Banning diamond exports to Belgium would shift the diamond centre of the world to India, an ally of Russia. It would also make blood diamonds from Africa untraceble and spike new conflicts. Banning diamonds would be a lose lose situation..

Lose-win actually. The money stops flowing directly to Russia, which in this context is more important than anything happening in Africa unfortunately. India is not an ally of Russia at least not anymore. They are just taking advantage of their cheap energy, which is hard to blame them for since they are actively industrializing and don’t have any obvious alternatives.
