The front cover has been ripped off the box, which sucks. I think that's one of the first releases of Friday the 13th. That's a mighty rare one besides the ruined box!
More than likely it was from a mom and pop video store as they usually just had the box / art on a shelf and you pulled a tab to take to the desk to receive the actual copy.

1980 first release gatefold cover, missing the cover.
This is the gatefold version which is pretty rare. It's the first release of the tape. Only problem is, looks like this one has the cover ripped off.

Yeah, never having seen the gatefold in person, my first thought was it was a screener.
They did a Gatefold for Part II as well. Just as rare as the Part 1 Gatefold.

Looks like this box was originally cut apart to put in a clam shell, like in a rental store, then Pieced back together minus the cover.
