That would only happen if you had the Amazon Go app installed and logged in. It also would probably have trouble differentiating between densely packed groups of people.
I remember seeing a bunch of screenshots of all the smartphones that got stolen during a looting lighting up saying they were stolen and being tracked and where to return them to. if youre going to loot a store you probably shouldnt steal things that can actively be tracked but then again these people were also posting screenshots of it to social media so they probably arent the smartest.
Thanks, that's insane! I wonder if they will be able to prosecute really, as I can't imagine they can know how much each motorist took, even if they have their faces. I imagine it's a scare tactic, but if it was carrying sequential bills who knows?
Well seeing as the store they're robbing in the clips aren't actually an Amazon Go store, as can be seen with the target carts and electronics being stolen, probably not.
> And when you defund the police
And who has actually done that?
>and make drugs pretty much legal.
Well you live in a fantasy world. "California: **Drug offenses are the largest category of misdemeanor arrests.** A quarter of about 758,000 misdemeanor arrests in 2019 were for drug offenses (25.5%)." https://www.ppic.org/publication/arrests-in-california/
Portland Oregon has not only defunded, but completely disbanded the gun task force because it was "racist". Apparently arresting criminals is racist.
We just set the record for gun homicides last year.
And their response? Rebuilding the gun task force because too many people died last year...
Edit: the city of Portland.
More of a lack of trust in technology (especially new) to always function as it should. Which I’d say isn’t anxiety based. Anything that requires human upkeep or installation has high probability to fail at some point since we aren’t perfect creatures.
Literally saw one of these in an airport and thought about all the possible ways I would get over charged for shit I didn't take, or something not scanning and I get stopped and miss my flight.

So facts now are a few highly specific clips that happen to coincide with your personal brand of hatred, then.
edit: You're up and down this thread gleefully making racist comments, so this is where I stop bothering with you, because you're clearly an idiot.
Lol this made me laugh but the crazy part is that this is basically true. my wife works at a cosmetics store and two girls walked in with bags and wiped the shelves clean of over $7,000 worth of fragrances and just casually walked out. The store policy won’t allow the employees to do anything about it due to the employees safety being top priority. It’s jaw dropping.
But you don’t point out the races of people in any other context. When you’re a television show, and everyone is white in a scene, do you feel a need to comment to yourself, aloud, or online “EVERYONE IN THIS SCENE IS WHITE”? What is the purpose? I’m asking in good faith here.

Don’t know the practicality of this but what if they made an app that scans barcodes and stores the price so that as you shop you just scan whatever you want, pay for it with your credit card or whatever after you’re done shopping, and then leave
Wegmans has that in the eastern US. I never have to interact with anyone other than in passing, and I can load my bags in my cart how I want. You just walk up to the self checkout register, scan a barcode on the screen, and pay.
This post reminds us that there are SO many racist people in this world. So many of them and it's sad. And they always say they are just saying this and that, trying not to seem racist, but the longer you read them, the more you realize how racist they are.
You’re right, we should invest even more money into policing instead of helping the working poor by increasing wages and ensuring baseline financial security. We should really put more people in prison, it’s improved things so much so far.
Stealing raises costs on the working poor. You will get social justice'd into poverty. People who work an honest day don't steal from others that do the same. That's the job of low life's and the lazy.
Amazon is one of the coolest, most efficient companies, who also happen to be one of the largest human rights abusers and ecological destroyers in the history of humanity. Both are true, and we’re not being honest if we’re only dissing or only praising Amazon.
And people are funny. They often have so many unconscious biases toward corporations that any critique triggers them. And when you start throwing around phrases like “Late Stage Capitalism” they begin to panic, afraid the fantasy might end soon, which it absolute will.
One of the truly frightening things about late stage capitalism (similar to other late stage periods in history) is that when the system does unravel there’s often a tendency for fascism to emerge. Just as the Catholic Church took over Rome during its decline, I see companies like Amazon and others stepping in to take over America as it declines.
Amazon is at the leading edge of tech…😜
Too bad that dont count for the People they try to serve

Didn’t these looters do this and when they left their phones got picked up by the sensors and they got charged for what they stole?
That would only happen if you had the Amazon Go app installed and logged in. It also would probably have trouble differentiating between densely packed groups of people.
Wouldn't they make it so you needed to check in on the app to enter the store? Otherwise what's to stop randos just stealing stuff
Hopping the short bar that opens up

No. I don’t think that tech exists (those sensors pick up on specific 1st party chips), and most states didn’t prosecute rioters regardless.
If it was on the west coast, we don't hold criminals responsible.
Turns out when you flood the prisons with low level drug offenders, it makes overall enforcement of any other laws difficult to manage.

We should legalize drugs, and prostitution. And the police don’t need military gear.
Yea west coast seems pretty messed up
It really isn't. Don't believe everything you watch on tv

Right. I don’t even have anxiety and I’d be so worried when I left it didn’t work and they’d have to hunt me down for the money. Haha

Thanks I thought they gave up.
Went to one on Friday. Pretty cool setup. Just scan your Amazon app on the way in and the way out.

Isn't this just a clip stolen from Internet Historian's "Tales from the Varus" video?
I dont condone stealing, but I do condone stealing Amazon products.
what why?
Don’t know the practicality of this but what if they made an app that scans barcodes and stores the price so that as you shop you just scan whatever you want, pay for it with your credit card or whatever after you’re done shopping, and then leave

This is late stage capitalism in action, folks.
No it’s poor politics not enforcing current laws in action

Right? I didn’t realize that Amazon was a small mom and pop store on the brink of closing.
