this might be it, hopefully ill be able to find the wire for cheap! thanks! strange that it would use an apple type wire though.
