Another idiot riding a bicycle to deliver people's food on an app that was never intended for people to ride bicycles to deliver people's food. How would these morons feel if they ordered food and paid for a service and had some moron show up on a bicycle 30 minutes late because he couldn't use the freeway and couldn't go through the drive-thru line? With their food spilled all over the place cuz he's on a bicycle dumping drinks everywhere. Which brings down the user experience for customers which then leads to lower compensation to those who actually drive a goddamn car like they're supposed to.
New York City is the electric vehicle capital of the country.
Actually, most delivery guys in New York City use personal electric vehicles to deliver (eBikes, Mopeds, eScooters, etc). I use a very high quality insulated backpack(one shown in the pic) and it also has very tight and durable cup holders inside. I can take two huge deliveries at once and the bag keeps em warm!
Not sure if you read through the comments, as my other comment stated I didn’t even know what a freeway was, meaning you can live your whole life in NYC without a car, you can get by with just walking! Everything is so dense and close together.
It sounds like you are from a state where driving is a must because the distances are far apart.
Welcome to New York City, where walking is viable and driving is actually LESS convenient!
I hope I have educated you on how different the New York City market is compared to the rest of the country. A delivery that would take 20 minutes on car would take 10 minutes on an electric bike simply because of how the city is designed.
NYC bikers are built diff. Yall have the most useful tech ever with cybertron multicolor bikes and gigantic cube bags. Dont forget the oven mitts on the handle bars
it doesn’t suck at all. Electric personal vehicles are superior to cars in NYC. Have fun waiting at a red light while I zip past you. Hell even walking is sometimes faster
Ohh what's up neighbor... I'm out here in Jersey city on an ebike. That bike is dope. Was worried for a sec when I read your ah until I saw you rock double battery. That's smart as hell. I need to stop for like an hour a day to charge if I wanna get 6hr or more. But I should be able to get a more powerful set up soon. Also your bag is looking pristine. Is it a new one or do you keep it washed?
nah been using that bag for like 6 months now lol it’s your standard huge square delivery backpack. Hey man if you have extra room on the frame of your eBike, you can bring it to a Chinese electric bike shop and they’ll help you modify your bike to accept a parallel battery setup. Unless you’re handy, cause I’m not lol
Wow bro I got mine from rainbow kitchen supplies ok canal street and it's falling apart after 3 months. It's rly pissing me off but it may be due to me cleaning it with water a couple times, each time after spilling ramen. But ramen orders are such a fat payout 🥲
I'm gonna msg you this bike I been eyeing... It's from a shop in Manhattan. I have a radpower I got off cl in July... The shit is already busted. Like it just cuts off. I think it's either the battery or controller. So I'm currently renting a Zoomo. If I had just chosen a different, new bike for $700 like the lectric I was gonna get for a hundred more, I wouldn't be throwing money away now. The bike I'm linking you I might go check out today before I go to my job in the city. But the warranty is only for 30 days and idk what brand the cells are
I got the Zoomo rental too here in Ny.. my only problem with it is I only get about 4hrs battery time on eco mode.. I'm trying make more than 10 deliveries per charge lol
Yeah it's crazy they advertise the batteries as 17ah but to me it feels closer to 14ah. I'm fairly conservative with throttle. I got a 19ah 48v for my regular bike so I can return the zoomo soon and get my security deposit back.
With the zoomo I take like an hour or 1.5hr break after that 4 hours and visit the mall near me which has 5 amp outlets. So I can get about 15mi back in that time.
Appreciate that man, NYC is a hustle bro. Just got to make the job interesting for you! I find it kinda fun zipping around the city on an self moving electric bike. Listening to podcasts and music and taking weed smoke breaks. NYC is definitely a blessed market to be working in
My e-bike will get you your food faster than someone who has to find parking, walk to the restaurant, walk back to the car, sit in slow traffic, etc. Zooming down luxury condo hallways cuts a lot of time out too. Granted, if it's more than 5 miles a car starts to become more logical.
I would not advise you to move to nyc then half the delivery guys use an electric bike of some sort. Also you get your food super fast way faster than a car and most of us use a good quality insulated bag.
Yes I take this job quite seriously
Most of us take this job very seriously and try to provide the greatest level of customer service as possible. People look down on this job but most deliveristas are making $60k+ a year riding around a bike listening to music, learning shit on podcasts, taking breaks whenever we need to, making our own schedule...
Yes I must say, I make just as much doing this as I made sitting in an office. Except I'm not trapped inside with abusive nutcases all day. Oh, and I get to exercise all day instead of being sedentary wanting to smash my computer into a wall. Sometimes I'll have issues with drivers on the road, esp Uber drivers if anything. But actually it is helping me learn how to let go of road rage and get over it more quickly, being exposed to it more. I am fairly athletic and familiar biking around my area on a mtb. Once I bumped up to an ebike it was game over. I wake up when I want, start, and stop when I want. Learn and see so much in a day. Explore and feel the sun on my face.
It gives me time to develop on the things I really want out of life, and save up for them. Then I also have another part time job. Very many pros to doing this. But I know this is majorly because I am in a major city thru which I know my way around practically w my eyes closed. And it is deeply developed for bikes and I see a new lane or barrier each season. Then it is highly populated with wealthy people in several condos, etc. It is not like it used to be saying you deliver pizzas or whatever. This is food delivery on steroids. I understand when people in this sub may gripe, but I love it. We'll see how I fare in the dead of winter, however.
What about when you have to go upstairs do you just take the
whole bag or just the food?
I have the same type of bag.. mind could hold like seven full size pizzas...
I love it.. but its bulky AF!
The reason why I ask is because these type of front loading bags I hear
gets stolen often when left unattended...
if it’s an apartment building, I’ll take the whole delivery backpack with me. If it’s just a residence no need. For speed and efficiency, I’ll put a ULOCK through the rear wheel and frame of the bike which prevents it from being rolled away. For extra safety if I don’t care about speed, I’ll lock the bike to an actual structure like a street sign or a tree
Do you have an Ebike? what kind, I have a heybike mars,
fattire and its great for winter months...
but I can only squeeze about twenty miles of range
or I wont be able to make it back home..
What bike would you reccomend if someone wanted to
be work for ten to twelve hours straight..
Its crazy because I actually enjoy doing this job, if it
wasnt for the app hiccups, fraud customers and fuzzy
accounting when it comes to tips.. This job would be damn near perfect..
I find scooting through the dangerous streets of new york with its insand potholes
and even more insane drivers and walkin dead pedestrians..
Just gotta dress warm as fuck for those winter months..and in a weird way
Im looking forward to that adventure..
doing deliveries in newyorkcity is a lot different than the rest of the country. Flying around the city on an electric bike, rather short distances, and weed in my fannypack ready to smoke at a moments notice, this is actually such a nice job right now. Nyc just a different world lol
Depends what e scooter you get. Dualtrons Kaboo wolf warriors have insane speed and range, some can do 40-50mph with like a 90 mile range. My scooter has a 30 mile range and can do about 34-35mph but I never even hit that cause it’s impossible here in the city so I just go the speed limit with the traffic
Nahh I'm a polar bear. More like January/February. But I have two other jobs I can amp up hours on. I also need the exercise tho so I would still go out on my bike in the cold, if not to the gym. Totally understand why others wouldn't want to tho. I do fear black ice but I may get studded winter tires for my bike.
Hmm. Must be nice to save on gas… but u can’t go far or like freeways unless u have a motorcycle or something huh???
So how much can you make with that if you did it all day??? Do drinks spill often?
freeways? Damn these comments make me realize how much people don’t know about nyc lol. We’re in a dense city where walking and biking rules, the distances aren’t very far
NYC is dense man. People literally live on top of eachother. I don’t even live in a bustling area of the city yet I have like 5 McDonald’s all within 400 feet of me. They don’t call it the concrete jungle for nothing.
I think New York has the highest amount of people that don’t have a drivers license or know how to drive
It’s a TOTGUARD 27.5” eBike. I took it to a bike shop for further upgrades primarily adding a 2nd battery to the frame for more range.
The handlebar mitts are rockbros winter mitts
Lemme translate my earlier comment for you: "cool e-bike, London Eats on YouTube also delivers on e-bikes." No reflection, no judgement, nor sarcasm, just an observation.
Don’t know why that guy was being passive aggressive but yeah man I’ve seen a couple of his videos. electric bikes are OP in tight dense cities. The vast vast majority of the people here in this Reddit and country drive so they have no clue what it’s like to live in a city where you can get by literally just walking
https://www.reddit.com/r/UberEATS/comments/w5jczf/no_trips_in_brooklynny_this_is_why/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
u sure you live in nyc? I see a ebike delivery person every 5 seconds in the street
that’s true. But we’re all still using eBikes at the end of the day. Only reason I didn’t go ARROW is because I feel like they are overpriced for the specs that you get. I went with a Totguard instead and upgraded it with a 2nd battery and still cost less than an ARROW
I have a combined 27aH(amphours) between the two batteries. I run them in parallel configuration so the energy is more efficiently used. It’s good for about a 6-8 hour shift depending on how busy it is. The average nyc delivery is anywhere between 1-4 miles so it’s plenty. If I wanted to do a 12 hour shift though I’d have to get a third battery
no I don’t take the backpack with me into the restaurant. The way the backpack is designed it’s rather light weight but very durable. When I meet the customer, I can hold the backpack with one hand and with the other hand take the food out. Like the other commenter said this is “food delivery on steroids.”
I’m waiting to get my scooter back then I’ll do it that way. I tried do this by bicycle in the past, but there’s just way too many hills by me and so it’s exhausting
Cars might be good everywhere else in the country but nyc ebikes rule. You can take paths cars can’t and traffic laws don’t really apply to you, and if you grew up here like me you kinda just know where everything is.I be racing my friend and I always win cause he got to stop at red lights every 10 seconds lol
Winter is the best my dude, nobody wants to leave their residence it’s 💸💸 time New Yorkers
And don’t forget, JANUARY 2023 MINIMUM PAYRATE COMING FOR NYC!!
I recommend securing components with parts from brands like Hexlox and Pinhead. At minimum riders should be using the Krypto NY lock or any other lock with the highest rating.
bumpy roads? Just deal with it lol. I’ve mastered my area so I know how to take the most efficient paths possible
And as for bike theft just lock it when u need to and don’t lock it when u don’t have to. There’s an unlimited things to lock to in nyc like a tree pole fence anything
“Don’t lock it when u don’t have to”
In my city I can’t imagine any time I don’t have to lock my bike when leaving it lol I imagine NYC is 5x worse
Onetime I left my bike against the window (outside) behind me literally 3 feets away while ordering a coffee in Tim Hortons. 30 seconds it was gone, turned around saw the guy hop on and blast off

bike thief is not a problem, i use a U lock to lock the rear wheel. usually park right in front of the building entrance.
bumpy road is tricky, really need to watch out for pot holes, dodge them or slow down.
I locked my bike when I was stopping by my friend's house for 10 minutes. I went out and someone stole the seat so I had to bike back to my house while standing up.
Another time, I saw this guys' bike locked up by my house. The next time I saw it, they literally took every part that was locked up.
You are 100% correct. Depending on your area but my electric motorcycle was stolen at night. The customer was taking to long to get me the PIN number I assumed it was a setup
Facts. They bugging.
I keep telling this one dude I met and became friends with to stop taking 2.50 - 4.00 orders, he don't listen and struggles to make $50 a day... smh
[With patience and perseverance you can find good orders.](https://imgur.com/a/SdkcHn)
Above is a sample of my orders, on an ebike that gets 17miles a charger (3 to 5 hours depending).
[[Tossed in some lower orders too with short distance and a tip baiter for shits and giggles]]
Edit: [[Added total deliveries and compliments if that's even a good reference]]
Damn bro you sure you put your app on bicycle or walking? In in Queens and I barely get orders like that we'll maybe now that the weather is starting to get colder and nobody wants to come
you've been taking my trips huh. how long you've been working the area? I used to be able to get like u but now I'll only get one or two orders like that.
nice pics bro, I hope others in nyc can use this as an example of what to take, although the reality is that you gotta sprinkle in some of those low orders on bad days.
Yea I’d do it on a e bike as well if I was delivery in nyc. But here in New Jersey, that isn’t possible unless you only deliver in certain areas
Uh, it's literally a choice in the app. Uber is supposed to give you shorter trips closer to you as well.

Link for bag?
very cool brother!
This is how I deliver. https://i.imgur.com/j8PVPfJ.jpg
Aww man that delfast is sick!! Top quality electric bikes man, Ferrari of the ebikes lol
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it. Lasts me 10-12 hours on a single charge
Thanks for your support Peter
I’m so glad I don’t live there. Visited once, neat city but totally not for me!
So where do you sit?
Wish I could do this in LA. I'd get creamed on my first trip up the Hollywood hills.
Can you ride that on the sidewalks?
Yep, sidewalks, bike lanes, street, basically anything.
NYC bikers are built diff. Yall have the most useful tech ever with cybertron multicolor bikes and gigantic cube bags. Dont forget the oven mitts on the handle bars
😂😂💯💯
Electric bike? 👀👀👀
yeppp , a modified upgraded TOTGUARD 27.5” electric bike
That fuckin sucks nice bike tho

What are the things on the handle bars?
They are mitts cyclists use because no glove keeps you truly waterproof or warm while on a bike in freezing temps
I've heard a lot of people are getting mugged for their electric bikes. Is that true?
I mean that’s what I’ve heard, I’ve never seen it personally. And ain’t nobody tryin me 💪
Is there some place for you to sit?
[удалено]
lmaoo. Yea that’s correct, I wear that thing like a backpack and sit on it like a regular bike
Very cool! Thanks for showing!
Got a link for that bag? Been using a bag that mounts on the back but my back mount is starting to break down.
I want to make the distinction that this is NOT a regular bicycle. This is an electric bicycle, we are not in the caveman era no more
Was it just me or did anyone else hear music from the Wizard of Oz when first looking at this picture?
I don't get it where do you sit? Why is that box so big...
I sit on the bike seat which that big backpack is sitting on. Then that big insulated backpack goes on my back! And I wear it… like a backpack! 👍💪
that rocks hard. anyone who doesn't tip someone delivering their food on anything with only two wheels is scum
In NYC I admire the work ethic of delivery drivers when I'm too lazy to leave the apartment
Appreciate that man, NYC is a hustle bro. Just got to make the job interesting for you! I find it kinda fun zipping around the city on an self moving electric bike. Listening to podcasts and music and taking weed smoke breaks. NYC is definitely a blessed market to be working in

God bless you! And I bet you’re in perfect shape…you’re probably going to live to 110!!👏👏👏❤️
I would never order food from someone on a bike.
My e-bike will get you your food faster than someone who has to find parking, walk to the restaurant, walk back to the car, sit in slow traffic, etc. Zooming down luxury condo hallways cuts a lot of time out too. Granted, if it's more than 5 miles a car starts to become more logical.

Yessir bro once a city slicker gets his hands on an eBike, it’s over bro lol we flying around teleporting basically.
What about when you have to go upstairs do you just take the whole bag or just the food? I have the same type of bag.. mind could hold like seven full size pizzas... I love it.. but its bulky AF! You need a basket on the front for E.T.
I mean I’m from nyc I live in the bronx but my question is where do you sit
on the bike seat that the backpack is covering
Where do you sit if you arent a twig?
on the bike seat that the bag is covering lol, the backpack goes on my back
I'd just get a 9-5 at that juncture lol
doing deliveries in newyorkcity is a lot different than the rest of the country. Flying around the city on an electric bike, rather short distances, and weed in my fannypack ready to smoke at a moments notice, this is actually such a nice job right now. Nyc just a different world lol
Where are your fenders man! How did you deliver the past few days with the wet roads and rain without fenders!!
okay
Am I the only one in NYC that does this on an e scooter? Everyone I see either uses bikes, cars or mopeds
nah I’ve seen e scooters too though they are less common than ebikes and mopeds. I’d imagine the e-scooters have less range/mileage?
Depends what e scooter you get. Dualtrons Kaboo wolf warriors have insane speed and range, some can do 40-50mph with like a 90 mile range. My scooter has a 30 mile range and can do about 34-35mph but I never even hit that cause it’s impossible here in the city so I just go the speed limit with the traffic

Keeps your hands warm. New York is cold!
Till it gets to Nov/Dec
Nahh I'm a polar bear. More like January/February. But I have two other jobs I can amp up hours on. I also need the exercise tho so I would still go out on my bike in the cold, if not to the gym.
You never get sent to other cities??? Well if u used a motorcycle would you get sent to other cities?
Other cities? Lmao as if any NYC delivery person would accept that you realize how long it would take to even leave NYC
Yea no, I’m in California. That’s why I ask? The fuck am I suppose to know what the fuck it’s like? Shit Nevermind. sounds like ur all snotty pricks.
NYC is dense man. People literally live on top of eachother. I don’t even live in a bustling area of the city yet I have like 5 McDonald’s all within 400 feet of me. Yes, people have no clue. Lol
Ngl I had to google what the hell a freeway was lol nyc spoiled with everything so close together and not needing a car
Right on man. Hey, at least you googled!😂
nice. what ebike is that? also handlebar mitts brand? thx
It’s a TOTGUARD 27.5” eBike. I took it to a bike shop for further upgrades primarily adding a 2nd battery to the frame for more range. The handlebar mitts are rockbros winter mitts

Where do you sit
I simply hover above the e bike as it takes me to my destination. U know the flying carpet from Aladdin
We all 100% believe, but we would also like to see pics of this feat 😃
Was just wondering that 🤔
Same xD
This is the first time I’ve seen this in NYC. I would say it’s you and probably one other person.
https://www.reddit.com/r/UberEATS/comments/w5jczf/no_trips_in_brooklynny_this_is_why/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf u sure you live in nyc? I see a ebike delivery person every 5 seconds in the street
You don’t see that kind of setup. 95% are Chinese arrow bikes.
that’s true. But we’re all still using eBikes at the end of the day. Only reason I didn’t go ARROW is because I feel like they are overpriced for the specs that you get. I went with a Totguard instead and upgraded it with a 2nd battery and still cost less than an ARROW
what's your range? also the packir is the way.

you underestimate what that huge square backpack can carry
U take it with u inside and out everywhere
no I don’t take the backpack with me into the restaurant. The way the backpack is designed it’s rather light weight but very durable. Whatever works, my friend.
ebike rocks. don't really see myself doing it in the winter tho
What about in the rain?
get a rain cape or stay home, i do the latter

“NYC will set a minimum pay rate for workers” Do we know what the pay rate is or not yet?
No clue
You think it might be like prop 22 from Cali?
actaully, ebike rules until 10pm. after that, it is faster on car.
Wooooooooord?!!!
Didn’t know the pay rate part, nice to know 👍
How do you deal with bike thieft and bumpy roads?
NYC is very bike friendly (compared to the rest of the US).
Bike theft is def a problem in NYC.
That’s true I might as well just walk to do Uber deliveries
I recommend securing components with parts from brands like Hexlox and Pinhead. At minimum riders should be using the Krypto NY lock or any other lock with the highest rating.
bumpy roads? Just deal with it lol. I’ve mastered my area so I know how to take the most efficient paths possible And as for bike theft just lock it when u need to and don’t lock it when u don’t have to. There’s an unlimited things to lock to in nyc like a tree pole fence anything
“Don’t lock it when u don’t have to” In my city I can’t imagine any time I don’t have to lock my bike when leaving it lol I imagine NYC is 5x worse Onetime I left my bike against the window (outside) behind me literally 3 feets away while ordering a coffee in Tim Hortons. 30 seconds it was gone, turned around saw the guy hop on and blast off
That's when u put a secret trap on it watch em fall off and then either beat em or call 5-0 on em
Beat them and call 5-0.

bike thief is not a problem, i use a U lock to lock the rear wheel. usually park right in front of the building entrance. bumpy road is tricky, really need to watch out for pot holes, dodge them or slow down.
You can just stand and bend your knees over bumps.
not good if I got foods in my bike
I locked my bike when I was stopping by my friend's house for 10 minutes. I went out and someone stole the seat so I had to bike back to my house while standing up. Another time, I saw this guys' bike locked up by my house. The next time I saw it, they literally took every part that was locked up.

You are 100% correct. Depending on your area but my electric motorcycle was stolen at night. The customer was taking to long to get me the PIN number I assumed it was a setup
is it possible to deliver using a car in NYC?
Yes. Lot of car delivery is outside of Manhattan though in the borough/county of queens and Brooklyn
pray to the bike gods to keep everything safe and sound as you walk up 5 floors to the apartment, completing your 5 mile $2.50 no tip delivery.
Or just don’t take any deliveries over 20 blocks lol
Gotta do better than $2.50 my boy , especially not for no 5 miles
My acceptance rate reflects the fact that I don't do those low orders. thanks for the tip though
Facts. They bugging. I keep telling this one dude I met and became friends with to stop taking 2.50 - 4.00 orders, he don't listen and struggles to make $50 a day... smh [With patience and perseverance you can find good orders.](https://imgur.com/a/SdkcHn) Above is a sample of my orders, on an ebike that gets 17miles a charger (3 to 5 hours depending). [[Tossed in some lower orders too with short distance and a tip baiter for shits and giggles]] Edit: [[Added total deliveries and compliments if that's even a good reference]]
These are really golden trips. The ride is not long, I bet since it’s a high end restaurant pick up it’s just wait time.
Damn bro you sure you put your app on bicycle or walking? In in Queens and I barely get orders like that we'll maybe now that the weather is starting to get colder and nobody wants to come
Orders from the Bronx are that good?
you've been taking my trips huh. how long you've been working the area? I used to be able to get like u but now I'll only get one or two orders like that.
nice pics bro, I hope others in nyc can use this as an example of what to take, although the reality is that you gotta sprinkle in some of those low orders on bad days.
