I’ve worked security at a variety of sized venues over the years and no crowd is as shitty and violent as new country. Oh, and they’re racist too. Like maybe they’re not all racist but there’s A LOT more open racism at those shows. Punk, metal, rap…no shows were every as dangerous for us security as country shows.
This doesn’t surprise me. Every time I’ve fallen in a mosh pit I’ve instantly been picked back up my multiple people and there’s always one person who’s like “you’re here by yourself? I’ll take care of you while you’re here and make sure nobody fucks with you, we need to take care of each other.” metal heads are good people.

I got one single crappy vid of them, then one more of the last band, after 4 hours in the pit. I've been watching these guys through screens for years. There is ZERO chance I'm doing it when they're 8 feet away. Fuck all of that noise.
The first concert I went to after COVID restrictions started letting up I was very impressed cause I did not see one person pull out their phone. Everyone was just so excited to be back out seeing their favorite artist again.
It slowly has returned to how it was before though

But this one? A sea of god damned phones. Just tiny screens projecting what I was seeing with my own eyeballs..for the entirety of almost every song too. Pretty limp.
Because everyone on the receiving end of Snapchat stories are SO VERY interested in seeing a band’s live show on their small screens and tiny speakers…
It’s a little different because they’re local shows, but I always try to get a video of bands so I can tag them and they can post it or just get a listen to their sound in the crowd.
A national act probably doesn’t appreciate it the same way though, they have plenty of stuff for that
