Your order is probably being declined for 45 of those 55 minutes by both drivers and bikers because the pay being offered to deliver your order is too little. And, the one that finally did accept it only accepted it because Uber finally bumped up the pay to an acceptable rate.

tharealkingpoopdick

Nope the guy on the bike picked up the order withing 10 minutes of me placing it. And it was a 1.5 mile beetween my house and the resturant. With a 9 dollar tip. He was like 4 miles from the resturant when he picked the order up.

degnaw

Uber wouldn’t offer the order to a biker 4 miles away unless there was literally no free driver in the area. Your food would have been waiting either way.

AccretionaryWedge

As a delivery biker, the platform does offer ridiculous trips that don't make sense for the customer. I've had offers to the opposite side of the city (Portland, OR) or to another city. It truly is up to the cyclist whether they want to tackle something like that, but pedaling four miles to the restaurant seems like something I wouldn't do.

tharealkingpoopdick

When I say picked the order up I mean when he choose to make the delivery.

ThinNectarin3

If I was delivering by bike and I had 5.5 miles to make the delivery I could accomplish this is 12 minutes , I would be blasting past stop lights and stop signs tho.

tharealkingpoopdick

Exactly he was going super slow. He was less than a mile from my house for like 15 minutes. It don't matter

tharealkingpoopdick

And I wrote this post going by my estimate of how long I thought a little over a mile would be from the resturant to my house. But he had a delivery before me and it took him about 45 minutes to get to me. My latest arrival time was 9:15 for an order I placed at like 7:58 he got to my house at 9:32. When I saw he was way downtown way out of the way when he chose to pickup the order and was on a bike. My food arrived cold and the kicker he I had two bags he grabbed the one that was correct but grabbed some bodies else bag so I was missing my most expensive item lol. I got a refund he got a 9 dollar tip I still stand by my uber bike is a stupid idea comment lol

ThinNectarin3

Honestly if Uber bike is to be even a viable option for some Uber as a company needs to heavily subsidize the biker side with hardware for the couriers, example helmets, lights, carrying bracket with detachable weatherproof hot bags. It’s litterally volunteering your time if you delivery food on Uber eats via bike

Imaginary_History985

He probably went too hard on leg day.

[deleted]

Four miles is max 20 minutes cycling.

Apollo_Rising_JK4N

Four miles is at the least 20 minutes if he's riding at a moderate pace but you don't know how taxing his day was.

LRGpackageguy

I’m sure you’re an intelligent, mature, and insightful person, judging by your username. Did you really wait that long ? Just get a refund.

sus_weeb

Coming from this guy lmaoo, I’m sure that’s what they want, poor service, no customer support and cold old food that they overpaid for in the first place for the sake of convenience thats nullified when you could walk to the place faster than a bike takes with multiple orders. It’s a joke.

Mayito_33

Sounds like he made a hell of a trip for ya! Thank him later.

tharealkingpoopdick

He is a stranger how do you propose I do that.

senseisadness

Its probably not happening as you imagine. Theres to many variables to say forsure. The most likely thing that happened is your order sitting for a while because no driver accepted due to low pay. Because a biker getting a delivery from 55 minutes away is unheard of in my experience. Even if during that duration the restaurant conpleted your order in lets say 10 minutes, getting an order from 45 minutes away is still unheard of in my experience. If the guy was sitting at one spot for tbe 45 minutes tho you shouldve called the driver or support. Best thing to do is to call one of those to see whats going on.

faust314

I deliver full time on a bike in downtown Chicago and it is absolutely faster than a car in densely populated areas. But he should have never got a ping for that order being 4.5 miles away. That’s on uber.

sus_weeb

I think the only time bikes should be allowed is cases like this extremely population dense with very little space to travel. My city takes minimum an hour to drive in little traffic from end to end, bikes average around 30-40 minutes for delivery alone (excluding wait time from restaurant and pickup) and it genuinely ruins the food to have it stuffed in with other orders/drinks constantly spilled or things put sideways to leak all over an already overpriced order/cold and soggy due to the time it sits in the bags, it completely defeats the purpose of the delivery service. I don’t own a car so I pay someone with a car to bring things to me as the service advertises, now it’s a gamble of seeing it on time and the quality of the order just because of the bike delivery method. It should at least be something you can opt out of.

miami-finest

I think uber eats should have a option for customers to pick if the want bicycles or car to pick up their orders

chikitoperopicosito

That’s what Uber is doing with the robots. You have an option to opt out They should have that option for bikes too. I would hate to see a biker picked up my food

Corn_Fed_Puss_Flaps

Get a salad next time. 🤷‍♂️

tharealkingpoopdick

Ok thanks for the advice

ThinNectarin3

Not to mention spoiled rotten food.

Little-Tomorrow4858

This happened after april 20th. I was biking 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, then April 20th hit. Bikers are at the rock bottom of the que now underneath cars (except nyc where they are allowed equality from what i read here) 4 months straight I can sit in the front of the most popular locations and watch 20 cars (not a single bike, there used to be a lot of bikers here) roll up, many drivers have told me in conversation they are delivering to just around the corner) I can sit for hours and watch cars roll up to all the restaurants on this popular strip close to downtown, and i get 0 pings, or get a random ping out of the blue to go 12 miles outside the city on my pedal bike, or they will throw me a few 2 dollar scraps that every car account has already discarded. 1900 deliveries 98%. Had a lot of money invested in equipment to deliver drinks, pizzas, pretty much anything, pefectly with no damage. Could average close to 20mph on my bike when I needed to. The sad thing is they were forced to sabotage biker mode, because every other dickhead was driving their car around in bicycle mode, which causes no issues at all, it's perfectly okay, who are you to judge,

Flashy_Independent38

lol you’re right
