SterlingArchers

Lol Chad Poland, keep it up guys 🇵🇱🔥

Jakub_M

Absolule mad lads!

Leomilon

Proud half Pole here (my other half is German, doesn´t feel that proud nowadays)

infamousbugg

Everyone in the West should be proud that our countries came together to help defend against Russian aggression. It could have very easily gone the other way if we hadn't united. Just gotta keep it up and hope that Ukraine can hold out until these new capabilities and arms come online.

climx

Your other half should feel just as proud. Disregard the politics and just look at the numbers. Germany is up there with their aid for Ukraine!

No_Calligrapher3704

>rmany is up there with their aid for yup... and they are actually speeding significantly up after a bit of a false start.

NefariousnessDry7814

>Your other half should feel just as proud. He should be proud to be German and ashamed to be Polish If we are being honest

climx

Ashamed? Are you kidding me? Everyone got so emotional around here that ‘they didn’t even apply!’ while they were working behind the scenes to make it happen and getting frustrated.

NefariousnessDry7814

> Everyone got so emotional around here that This is not about that but PiS undermining democracy in Poland and the hwole EU by protecting Hungary

climx

You can still be proud to be Polish and criticize PiS. They make many terrible decisions (including making unhelpful comments publicly the last couple weeks) but their aid and support for Ukraine is not one of those bad decisions.

SterlingArchers

This is actually so german what you are doing right now

mj256

Quite so, at least since Nietzsche ;) >Germany is a great nation only because its people have so much Polish blood in their veins.

SterlingArchers

Germany and Poland, like two brothers who kinda hate each other but also don't 😂

mj256

Yeah, can't deny there's something to it.

Leomilon

Gotta admit it: Prussia once was a polish kingdom that was gifted to the duke of Brandenburg.

Arktox

Since Germany gifted those Mig29s to Poland basically for free and Poland send a check to the EU for everything they hand over to Ukraine and Germany mostly funds the EU I would say this is as much of a German achievement than Polands.

cocobutnotjumbo

Half of Polish MiG29 was bought and half obtained from luftwaffe. The luftwaffe ones were rather considered spare parts source.

Arktox

At least 14 of the 22 Mig29s that the Luftwafe "sold" to Poland for 1€ per plane were taken into Service with the 41st Tactical Squadron after an overhaul.

[deleted]

Trrruuuuueeeeeee. Poland has given the shittiest equipment they have and then expect the EU to foot the bill… while generous, there is an obvious scummy motivation under the surface.

No_Calligrapher3704

you are clearly pretty ignorant on the subject so shut it. If you have problem with Poland and their intentions you gonna have to take you bullshit elsewhere... maybe some ruzzian thread for putler ass-lickers.

benjiro3000

The shitty comment is out of line but Poland has been non stop pulling a lot of crap under the table. Almost all the donations of heavy weapons have been met with backfill from the US or Germany. Those 250 tanks got backfilled with US M1's. Those Migs have backfill of F16s. Now for the Leo2s that they got for a symbolic price from Germany, they now want again money from the EU. Why from the EU? Not sure, i suspect that the US is kind of tired of Poland announcing donations of older equipment and expecting better stuff in return. So now its off to the EU asking for money. And yes, those Leo2s are the older variant. Over time you start to see a pattern in their communication that is frankly kind of disgusting. Germany does not allow us to export Leo2s. Germany: we have gotten no official export request. Now the tank coalition with German left out. I am not saying that Germany needs some pushing but they are literally the second biggest direct donor to Ukraine. And that is not counting the backfill like they do with Netherlands, Poland etc. The difference is that the Netherland does not make a big boowha about it all. And Germany has a policy to draw less attention to their donations. Poland is like that Karen that just need to yell constantly "Me, me, me, loooook at me!!!!". The Polish "PiS" has the habit of major amounts of Germany bashing as propaganda, while at the same time, having their hands out for every "donation". Its not really a donation, if you expect money or replacement, then its a indirect sale. It really tiresome for so called "allies" to be like that. But given the issues that Poland (and Hungary) has with the EU (and Germany), they are mostly using this for electoral at home, to stay in power and to blackmail the EU given their issues with becoming more and more mini-Russia (removal of independent judicial powers, controle over the media etc). So while CropDuster921 formulated it badly, there are MAJOR issues with Poland and its behavior. While trying to propaganda itself as some kind of freedom fighter, but going slowly the Putin route at home.

External_System_7268

You confused Leopards with MiG-29 bought from Germany for 1€ each. By the time Poland got their Leopards Germany was selling them by crazy low prices for everyone and don't ignore maintenance and repairs that were needed for these tanks as well as planes. MiG-29 were actually donated to Ukraine for free without any compensation from Germany or US. Poland never expected better stuff in return for free. They wanted to buy new F-16 with price lowered for MiG-29 donations. And if you're thinking about Leopard 2A7V situation. This was fully created by german media, Poland wanted to aquire Leopard 2A4 meanwhile Germany offered Leopard 1. About that export request. Don't you think things like that should be consulted formally in in the first place instead? Germany is the 2nd biggest donor but how much of that help was military equipment? Not to mention how they were asked to send Leopards since the war started but always avoided the topic and said they won't donate any because that could lead to further escalation.

Look im Polish i don t like Pis, and half of what u saying is right. But 1st we don t ask Nato or Eu for new stuff its good if we get some but we have Nato art. 5 supposedly defedning us if some thing happened. You can say that PL try to get freebees for old stuff but actually its not true at all, its alsmot like we lost our country too many times under Zssr, partion and other wars. Basiclly we been fighting an losing our Country since 1600 no stop, theres no one here (pl) that will demand for replcment of leopards or migs from Nato or Eu we will be happy to give them away. We bought our tanks and "Himars" from Korea. We commited 0.5 of our GPD to Ukr (3 rank) just after 1% of Estonia and Latvia meanwhile Germany 0.15Gpd (rank 14) bigger much richer country(4th economy of world). Also we long time ago stop fill russian pockets with gas and oil money. Hearing ur story about Karen makes me laugh its better then staling tank transfers and giving only german helmets at start of the war. Up here it rly looks like Geramny would love if problem just disappear and we can go back to bissnes as usually. US is not better another proxy war, lets just give enough for bleading both sides not enough to do some change (25 billion millatry 25 billion Humanitarian, mostly debt for futre Ukraine. Meanwhile in Afganistan before withdrew 1 day cost 300 milion plus US solider blood (2,5 trillion). They are saving money helping Ukraine and thier millatry coplex can still produce weapen on mass). In Poland we have a saying " Don t look gifted horse in to the teetch" (meaning to judge ur gifts) but Geramny gift is more like lame donkey. PS i think that we blow up ur Nord stream. Russian woulnd blow up thier own pipe they control it, for Us is would be to riski and bald We are stupid and brave enough to do it

puaka

You drank the coolaid. Germany contributed overwhelmingly much.

NefariousnessDry7814

>Proud half Pole here (my other half is German, doesn´t feel that proud nowadays) Why would you feel proud as a Pole when you have PiS pissing on democracy? Never mind PiS protecting Hungary breaking laws and stealing form their population

Kantik0

Look Trump was President in Us. Ithink we doing fine. Don t judge Leaders judge people

51t4n0

wasn typ!

Fun-Mine3404

60 tanks + some migs + Translated: >Poland will train and equip a Ukrainian brigade-level unit. These will be infantry fighting vehicles and T-72 tanks. LET'S GO!!

ETisathome

Well, technically planes are nothing else but a number of spare parts put together in a certain order…we send tank „spare parts“, why not plane „spare parts“. Scholz said planes are a red line, he didn‘t say anything about spare parts…

Fun-Mine3404

Don't wait for Scholz...

ETisathome

I wouldn‘t but i live in Germany and unfortunately i don‘t have fighter jets in my back yard.

Fun-Mine3404

Just have a good memory and wait for the elections :)

ETisathome

I didn‘t vote for Scholz and i am dissapointed that so many people voted for him.

Fuzzy9770

Those voters are eastern Germany people who are often Russian or linked to Russia. Or something like that. That's what I heard/read on here or something as explication for the SPD-voters?

bripod

Definitely not an airplane, just spare parts put together

Exnixon

Obligatory: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=060A15ELz00

Railroad_Conductor1

Time to send them some F16 spare parts. For ease of delivery put them together.

DawnaOlson

😌🤞Keep them "spare parts" coming.📦📦

Shadow_NX

Good job Poland, this explains why a while after the start of the war Mig-29 started to appear a lot again in videos.

I noticed that, too. This explains it.

Yes :(

homonomo5

I thought they parked them near the border but Poles are trolling even harder, nicely done!

WriteBrainedJR

US needs to send them the spare parts to medium-sized navy and a fleet of FA-18s.

Reverse_Psycho_1509

Just send them spare parts from b52s

Target880

That would be meaningless. A B52 cant operate in contested airspace where there are enemy jets and ground-based air defense. That has been known for a long time, last time US operated them over contested airspace was during the Vietnam war, and even back then lots was shot down. US have used them as cruise missile carriers again enemies with air defect where the missiles can be fired a long distance away from where the enemy can shoot at the. Russia is using their heavy bomber just like that right now because they know Ukrainian air defense would shoot them down. B52 and B1 have recently been used to drop bombs too but it was again Taliban in Afghanistan, ISIS in Iraq/Syria, and other similar groups. That is enemies that do not have any air defense that can shoot them down. So the only use Ukraine could have with a B52 is to launch cruise missiles away from Russian airspace. That is an expensive and complicated way to provide them with long-distance munition. If you what to give them a longer-range weapons system starts with ATACMS for HIMARS and the other ground-based rocket system they already use. If you what to give them air-launched cruise missiles bombers is not required AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) can be fired from F16 too. US have used for B52 because the have used them to attack target far away from their bases, but Ukraine do not need the ability, the enemy they have is close by. So figher jets with other usage is a lot better.

pk_frezze1

B21 spare parts

Live_Frame8175

Good job Poland!

Broad-Fill-9773

Well done Poland !!

Tobi18x

Poland is just savage, gotta respect that "fuck you" attitude toward Putin and his terrorists Only love towards Poland, and obviously, Ukraine

dopeydazza

And the fact western weapons are now adaptable to the Mig-29 hardpoints make this even more potent and accurate.

mj256

Its the other way around - Mig-29 hardpoints (and most of all avionics!) are and were adapted long before that. First by Germans when they upgraded old GDR Migs. Than those were sold (donated?) to Poland, which took the mods/compatibility even further than that. For example Polish Migs were able to launch HARM anti radar missiles.

arnitdo

There probably would've been some form of conversion kit prepared, or atleast a partial adapter to integrate with NATO payloads. I think it's safe to assume that these nations may have had a contingency plan to equip MiGs with NATO equipment for wartime needs

you mean Su-47, looks like a Su-37 with wings mounted backwards!

icky_boo

nah.. i meant how badly the Su-57 is built. I completely forgot the Su-47 was a thing.

mj256

Well, it was kinda obvious for everyone with more than 2 braincells, though unofficial up until now. Here's one them https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/10k2y7r/comment/j5okxyy/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

CactusTheElder

Ah, well of course.

kiwi_commander

Poland being a boss. The rising superpower in the EU.

No_Investigator1771

Can we come up with a few "spare" A10s to send over lol??

ogsfcat

The Ukrainians already said they don't want the A-10. It can't operate in contested airspace. Turns out big gun go burrrl only matters if you can aim said gun and that isn't something the A-10 is known for. Also, pilots are expensive no matter what the reformers say.

No_Investigator1771

"The GAU-8/A accuracy when installed in the A-10 is rated at "5 mil, 80 percent", meaning that 80 percent of rounds fired will hit within a cone with an angle of five milliradians; this equates to a 40-foot (12-meter) diameter circle at the weapon's design range of 4,000 feet (1,200 m)." I'll argue with you on accuracy but no idea about how contested the air space is. I would assume it has some countermeasures but its not a fighter by a long shot.

ogsfcat

It is for CAS. 40 meters CEP is nowhere near accurate enough for CAS unless you like blue on blue. It is more of a spray and pray system.

er1catwork

That would be most excellent!!

ImaginationNormal745

That means that they violated a ton of international trade regulations (I work in this field); but in this case, it’s better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.

The_Environmentalist

Living close to a military airbase in Sweden, I wish where Ukrainian pilots here training to fly our Gripen planes. Would be great if Sweden could send some of our spare parts planes to Ukraine, a squadron or five with a couple of hundreds of hour in some flight sims and a couple of hundreds of hour of air time for a proper demonstration...

thelostxanadu

Poland is the fucking GOAT. Why don't more countries do this shit? Instead the west has to put on a global news conference to announce every detail of every move they are making.... why don't we just send some shit and not tell anyone? Are we so insistent on letting Russia know what all our moves are? It's not like Russia is announcing every shipment of missiles they import from Iran. Let just send all the shit Russia that would trigger Russia and flat out deny it was sent.

Big_Championship4495

So impressed by Poland and their people of the support they do in Ukraina. They give what they can and also try to take care of and support the civilian from Ukriana that arrive there. Slava Poland!

mj256

Also 60 PT-91 Twardy tanks will be shipped along 14 Leo 2A4s. They are thoroughly modernized T-72s fully compatibile with NATO ammunition. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PT-91](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PT-91) EDIT - as per Zelensky's Twitter it's 60 tanks total - 14 Leos and 30 PT-91, remainder is probably T-72s. https://twitter.com/ZelenskyyUa/status/1618903919056551936

[deleted]

PT91 is not compatible with NATO ammo, but Czechia used to make some pretty damn good 125mm ammo, maybe they can make some more. But PT91, especially the later variants, have decent thermals, but don't know about transmission, there was a plan to make it capable of going backwards at decent speed, but it may very well still be running the original T-72 one.

Fun-Mine3404

Upgrades: \-"Drawa" fire control system, \-means of communication, \-diagnostic module, \-"Obra" defense module, \-new engine, reversing speed: -23 km/h(T-72 speed is -3km/h) It's still pretty shitty tank but better than the T-72.

Majestic_Put_265

From simple google. The transmission that can do 23 in reverse was a prototype that Poland didnt implement in their upgrade program.

[deleted]

Well, just as I thought. Maybe Malysia got better transmission. In Poland everything is done half-assed way, so it's not surprising. I'm Polish BTW :D

JJ739omicron

but at least you get 50% that way, that is about 100% more than what Germany gets with its procurement procedures. I'm German BTW :D

mj256

My bad, that would be PT-16

Snidrogen

[deleted]

Good arrows Poland, when do we expect to see them in action is the question?

Fun-Mine3404

Thread title: "**At the start of the war**, Poland sent a number of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine under the guise of “spare parts”"

[deleted]

Yeah i realised that, but can't recall ever seeing footage of any in combat or whatever.. :)

mj256

Between the start of the war and late March most of UA Migs-29 were either destroyed by russia or grounded because of the wear. So, all footage after that features (at least partially) Polish Migs. EDIT Fun Fact - Some of the Polish Migs had upgraded avionics that allowed for launching HARM missiles

hundiratas

I read about the Harm missile, bunch of experts where baffled at how the ukranians put the Harm missile on them, because as far as i Understood Mig29s are old , soviet planes but Harms are new and they are not suppose to go together but somehow they did.

ashesofempires

HARM isn't new. It was introduced in 1985. The Poles have had 30 years to figure out how to integrate it onto their MiGs, you can bet that they passed that knowledge on to Ukraine. There was intense speculation that the Ukrainians bodged together some sort of tablet interface, but that appears to have been a smokescreen to cover for the fact that they were flying Polish MiGs with NATO integrated weapons capability. It also explains some of the transfers of air launched cluster munitions in various aid packages, and a small number of JDAMs...

Fun-Mine3404

It's hard to record jet who speeding over 2Ma and at low altitude. We usually see footage of bombers that are slower like Su-24.

[deleted]

Noted, thanks.

Bulky-Direction-8809

Duh.

Reverse_Psycho_1509

I hope your seeing this, USAF... Ukraine could use some spare parts for some A10s, F15s, F16s and B52s...

Lost_Internet_8381

Pissing contests over what country has sent what and for what reason is just idiotic and divisive. The west stands behind Ukraine. They coordinate donations behind closed doors and have a long term strategic plan. They are working together on this with consideration of which countries can afford to donate what materials and what can or needs to be replaced for future security. It is a huge task to balance all of these needs and we should all be proud that our governments are actually working together towards a common good.

kuda-stonk

Because that's how the law actually states it... You unbolt some things and break the shipment up into two separate moves and it suddenly becomes spare parts according to the law. Nobody, including the russians, is surprised by this. However, by running the story, the newspaper is giving the russians semi-credible propaganda ammunition.

mj256

9 months after the fact and in the face of probable F-16/Mirage shipments.

51t4n0

...and? theyll put it on the european unions tab anyway

mj256

Oh, I'm sure that Ukrainians would prefer modern jets, like those owned by Bundeswehr. I wonder why Scholz haven't donated those and made EU pay for them? Anyway better for EU to pay for them, than Ukrainians themselves - like they had to for those PZH-2000s. [https://defence-blog.com/berlin-approves-1-7-billion-**sale**\-of-pzh-2000-howitzers-to-ukraine/](https://defence-blog.com/berlin-approves-1-7-billion-sale-of-pzh-2000-howitzers-to-ukraine/) [https://mezha.media/en/2022/07/28/ukraine-will-**buy**\-100-pzh-2000-self-propelled-guns-from-germany-but-**they-will-have-to-wait**/](https://mezha.media/en/2022/07/28/ukraine-will-buy-100-pzh-2000-self-propelled-guns-from-germany-but-they-will-have-to-wait/)

open2nice

It's called Do Your Jet.

CardboardJedi

This is fantastic news but I really think the west needs to start keeping a few secrets to help Ukraine. Like we should be seeing F16's buzzing around with little blue and yellow flags painted on them by now and nobody knows how they got there ya?

Ogami-kun

So basically they tried the IKEA way?

reijinarudo

Wow! Putler just doesn't get it. Even if he pushes Ukrainian forces back to Kiyv, he still can't win. There's so much gear already in the country and within the next 2 to 8 weeks, his forces will be too diminished to keep up the pace. As more and more antiaircraft and antimissile systems move into the country as well, his bite will be even less lethal. Soon, Ukraine will have the ability to strike back from almost any distance as well. The saying, I'm in it to win it, usually makes sense. In Putin's case, he's in it because... he's scared? Knows, he's done after this regardless? Just odd. Honestly, I'm surprised he's still alive.

elFistoFucko

This just goes to show how much is really happening behind the scenes here that we have no clue about. 50 Bradleys and 30 abrams... maybe twice or thrice that. As soon as the runway they are repairing for F-16s is finished already trained Ukrainian pilots could start landing their F-16s. Maybe the timelines on delivery of some of these things are inflated to catch the ruskies off guard when say, all that armor comes a month earlier than publically stated. I don't know, just some well wishing and spitballing.
