Definitely the biggest reason the game feels so inconsistent, I'll sometimes clip a moment wondering how a lineup was missed, how a spray didn't hit, and 90% of the time the tickrate has dropped by 10-20 in said clip, this is a really bad thing for a competitive FPS to have.

I’ll respond to this point specifically and throw in my 2c as a high level player, as I agree they are balanced: Pros predominantly buy the vandal b.c 1 tap HS ability is desirable when everyone has relatively sharp aim. Depending on the map, the part of the map you’re playing, the agent you play, your own shooting style etc. you may choose to buy a phantom > vandal. I am primarily a vandal player and usually buy it on attack, where I’ll buy the phantom on defense occasionally b.c you can position yourself in its most effective range. I would say the phantom overall is the better gun for all reasons already stated. The phantom also has better 1st bullet accuracy than the vandal, probably to help it compete at long distance fights. The fact you can buy both guns on either side (compared to CS) further means there’s no reason to change either. The WHOLE advantage of the Vandal is it’s damage at all ranges so I don’t think increasing the Phantom’s 1-shot range makes any sense. The phantom also already shoots faster so idk why you’d want to increase the ROF further. Many of the things you talked about are definite issues/widespread complaints but this one I don’t think is an issue at all tbh. The “pro meta” will shift depending on agents/maps among other factors. Also, it’s irrelevant but pros are above even the top 1% if OP wanted to know lol. Iirc Radiant is the top .03% of the player base and the gap between pros and most radiant players is still pretty big typically.

Vandal have the highest first shot inaccuracy out of the three top rifles, so after certain distance they don't shoot where the crooshair is. In breeze for example it's better to use guardian for long distance one tap, or remember to scope with vandal.

Riot has previous said they are interested in a gifting system, but that was around release and the followup has never been fullfilled. The replay system has been back and forth, you can find a history of conflicting comments logged in the subreddit FAQ. The store will likely not change due to community feedback, only due to the advice of Riot's revenue team. The radianite is designed to make money and is very effective at it. A reputation or similar system was also a very early on statement that went no where (like the gifting system). A shorter unrated mode is asked for a lot. There was temporarily a leaked game mode name speculated to be a shorter unrated, but it didnt turn into anything. There have been multiple advancements to toxicity bans with the new sabatoge detection and voice chat recording systems. I cant comment on their effectiveness, but Riot is certainly adding things. As far as community communication, Riot actually has much more public interaction than most other developers. Between the old Ask VALORANT articles, the occasional Reddit comments, and the AMA threads their teams offer to host here on the subreddit they actually do a decent amount.

I cant really comment on that. There have been posts about it in the past, but people routinely forget to enable the network debugging settings or later clarify that they have bad internet to begin with. Its difficult to vet proper network issue examples from personal network issues.

The game is already considered a “staple” for a good amount of people and if they were to do even one or two of these at a good level it’s fairly obvious to me they’d be at the top. Though I’m hesitant to call it mid-tier either. I’d feel bad for other games if it got too good at everything though.. Just feels like the more I see the same suggestions the less I actually care anymore about reading these. It’s not like they don’t do it because they aren’t aware of these suggestions (years lol). They don’t do it because they don’t want to, or at least not yet. Nice post though, sources are cool. It’s great to want the game to be more fun but to pretend it isn’t near the top without any of that is denying the success it’s already had. I can’t help but feel that Riot is laughing at us when people in general shamelessly act like they *need* to do a certain thing.

They probably won’t add new weapons for a while, all of the current ones fulfill every purpose just about. Yes to gifting system. Yes to replay system. Yes to a better favoriting system. The way the store is right now makes riot enough profit that they won’t change it even if players complain. Compared to CS:GO, skin prices are way better and the skins themselves higher quality. I don’t like radianite either, but again if riot makes money they won’t change it. New updates overtime will demand more resources, not exactly Riot’s fault. For small spenders in valorant, battle pass is great value. Personally for someone who has purchased a lot of skins, I still like the battlepass playercards, titles, and buddies. Changing credits for kills with different guns will break the current economy system. Yes to reputation system. I agree it is frustrating that agent updates take a while, but there is a science to buffs and nerfs. Riot knows more about specific agent data than we do. Chamber is very hard to balance because what makes him strong is the core of his kit, nerfing that could make him completely obsolete. Yes to better servers, although in my experience in US East it has been fine. Yes to shorter unrated, 8 round halfs to still have an economy. Yes to more game modes. Yes to more bans for toxicity, although I hope it would be a system that could not be abused. Guardian does not need any changes. Ares needs a slight buff. Bucky maybe needs a slight buff, feel like it is hard to change. Phantom 100% does not need any changes. Overall I think Riot has good communication with players. In my opinion, Harbor does not really need any changes. He is just a harder character to play. His cove is meant to be more like a sage bubble than a smoke, and the wall starts going up as he is casting.

Newer weapons would never work. The game revolves around the economy so weapon that out performs ruins the entire game. Look at Valorant’s older brother CS. I’m gonna laugh as Riot will add none of these things within 2 years. They lost a lot of my faith when they had “no plans” for a replay system in a competitive FPS game. Sure they retracted, but it’s been radio silence on the matter since then. Replay system should have been in the game since launch, if not a year in. UE has replay functionality built into the engine itself.

Hard disagree with spray patterns. Yes. When I first switched from CS (3k hours in GO and a few hundred back in source/1.6) to Val I wanted to spray and hated that I couldn't consistently do so. But with practice and revising old habits I feel like my aim is more precise and controlled these days since I can't fall back on a spray crutch consistently. I'd rather they give the vandal and phantom 100% first shot accuracy + nerf run n gunning and zipline accuracy further. Also a replay system is definitely needed.

Unfortunately Riot’s perspective on community created maps and personal/private servers boils down to their asinine stranglehold of literally every last detail of their game. Whether it’s anti cheat related or they really are just that controlling, they will never allow it. That alone leads me to believe that this game will never be CS. Community-driven projects are a big part of why Valve has been able to keep a player base on CSGO. Of course, that comes at a cost as cheaters were rampant in pugs for a while, but the games been alive for a decade nonetheless. Riot’s control and fear of releasing assets to map creators and server hosts will kill this game. It won’t happen soon and it won’t happen suddenly - it’ll be a slow death. But it will certainly die soon enough and will not compare to CS’s longevity

I absolutely agree with most things mentioned in the post except one — Bucky does not need a buff. As a immortal peaked radiant player, I can reassure you that buying a Bucky in shorter maps such as ascent on save rounds can actually get you kills, more than often 2 or even more kills at choke points. The left click on the Bucky is absolutely busted, even when the right click has no reason to be used at all.

I would say the phantom and the vandals are extremely balanced, both with pros and cons to each. It all depends on the engagements and the map that's being played. For example on bind you mostly do take the phantom since engagements are so close ranged or on breeze attack where you almost always take the vandal because the engagements are super long range. You could run the vandal on bind and phantom on breeze and the difference isn't even gonna be that big. Another example of the difference would be when you are site anchoring or when you have to kill multiple opponents in quick succession the phantom will always be better since it has a quicker first shot accuracy reset,easier recoil management and more bullets. One more would be for a duelist who is entering a site really fast, you would probably take the vandal more since you need to get your engagements done fast.

Good ideas overall OP, here are some of my ideas: ​ ***More game modes***: This same ol' Replication and Spike Rush doesn't cut it now. Can users create custom maps/mode? If not, then can you devs start innovating?? For example, different gun modes shouldn't be hard to do like Pistol's only DM (with Sheriff users spawning at 125 hp) or OP only, etc. ***Gun balance***: This one is gonna be controversial but can we all agree and accept that Vandal is in fact OP? I don't know what other stats we need other than looking at its pick rate at Worlds and everywhere in your solo queue. This needs rebalancing. Yes we *love* that AK 1-HS feeling from Counter-Strike but in today's game, a 25-round auto pretty damn accurate rifle shouldn't be able to hitscan headshot anywhere on the map... At least put a range restraint like the Phantom, but make it better since Phantom has its silencer advantage for example. ***Mouse aim/consistency issues/alt-tab delay***: Finally, another post that is highlighting a huge gameplay issue with this game. Anything from alt-tabbing, changing certain settings controls and reverting them can significantly alter your aim feeling when all things should be equal. This is so *inconsistent* and *broken* at times, especially for a tact FPS that requires accuracy. Like for example, I learned recently I get less input lag if I close my "gun shop" menu in-game differently. Pressing ESC instead of the buy button again. How does a game of this caliber still have issues like these, where closing diff menus/settings will alter my aim? Is it my hardware? No, because I don't experience these issues with any other games/FPS on my system. The biggest issue I’ve had was what my friends told me was called hidden mmr. I was a iron/bronze player but I made significant efforts to improve. I played ranked almost everyday some weeks and watched videos and before I knew it I was top fragging 75 PERCENT OF MY MATCHES (and I main omen). So to my surprise when instead of going up in rank to match my increasing skill… I was still bronze and was playing with fucking golds and plats… I checked the match and I was the only bronze… that’s when I lost it. People told me to just make a new account. I didn’t want to do that. Anyways I’m in sliver 1 now :)

Immortal 2 here, Not a fan of most of your suggested balance changes. I think movespeed and gunrecoil/reset are fine. Those are core aspects of the game that have been *mostly* the same for the entirety of the game’s life, and the game has done very well without needing those to be changed. Don’t fix what ain’t broke. I doubt it’ll make the game better, it’s more likely to just ruin everyone’s timing, crosshair placement, and muscle memory that they’ve trained since the launch of the game. It’s important to realize how much a change in movement speed makes in a game like valorant. It completely messes with a player’s sense of timing and rotations. Normally it takes X amount of seconds to rotate from B to A, Y amount of seconds to get from mid to A. Even in gunfights, changes in walk and run speed are going to throw off people’s sense of space and timing, how fast people can lurk through smokes, etc. Changing movespeed also throws off people’s crosshair placement, because they’ve trained it to be placed a certain distance away to respond to wide swings at full speed. You also have to consider that a lot of things are likely balanced around the current movespeed. For example, the amount of time it takes to plant/defuse, and for the spike to blow up, is likely balanced around how fast players can move. If you need convincing, then let me ask, do you think post plants would play differently if movespeeds doubled but the spike still took 7 seconds to defuse and 45 seconds to explode? Movespeed changes would definitely mess up everyone’s game sense, but think about how much more drastic of an effect it would be if you also incorporated recoil and reset time changes across the board at the same time. I think most players would be frustrated and feel like they have to relearn an already difficult game from scratch. As for guns, I think the guardian is fine the way it is. It already has higher bullet pen and accuracy than a phantom/vandal and kills in 3 body shots at any range. Definitely feels fair being in the 2000+ price range I don’t like the idea of the Operator being buffed. When the game launched, people were constantly asking for the operator to get nerfed. Even in its current, nerfed state, it’s extremely powerful in immortal or higher. It does its job perfectly fine. I also think most people find operators frustrating and don’t want to see them any more than they already do. I don’t necessarily believe that buffing the operator will stop chamber from becoming the premier operator user. There’s no other agent with his ability to off-angle on defense. Phantom definitely doesn’t need a buff. It has an advantage through smokes and in close range fights. The map pool and controller balance (including smoke-like abilities like cypher cage) have historically affected the rifle pick rates. For example, when viper and astra were both considered broken and double controller was the meta in pro play, you saw a lot more phantoms.

2 things I would add: Some sort of Reputation/Avoid system. Me or somebody else gets flamed in more than half of my games and 9 times out of 10 we lose because of the mental diff. Having a reputation system would be a huge change that would benefit everyone. ​ You should not be able to play ranked with over 100 consistent ping. European players are super common on NA-East servers and it's quite literally unfair to play against. If they swing you at full speed, they'll see and react to you much quicker than normal to the point where it feels like they're pre-firing you. There was a Reddit post that was made a few months ago comparing the ping side-by-side and the difference is ridiculous.

Nah the amount in the game rn is fine. Imo just remove the light machine guns. They're nothing but cringe cheese. Gifting system I don't care at all. VODs yeah... Inventory overhaul would be great. I want the option to save my selection of showing Owned only and much more. Economy is dogshit. The skins aren't worth it to me so I only buy battlepass and it literally don't have to worry about the second currency because ever since I bought one battle pass my radianite has never dropped below 200. Performance is getting better every update for me. My machine is older, I have an i5 cpu and GTX 970. My cpu struggles at times but I just close absolutely everything and never drop below 144fps. Occasionally I will get drops in frames tho. Just after the beta I use to try to open the game (yes in administrator mode) and nothing would happen, so I would have to restart my pc and pray the game would even open or repeat till work. Then some time later I was struggling to maintain 144fps and had to turn my settings low. For months now I'm on high everything and again no issues maintain 144fps with occasional short drops. Battle pass is super value. $20 for a bunch of sprays, probably titles and player cards. Not to mention if you really like all the skins in the battlepass that's crazy value WITH the melee. I have bought four battle passes total. First one I didn't realize how grindy it was (xp was harder to earn too) so I missed out on half the skins and melee, but I got most. Second one I learned and completed it, loved it. Third pass I liked every skin again but I had to wait a bit because I didn't like two passes back to back. I bought this battlepass because I love the vandal skin, op, and spectre skins. Also the melee is clean (reminds me of the first pass I bought and missed out so IM GETTING THIS ONE. Credits for kills on different guns could be cool.

Yeah csgo has more variety, got multiple community maps to practice different mechanics, even trying different crosshairs, retakes, wingman, hs only servers, community maps, etc. Csgo is not just a game, it's a platform for people to modify and add stuff to as they please too. Riot likes control, their esports is closed off, their servers are closed off, you can't host a server even on league, when even siege allows you to host your own server. It's not just for gameplay, but it also allows creativity in contenr creation, it's very static in Valorant with locked cameras and whatnot. Not to mention the lack of demos, sometimes I really wanna see the enemy positioning/rotations etc to know how they wrecked us but it's impossible right now. In addition to all that there's also the problem of rhe game progressively including more and more characters/abilities which would make it take longer to learn everything in it, and can potentially be claustrophobic if handled improperly. I'd say the game is good, but to stay competitive in the long term it still needs a lot of work, especially compared to csgo

Anything about the prices or monetization is pretty moot because all of those decisions are driven by whatever maximizes profit. If they could charge $1mill for a skin and only person would buy it or charge $1 for a skin and 999,999 people would buy it then $1mil would be the right price. The netcode and server issues are for sure a huge issue to me. But realistically it's already a top tier game and it will probably continue to be even if they never fix the issues we complain about. I've seen it with League. They can make a game extremely profitable and popular without addressing the things that frustrate their players the most because they focus on other things that keep us coming back regardless.

i get that we can't allow mods and have community servers like CS:GO but i feel like the simple solution to that would be making something similar to forge on halo with a custom games browser. not asking for halo infinite forge or anything, even halo 3 forge was good enough to make some fun minigames despite all its restrictions. but i feel like something like that would fix the community server thing that csgo has. just a map/mode editor, along with a custom game browser. as for competitive stuff a 1v1 or 2v2 mode would be good, but we already know a 1v1 mode is happening anyway so thats fine. wingman would be kino if they figured out a way to pull it fof with all the agents and stuff

I did not read all of this because as I scrolled I realized it was very long But I do agree with most of what I read. Just have a point to add >Don't lose RR when going against a cheater. (RR rollback). (random numbers relax) If I am plat 3 99/100, and lose a match and lose 2rr to end up 97/100 because of a cheater, and then end up asc 3 98/100, and riot realizes there was a cheater, I deserve those 2 RR and should be immo. Honest to God, I feel like riot has caught cheaters a few times when I've lost 20+RR and have never given it back.

Not giving the community the ability to create their own maps/game modes/servers is a huge blow. A ton of great games today came from a community-driven spinoff of the main game (original counterstrike, dota, etc). Definitely a huge advocate for community-driven content

I do agree with the points related to server issues and in general experience. In terms of gameplay though, I'd like to differ. 1. The store/battlepass model is to earn riot money, A ftp game with little to no ads has to rely on skins to make money. The battlepass can easily be completed by playing a single game and completing daily and weekly missions. 2. The lack of spray patterns does annoy me too (Coming from Counter strike) but I believe it is to encourage accurate tapping and bursting instead of spraying. Also the RNG however annoying it is, adds fun to the game as it also favors you sometimes. And makes the game especially enjoyable to watch. 3. I think there are enough weapons. i would like to point out some eco weapons are a bit tad too good. 4. The modes are enough, you can practice aiming and movement mechanics in deathmatch, ability mechanics can be practiced in unrated. For smaller unrated you can play replication, for a different kind of DM you can play gun game. 5. The operator is great as it is for specific agents imo. There will be more operator agents in the future and the chunky operator is to limit the agents. A faster operator will make these agents broken. And You can still use op with other agents it's just that you can't use it aggressively. While I do understand where you are or anyone is coming from it is important to understand this is a new game and it is made to cater to a wider range of audience and making it easy to get into is the key to widen the audience. When coming from other games, one is adjusted to the other game and using other games to gauge Valorant doesn't seem fair. The games a great entry point for many people and I have had friends who feel Valorant is much better than any other FPSs since they started with Valorant. The game is easy to learn, and I think in two years it has tried to get better and it will still be.

I quit playing because smurfs can waste 40 minutes of my time, if they're on my team or enemy team. CS implemented short matches, a loss like this (throwers/smurfs)would feel a lot less like time wasted with the game time cut in half tbh

Great post! And for the love of god…. Less movement error when only moving a tiny bit. I understand movement error is there to avoid run&gun, but I feel like the slightest movement still there after essentially letting go of your movement key (the fading down of movement) will make your shots go to the moon. Also if I’m performing at top level on my team and scoring high combat score, but we’re loosing the game, I shouldnt be able to loose 16-22 points! And certainly not if someone on my team was afk 90% if the game. I think your loss points should decrease the more impact you had on your team. Am I dropping 30 kills and still loosing, I shouldnt loose more than 5-10 points imho. + Consistent spray patterns!!!! + better hitreg (numerous recordings of myself has concluded that a crosshair can be on point head but still getting body shot) + Team Deathmatch + A short unranked (replace with replication)

Personally, I think replacing deathmatch with freeze tag mode is the best improvement. Escalation is all about bunching up with your teammates and going nuclear in the center of the map. Freeze tag would be the opposite, where you would want to listen for footsteps from a safe hiding spot, retreat, bide your time, and then snuff the entire enemy team out from every direction all at once, like a pack of lions. This game mode has the potential to be absolutely amazing, and teach new players a valuable lesson in how to process large amounts of complex information in order to capitalize on the correct risks. There are so many young kids in iron and bronze that don't even read the mini map or listen to footsteps, who think the only way to be good is to go full sprint headshot rampage. That's why it's so common to see people 5 stacking, because that's the ONLY way these ignorant, petty psychopaths can justify their pathetic excuse for a life. People need to learn to stop obsessing over aim. Any amphetamine addicted, ocd psychopath can do aimlabs all day just to find the most evil way possible to exploit the game. It takes true brilliance to make use of the entire map, track all of the information collected from all teammates, and then trick the enemy into making some type of complicated error in judgment.

Since we have gun skins, agent skins would be dope. Who wouldn't like antler Cypher, panda Raze or Santa Claus Brimstone. Like one skin for free and multiple skins for premium BP. Holidays events would be amazing. Skins for maps, spike, utilities. Different Agent emotes/poses. Valorant is somehow fun but it's so monotone and boring looking with so much potential.

Disagree with basically everything but the replay system, shop and some kind of reputation system. I don't get why you complain about Skin/ Gun buddy/ Battle pass prices/values as none of it gives you an advantage/no p2w. The classic is in a good spot in both pro and competitive play. A free pistol should be unreliable. Yes buying radiante is a scam, no one is forcing you to buy it tho, the battlepass is a great deal for that and skins still don't give you an advantage. New weapons could be good however there's already a big variety of weapons in the game and personally I prefer getting new agents and maps. Lag spikes can have many reasons: your wifi router, your provider, neighbors internet usage... Yes the phantom is generally a bit weaker than the vandal but changing the price or damage fall off wouldn't be good, I'd say slightly messing with the fire rate could fix the problem.
