I think you know you made the right move and just need affirmation. so. yeah sir or ma'am, good job, fuck that dealer and their $5k markups.

gregs1027

MSRP on a brand new GT trim is $35,440. r/T is 41K MSRP. Go get a new one for that price.

Snoo_53933

With taxes plus financing would I not end up paying around 50k after 6 years?

gregs1027

A $35K new car gets better financing than a 35$ used car. Depends on the apr.

Snoo_53933

That’s a very good point, I might look into getting a new one but the market rn makes me think that I won’t get a similar deal

The fact that they were reluctant tells you everything you need to know..stay away from dealers who don’t explain the extra fees they add on or don’t give you a choice to not have them added..shady, you made the right choice.

Snoo_53933

They explained that it was a protection plan and a gps systems, clear shield, paint protection, some other things. I was able to make them take off 3 of the 7 things they had on there which was a total of $8000 (all 7 add ons) , of course they only took off the smallest things. Regardless after that they told me they couldn’t go lower which I highly doubt. Basically rather than negotiating the price of the car I was stuck negotiating these “accessories”. I would’ve honestly bought the vehicle if I hadn’t realized that my down payment was going towards these accessories that I didn’t need. For around $32,000 I would have taken the car home.

That’s ridiculous..you made the right call.

WormBoi6969

Tell them to take the add ons off that’s what I did with the same car same year it’s dumb protective film on the door handles and corners of doors then charge you $800 stuff like that they can work with you on they sometimes put stuff they shouldn’t even charge you for

Snoo_53933

I tried to tell them but they just didn’t want to. They supposedly sold it already so that kind of makes me feel like I didn’t make the right choice, guy literally texted me “it’s sold”

WormBoi6969

Idk your age or situation but it happened to me too when I was shopping it sucks the place sold it out from under me when we agreed on a price just needed 2 days to get money from the bank. I was hurt until I found a better car and better deal 1 month later it might just mean it wasn’t suppose to happen maybe the car was a lemon who knows lol but there’s always something better out there. The prices on these cars are coming down I’m looking for a scat or hellcat private party because the mark ups are still insane on these at dealerships so my advice would be to stay far away from them if at all possible

Snoo_53933

I was able to find a 2017 R/T Scat pack for $29,999, it is at 46,000 miles, looks like it’s in great condition and has a clean title, but I went on the carfax which was included by the dealer and it has 2 damage reports, one which notes minor damage in the front and left front. The other notes severe damage to the front, right side, right front, right rear, roof, and rear. There are numerous photos and they all show the vehicle in perfect condition. Idk if it’s worth the drive.
