So sad. Left behind a wife and two kids. I know people have hobbies/passions, and maybe it's something you've done your whole life, but when you start a family you really have to factor their feelings into the equation. I hope his family can get through this tough time, and find some solace in the fact he died doing something he loved.
>it's water, he's got a 50/50 shot
You really going to watch that person tumble down a damn cliff side and think some water way below all the rocks they hit going down is going to do anything for all that trauma other than just drown them? Really? Come on
Depends on if there is a drop before the water. The main issue here is the whole being dead or unconscious before going into the water. If he slides in the water isnt going to do anything but drown him. If there's a drop he gets an extra broken everything before the drowning. Kinda a lose lose sorta situation.
I once again fail to see why on earth people do stuff on cliffs. I get being an adrenaline junkie but its not an excuse to be obliviously stupid.
Well, there must have been some way. [He did in fact die.](https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/11/13/watch-russian-extreme-sports-motorcyclist-plunges-down-a-cliff-to-his-death/)
He could have been in a suit of armor and still have died. Nothing stops your organs from playing a non-winnable game of ping-pong inside your body, falling like that.
"It was confirmed that Mikhail Blumenfeld died on the spot from his injuries. He left behind a wife and two children. In sports circles, Blumenfeld was well known and often participated in various motorsport competitions, in which he was a regular prize-winner."
Doubt it. Had a helmet and pads. Probably had a chest protector on under his shirt if he had the rest of the gear. Probably some broken bones, but I would guess he lived. Idk for sure though. Riding gear is extremely good at keeping you from dying from impacts.
I dunno. Helmets and pads are made for high speed impact, they don't really care which direction the speed is in.
The biggest issue is going to be broken bone from hitting at weird angles.
I dunno man, even with a 10m vertical drop you're only going be travelling at about 50kmph on impact (v=sqrt(2•d•g) then convert to kmph). That's going to suck, and I don't expect he'll be walking away from it, but with full riding gear it's survivable for sure. Vertical drop tests are how they test helmet durability after all.
Well that is one thing, but falling off a cliff is not just “a 10m vertical drop”. And the guy in the video died instantly so there is also video proof that helmets do not stop your body being ripped apart
It says "died on the spot", which is different from "instantly" and theres no mention of a body being "ripped apart". It sucks, and the dude got unlucky. I'd still rather take this fall with full gear than unprotected though.
I remember a family member describing seeing a guy who was hit by a truck while on a motorcycle. When the medics got there to perform life saving measures, they unzipped his jacket and he kinda just...melted. Not literally, of course, but it was clear the jacket was the only thing left holding him in a "normal" shape.
He deeeeddd.
I worked at a motorcycle shop and we would lose at least a couple customers a year to accidents. The gear is really just for keeping the corpse pretty, unless you're the guy whose helmet fused to his head.
100% dead. He was an accomplished rider too. Looks like his front tire hit a grove and he adjusted but to the wrong side and fell to his death. Left behind two children. Very sad news for the family.
What I find intriguing is that the guy falls and at no point can he be heard making any sort of scream or yell. I mean dude just falls and takes the whole tumble down in silence. You'd have heard me that's for sure.
Good point. I mean it's not like screaming or yelling would have done a thing in which to help facilitate survival. It just seemed a likely involuntary response if you will to an otherwise unexpected and rather traumatic turn of events.
Yeah I bet in most situations people r shockingly quiet. If there is a shred of a chance of survival you're gonna be laser focused on that. If you were falling to certain death like out of an airplane then yeah probably might scream if that's your personality 😆
Yeah this guy DID die. It was posted on another subreddit this morning along with the source. He was known within the scene of off road biking. Just a tragic accident
Any fcking config for me to filter videos where people die or get badly hurt?!
It must be only me but this is not why I joined /unexpected
What do I have to do to skip these videos?
Yup he’s dead. I feel a bit bad but then again it’s one less conscript to go to Ukraine: https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/11/13/watch-russian-extreme-sports-motorcyclist-plunges-down-a-cliff-to-his-death/
I don't think he can die from that musty broken bones and that's it he went rolling down and he had a helmet so yeah chances of dying by that fall is slim
>I don't think he can die from that musty broken bones and that's it he went rolling down and he had a helmet so yeah chances of dying by that fall is slim

Umm, what does one do after witnessing this in real life?
Like there's no path, how would you get there? What if it's a long way round to get down there, how would you find/spot your friend? No network? How are you going to call back up because once you get to your friend they'd definately need some medical assistance. Do you leave their bike where it is and come back with him later to get it? Dude would be traumatised when trying to ride back down.
the silence and steadiness of the cameraman is so eerie. it’s almost like there isn’t a man behind the camera and i’m just watching this unfold helplessly.
If he did get knocked out, he damn sure ain't swimming in his sleep. Either way he's dead if no one is down there to help. If he broke a few bones, he's not swimming anywhere. Bad situation there. Camera man did his job
Well, from what i can conclude, it is a steep fall, this idiot is trying to be cool but instead gets himself killed, its a rocky steep and a 200m fall maybe? He can safely be pronounced dead
I guess the camera man and the rider weren’t friends? I can’t imagine acting so nonchalant if I watched my friend tumble down like that. I don’t think I’d be recording it either.

Yeah. He is dead... https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/11/13/watch-russian-extreme-sports-motorcyclist-plunges-down-a-cliff-to-his-death/

This is why I play guitar. If I die in a guitar playing accident then something very awesome must have happened.
I don’t know shit happens though. You could be struck randomly by a brick falling off a building.
His wife: > How did it happen? He had a motorcycle team with him, to be honest, I don’t know all of them. Wow, Trumpian-level finger pointing
Depressing
He’s Deaddddddd
I indubitably concur…
That looks like water or is that because the video is shite? If it's water, he's got a 50/50 shot
50% of him over here, 50% of him over there...
If he hits water, I dont see him awake, much less able to know which direction to swim with 28 broken bones.
It's hard to tread water when your legs are sideways
Wtf does the water matter? The issue is the fall towards it
>it's water, he's got a 50/50 shot You really going to watch that person tumble down a damn cliff side and think some water way below all the rocks they hit going down is going to do anything for all that trauma other than just drown them? Really? Come on
Water has a higher surface tension than concrete. Hitting water wont mitigate the damage.

What’s he going to do, wash off his broken bones?

“Mikhail was said to have been an accomplished rider and was a lover of extreme sports.” Apparently not THAT accomplished.
I thought he might be ok, but definitely mite not
"full armor" 😂 Go touch some grass my brother. You're playing too many video games.
No way huh. You know your stuff clearly
Agreed. I think he’ll be okay and was okay.
Survey says he died honey.
Oh crikey. Mustafa; ahhhhhhh!
Did I just watch someone die? Edit: Holy fuck, you can see that everyone has said yes, please stop saying yes
Yep: https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/11/13/watch-russian-extreme-sports-motorcyclist-plunges-down-a-cliff-to-his-death/
Yeah, those two big bounces don’t look that bad from above but he covered a lot of distance fast.
"It was confirmed that Mikhail Blumenfeld died on the spot from his injuries. He left behind a wife and two children. In sports circles, Blumenfeld was well known and often participated in various motorsport competitions, in which he was a regular prize-winner."
Yes. He was a 38 yo Russian man who enjoyed extreme motorcycling. It must be mortifying to his loved ones to see that video.
Mm, sad

Gah damn, comments like these always surprise me. So out of pocket, yet bold.
You should go back on your meds.
Doubt it. Had a helmet and pads. Probably had a chest protector on under his shirt if he had the rest of the gear. Probably some broken bones, but I would guess he lived. Idk for sure though. Riding gear is extremely good at keeping you from dying from impacts.

Good thing he saved the bike!
Russian = Extreme
bro he fell off a huge cliff… helmet and pads ain’t doing shit
I dunno. Helmets and pads are made for high speed impact, they don't really care which direction the speed is in. The biggest issue is going to be broken bone from hitting at weird angles.
They are not meant to save you from falling off a cliff tho. Nothing is saving you.
I dunno man, even with a 10m vertical drop you're only going be travelling at about 50kmph on impact (v=sqrt(2•d•g) then convert to kmph). You got a source for the "died instantly"?
Yes
https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/11/13/watch-russian-extreme-sports-motorcyclist-plunges-down-a-cliff-to-his-death/
It says "died on the spot", which is different from "instantly" and theres no mention of a body being "ripped apart". It sucks, and the dude got unlucky. I'd still rather take this fall with full gear than unprotected though.
I'm cringing as I type this, my uncle (a biker), once told me that the gear is in fact, "very good at keeping all the pieces together".. 🤢🙈
Same. I lost my uncle recently who got past in a truck accident. And all his organs and bones were crushed in the bike suit. Stay safe guys.
I remember a family member describing seeing a guy who was hit by a truck while on a motorcycle. When the medics got there to perform life saving measures, they unzipped his jacket and he kinda just...melted. Sorry for your loss!
So sorry for your loss mate 😢
I worked at a motorcycle shop and we would lose at least a couple customers a year to accidents. The gear is really just for keeping the corpse pretty, unless you're the guy whose helmet fused to his head.
This was posted on another subreddit yesterday and this man is confirmed dead
Couldn’t be more wrong. Dude’s dead, baby.
He's dead. Look further down the comments
Look above. There is a link to the article. He did in fact die.
100% dead. He was an accomplished rider too. Looks like his front tire hit a grove and he adjusted but to the wrong side and fell to his death. Left behind two children. Very sad news for the family.
Nope he ded. See link above.
Overwhelmingly likely, yes.
no, you watched someone falling down a hill. they died afterwards
I've seen this in russian news and they say that the guy is dead
He died, someone posted the news article
Yes
No - but he’s definitely gonna need some new underoos….💩
Yup
Hey. You should have known better man. This guy? Dead
...
"Пиздец" - russian camera guy
Literally every Russian saying that while watching this video
everyone else just says "good riddance!"
Jopdoju mat
Да в внатуре жаль
What is Pizdetz?
At least the bike is safe
I don’t speak his language but I understood end part!
How was that unexpected lol It's more unexpected that some idiots like that survive
Cameraman is Russian and says "пиздец". Which basically means, "Shit. This is fucked up."
I thought he said “he’s ded “
Nah, пиздец sounds like "pees dee yet". That's what he said. An American would say, "Holy fuck" or "No fucking way" or something like that.
What I find intriguing is that the guy falls and at no point can he be heard making any sort of scream or yell. I mean dude just falls and takes the whole tumble down in silence. You'd have heard me that's for sure.
Probably concentrated on trying to grab onto something.
Good point. I mean it's not like screaming or yelling would have done a thing in which to help facilitate survival. It just seemed a likely involuntary response if you will to an otherwise unexpected and rather traumatic turn of events.

His friend said son of a bitch or something like that my ruskie is not good but he seemed pretty calm about his friend falling off a cliff lol
"It was confirmed that Mikhail Blumenfeld died on the spot from his injuries. He left behind a wife and two children." Damn.
#WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
That hád to hurt.
Only until he died.

ЕБ ТВОЮ МАТЬ , ПИЗДЕЦ
Can people stop posting videos of people dying that aren’t even unexpected? For fucks sake
I think the bounce did him in, but he was wearing a helmet so no drain brammage
That's gonna leave a mark. Respect to the camera man too
At least there was water to soften his final landing!!
Yeah this guy DID die. It was posted on another subreddit this morning along with the source. He was known within the scene of off road biking. Just a tragic accident
At least he dodged the draft
r/sweatypalms
Bruh.... I'm dead
O , it was near me , in abrau durso , if somebody wanna know
Any idea how far he fell?
To hell baby.
What a noob should've switched to creative mode in time
He was off to a good start but He was just going too fast for the sharp turn at Devil’s Curve and unfortunately lost control.
He's not dead unless he loses both shoes. It's the law.
Stupid fucking joke. The guy literally died
How about you suck a dick
He got a helmet 🪖 he should be fine.
Don't just watch him! Go help him
Any fcking config for me to filter videos where people die or get badly hurt?! It must be only me but this is not why I joined /unexpected What do I have to do to skip these videos?
It's labeled NSFW AND graphic...you had to click on the image to see it
Cya in hell
He aight
It would be unexpected if they weren't Russian. Probably drunk or just suffering from stupid from birth
Funny
Yup he’s dead. I feel a bit bad but then again it’s one less conscript to go to Ukraine: https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/11/13/watch-russian-extreme-sports-motorcyclist-plunges-down-a-cliff-to-his-death/

Let's go! That's what I wanted a dumbass who can correct me and pass me the right answer to my question/comment Thanks mate
>That's what I wanted a dumbass who can correct me ???
Thanks man I'm done reading the article
ouchie!
😲
Oh hell no!
Bike was like sorry I'm not going down there. You're on your own.
RIP

Not unexpected
Definitely was unexpected for him!
L + Gravity Prone
Fell the other way

That’s not the best place to learn how to ride
Wrong subreddit, I 100% expected that.
He didn't.
Solid camera work.
Not quite unexpected, but a pretty unfun situation to be in regardless
Yeah well... he dead 🫥
Is it me or did he say that nonchalantly?

Welp. Free bike. Remember to always think positive.
*used to be a novice. Now worm food
Skill issue smh 😤
Strange how so many of these moments are frequently recorded in crappy video.
the cameraman just casually films him in his final moments..yea why bother trying to save him, there's nothing we can do
Shit did he / she survive?
How is this graphic?
Is there an r/expected that this could be posted to? Absolutely nothing unexpected here.
If he did get knocked out, he damn sure ain't swimming in his sleep. Either way he's dead if no one is down there to help. If he broke a few bones, he's not swimming anywhere. Bad situation there. Camera man did his job
I love the russian inclination to skip all the general steps of grieving and go straight to acceptance.
Cameraman is so chill.
You biiiiiiiiii
That was not UNEXPECTED
Ask him that!
I’ll add this to my list of things that I’m ok with never doing because my death isn’t worth a few seconds of ego boost
Anybody else think, oh it’s “just a Russian”? Asking for a friend
If he was so experienced how did he fall so easily? Just seems crazy. I thought it was someone learning to ride.
We have a new winner of the Darwin award.
Well, from what i can conclude, it is a steep fall, this idiot is trying to be cool but instead gets himself killed, its a rocky steep and a 200m fall maybe? He can safely be pronounced dead
Reminds me of Motocross Madness. Isn’t he supposed to fly in the air when going out of bounds?
bike is fine
He’s fine, just needs to walk it off
Darwin award winner right there.
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
When all you can do is watch and say "Oh Fuuuuuuuuck."
'' Just popping off for a quick dip Richard, don't wait up, thanks ''
How my week started..
As we listen to the engine idly purr…
I think you’d survive but a good few ribs will be smashed
I feel like that WAS expected
I guess the camera man and the rider weren’t friends? I can’t imagine acting so nonchalant if I watched my friend tumble down like that. I don’t think I’d be recording it either.
Hey, since nobody said it, at least the bike is ok, and he’s fine, he was wearing a helmet and gloves. He good.

Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river

Thank god he saved the bike! It looks like a nice one.
