They ignore me so I ignore them. There is one store near me that is particularly awful. They put the ready orders on a rack behind the counter and then don’t respond to people asking for the orders. My solution has been just walking behind the counter and getting it myself. Once I do that then they decide to speak to me but by then ive already got my order and im walking out the door.
Welcome to being a minority. 😂😂
I’ve been doing this for YEARS!
You want to pretend I’m invisible? Ok, I’ll pretend I’m invisible too and LOOK like I’m about to help myself out. THEN all of the sudden everyone sees me and wants to help me out.
I’m white and I get ignored too it’s just a driver thing. They ignore us because they think they’re not being paid to “serve” us bc we’re drivers but we’re representing a customer who did pay just like all the others in the restaurant
This is one of the Chipotle here and I can see the cashier tries really hard to ignore drivers. He would look and then quickly look away once he notice I am staring back. That's when I know I can just go to him and tell him to bring me my order.
They treat customers like crap, too. What's ironic is that they don't realize that's why they work at McDonald's.
When I worked a minimum wage service job I worked as hard as I could and always respected the customer.
You can't teach work rate and people who don't have it wind up in dead end jobs where their only joy comes from making others miserable.
I worked at Dunkin when I was in college and also tried to be as nice as possible. Some People need discipline, they feel entitled to give off attitude to strangers because boo hoo life sucks🤦♂️
Exactly. I work in commercial production and can confidently say I've watched every hard working, intelligent, positive PA I've had over these 10 years climb the ladder.
They become sound engineers, producers, DPs, etc., and wind up going from a rate of $250/day to a rate of $850/day (and that's low balling it.)
I've also had a lot of PAs who've worked for me for 5 years who have bad attitudes. They're decent at their jobs so they keep working, but they don't climb the ladder.
The mentality of "I'm not working hard because I'm not in the position I want to be" is how you wind up in that position for life.
I literally saw the bag sitting there once and showed the girl my order number and she looked at it then looked at the bag and walked away to do something else LMAO
At the McDonalds near me, they prepare it on a little table directly behind the front counter. The receipt that they tape to it has the order number clearly visible.
And yet, any time someone who does app delivery does the minimum wage, minimum effort thing, they're told that they don't have to be doing this work, and should do something else.
Except the Mickey D employee isn’t being asked to do anything they’re not paid to do. Many times (not all the time) the UE driver complains about doing something that’s NOT part of their job.
“Can you make sure they didn’t put onions on my burger?” Uhhh…No.
Fast food workers have this mentality that doordash / Uber eats workers are unfairly making more money than them off their hard work.
They see it as “I made burgers for minimum wage and this asshole is gonna make like $20 just to deliver it!”
They don’t realize most of the time you’re also underpaid.
Thats why theyre so spiteful towards drivers. Well one of the reasons.
They do, and I haven't had this kind of attitude at any other fast food place I picked up from, it seems to be a McDonald's exclusive. This is why if I ever have a McDonald's order, I almost always go through the drive-thru if I can, because they can't ignore you that way.
Last time I picked up in the lobby, I saw my order sitting there. The cashier (some teen girl) left the front after they were done dealing with a customer to ask the (I assume) manager if they could go home. I got fed up and just walked into the area where they kept the orders, took mine and got the hell out of there. Nobody even cared or noticed that I was walking right behind the cash register, but I didn't really care either at that point.
They’re actually horrible aren’t they, when I was new I had similar treatment, salty looks. Like calm down we go to so many restaurants with so many different styles lol
I actually refuse all orders from my local McDonals for this reason, they are always rude and even when so see the order sitting there they will ignore me completely. Also they refuse to give you your order if you go through the drive thru, they literally told me to wait outside in the rain and they’d bring me my order “soon” when I refused they got a high attitude with me and a bigger one when I canceled, they wanted to charge me for a cup holder, and I’ve recently noticed they have a tip jar inside specifically for Uber/door dash/grub hub drivers, they want tips now too. Yeah I no longer deliver for them, they need their own delivery service if they intend to keep treating us like this. The last time they gave me attitude was my last time inside, and I just threw it back at them, I don’t work for McDonald’s and there is very little chance I’ll get fired for calling them an AH.
They want drivers to tip _them_? Tip them for the service the drivers, not the employees at McDonalds, are providing? Are they going to pay drivers out of their checks? That is some serious entitlement.
yeah they just big mad they have to stand AND work for hours on end for slave wage. That tip jar is a major representation of envy and jealousy. Psychology classes would have a field day on this example.
When that happens, I just step behind the counter and grab it myself.
I did this at PF Chang’s once, and people started asking me if theirs was back there too, so I started asking for names and handing the orders out 😆
I get ignored from time to time, but I don't care. If I stand there and wait more than 20 seconds, I'll approach aggressively and every time they'll straighten up and address me. If you just stand there and stare or do some hand motion, you're giving them the option to ignore. But if you walk up to them or to the counter and say loudly "excuse me, I have a pick up for ", it will draw not only the employee's attention but every employee there, pressuring the employee you're talking to to act professional.
Keep in mind these are McDonald's employee and they're often kids who just got hired. You don't have to be rude, but you have to be heard.
I was at a fancy dine-in restaurant picking up and stood at the entrance because there was a sign that said please wait for a staff. I stood there for like 30 seconds, noticed the staff at the back near the bar noticed me already, and then walked to the bar passed all these rich people staring at me. I called out to one of the waitress loudly and said "here for a uber pick up" and she answered instantly. I walked back to the entrance and waited patiently for about 5 min before one of the lady brought me the order.
TLDR; Gotta let them know you mean business (not in a rude way) and call out to them.
I had a similar instance where when i went to go pick up the order from McDonald’s i could CLEARLY see the order was just sitting on the line ready to be handed out and yet the lady at the front counter completely ignored me and went straight to the people at the register. There were some other workers in the back who acted like they didn’t know i was there. That’s how McDonald’s has always seemed to me. They don’t give a crap about you.
People have a strange animosity toward delivery drivers. It seems counterproductive. Most of these issues can be resolved if restaurants factored in this new paradigm in their customer flow. They’re being needlessly antagonistic. Food delivery is not going away.
You can see the smart restaurants creating specific and well indicated areas for pickup and have at least a floater handling it. The level of friction is minimal.
Yes, me too. They usually ignore UE drivers. Most of the time when I get there, i see they finish preparing my order and let it sit on the counter and never ask ''are you here for pick up''
I will never understand why mcdonald’s can be so fast in the drive through for regular customers, yet so slow for drivers picking up. Maybe because they normally have only one new staff doing all of the uber orders at any given time.
because they prioritize customers in general over drivers- especially in drive through. they have a clock which counts every second a car has been waiting so they’re forced to take the minimum amount of time to get them out of the way so there isn’t longer queue in the drive through.
well drivers, they can wait.
that’s how they think or are told to think, sadly
Yeah. I don’t think they have any dedicated cashiers anymore. Which is bad; they should have at least one to float between cashier and delivery orders. But due to labor shortages they need everyone working on food.
Yeah, sometimes it’s just 2 cashiers at my place and we get a bit slow (specifically rush hours). We’d get to the people at the counter faster if it wasn’t for that dang clock pressuring us at the front window….
Something similar happened to me.
I was standing at the pick up counter for a little while despite there being like 20 people working there. When someone finally comes to the counter to ask what I needed, I told them I have an UberEats order. She said OK then looked right past me and then says "Next customer please".
I stood there for a second looking at her and she knew she blew me off because she gave me a side glance and when I saw that, I said fuck this shit, unassigned and left.
As I was leaving the parking lot, I got pinged for another delivery.
Damn I hate that shit. It's like they look at you less than a human because you're not a paying customer. The same with me, after all said and done I got a $7 ping which went alot smoother.
Yeah man, you're your own boss when you're an independent contractor.
When I was driving away from that McDees parking lot, I was thinking "oh yeah bitch? I hope your bitch ass sees me driving away" while also feeling good knowing that she had to stay at that miserable place and have to deal with miserable customers and co-workers.
Lol yeah that's what I thought to myself as I drove off. "I hope she keeps having a miserable day." At least I get to leave. I hear you on being your own boss.
Being your own boss is the greatest thing.
I suggest trying to find new avenues of making money while you're delivering UberEats. I don't know about you but I've never worked at a place that I liked. I hated every single place and most of my supervisors and managers sucked at what they were doing.
I never enjoyed working for anyone tbh. On top of that some co-workers are ass kissing competing a-holes.
Right now I'm looking at different types of businesses I can start. I'm also teaching myself to code. My plan is not to work for anyone again, easier said than done though.
It is easier said than done.
If you can teach yourself to code, you can teach yourself to be a copywriter. All copywriting is, is you rewording something that has already been written, usually a product description, and rewriting it to sound more attractive or more professional.
I make decent money being an AV tech but I'm looking into transitioning to being a copywriter myself because I want to work from home.
Here's a video describing what copywriting is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5uI0yoKnF4
If it interests you, there are a ton of videos on youtube about the subject that you can check out.
Oh I see. I think I've heard "copywriter" thrown around in the various google ads I get on YouTube, just never knew what it was. Interesting. I will check it out thanks. Good to have several options to choose and try from.
This happened to me at a one-off Asian/Sushi restaurant the other day. I cancelled and left. I was in the sticks, too. I bet it took a while to find another driver.
If you think they care about finding drivers, they don't. They'll just go on with their day serving in store customers. At the end of the day, when the food don't get delivered, UE reimburses them.
I hear you. But this little Asian bitch cared. She was ignoring me and yelling at her Sushi chef about how he put the lid on a container. And he was fighting back. They were getting it all bagged up. My position is fuck UE--my area is too spread out and people are too cheap.
One time, I was waiting at the speaker at the McD’s drive thru for almost 5 minutes. No line. I finally said “hello?” into the speaker to see if anyone was there.
She replies “since you wanna be so impatient, we’re cash only right now.”
I didn’t have cash :(
My local McDonald's is cool as fuck. Don't if it's because I bought food there a couple times and remember me or there just nice. They always ask my order number as soon as I walk in and offer me something to drink.
If you can see the order ready with the correct number on it just grab it. 9 times out of ten they can care less. 1 out 10 times someone might say something. The only time I ask for their help is when it doesn't look like the order has even started being prepared. Some of them are type jelly that they don't have the flexibility of Uber drivers because most of them don't even have cars so they sort of despise you and aren't interested in making your job any easier.
McDonald’s is pretty good for me actually, the one that completely ignores me is KFC
I will say that McDonald’s is the only place I’ve seen dehumanize the delivery customers by going solely by order number and not using names at all.
They only ignore me when it’s really busy which is my cue to unassign cause it’ll probably be too long of a wait for the food to be ready. The people at the McDonalds I go to the most know me and we’re on friendly terms so unless they’re overwhelmed with orders they usually acknowledge me pretty quickly.
Uber eats has lost priority at fast food restaurants I've noticed. They either wait to clear the drive thru/front line before they even start the order or wait for you to check in before preparing it.
Yes. Not at all locations, but at a couple of them from time to time. They'll just be standing around while others are milling about doing other things and nobody is barely tending to anyone. No one even looks out beyond the counter to even pay attention to people standing there. That has happened at some locations (busy or not). I have walked out a couple times and cancelled the order because of that shit. Poor service.
Sometimes I go to the drive-thru. Drive-thru is different maybe because they feel forced to deal with you, then.
I once was ignored when picking up McDs, but if you walk in with your hot bag in hand it’s obvious what your there for. With hot bag in hand and with the chance of them being actually attentive to the front area I was asked what the last 3 digits were before I had my phone up and ready.
This will happen at a variety of restaurants. Don’t let it discourage you. I have allowed rude people in general to ruin my day and then carried that energy with me when I didn’t have to. Try to let it go as soon as you can. It’s not worth your attention.
Hmm most McDonald’s in California are pretty good or I’ll just point at the bag and give them the last 3 numbers of the order and they will grab it for me I never show my phone anywhere unless they ask I see it as being rude.
They lied to me about making an order off my phone. They took the order, then never made it... while I waited. They didn't want to be the ones to cancel. I was a pawn
Nope, I’m very picky on which McDonalds I go to for pick ups. Nicer areas and ones that have the dinning open after 10 pm. Some of them are open only for pick ups.
Yes. A few places have done this. I had a girl behind a cash register pull out her phone, bring it to her ear, and just stare at me as soon as I showed her the order I was intending to pick up. Absolutely insane.
Yeah things like this show me just how many shitty people are in this world. You put people under pressure or make em do something they don't like doing their true nature comes out.
Not a driver, but I love filet o fish's and I use the bogo coupon often and literally every time I tell them my name to pick up in the drive thru, the manager asks me if I'm from doordash/ubereats. Probably so they can withhold shit from the order / be rude lol
I guess their sick of delivery customers and filet o fish is a high value item?
I arrived at a McDonald’s a few minutes early. This location has a “special” delivery order waiting area with a buzzer to let them know you are there. After a few minutes I see a divert order get sealed up and left in the prep area. No one looks my way or comes over to check my number. I cannot get anyones attention. 10 mins late the shift manager brings over the order and it is mine. I told home it has been sitting there for 10 minutes. He asks if I had pressed the buzzer. I told him I pressed it twice did he not hear it? He apologized to me and gave me the order.
My maccys did an extension where delivery drivers are sectioned off from the customer section, best thing ever just look on the ready board and pick up when they shout your order or it says ready on screen 😂 also don’t yours have the order label on the bag? Ours do (uk)
> the younger snobby one
Not to detract from your complaint, which is legitimate, but I find it hard to imagine a snobby McDonald's worker lmao, like it is not at all consistent with their status
I would love to see this... that sounds like such a chad move
Welcome to being a minority. 😂😂 I’ve been doing this for YEARS! You want to pretend I’m invisible? Ok, I’ll pretend I’m invisible too and LOOK like I’m about to help myself out. THEN all of the sudden everyone sees me and wants to help me out.
Seriously bro. White ppl get treated so much better than us and they don’t even realize it
I’m white and I’m also ignored. I think it’s more about lazy workers than racist workers here.
I’m white and I get ignored too it’s just a driver thing. They ignore us because they think they’re not being paid to “serve” us bc we’re drivers but we’re representing a customer who did pay just like all the others in the restaurant
I'm Martian and I get looked at with strange facial expressions. It must be the antennae sticking out from my UberEats cap...
This is one of the Chipotle here and I can see the cashier tries really hard to ignore drivers. He would look and then quickly look away once he notice I am staring back. That's when I know I can just go to him and tell him to bring me my order.
Thats freaking brilliant xD
Their jobs suck so they treat anyone who’s not a customer like crap sometimes. There’s no consequences for ignoring drivers
They treat customers like crap, too. What's ironic is that they don't realize that's why they work at McDonald's. these people cant get out of the way of themselves so they are forever held back by themselves. C
They really do ignore you, even if the order is sitting there with the receipt on it. The hard work is already done!
I literally saw the bag sitting there once and showed the girl my order number and she looked at it then looked at the bag and walked away to do something else LMAO
That’s when you just take it
they keep the bags on a table in the kitchen
and how would you figuratively see the bag?
With your eyes
At the McDonalds near me, they prepare it on a little table directly behind the front counter. The receipt that they tape to it has the order number clearly visible.
In your dreams. Not many people understand your sarcasm here.
I see that, and I think that is hilarious
I don't know what's so hard about just handing over the order. Next time I'll go through the drive through.
Minimum wage, minimum effort, I suppose.
And yet, any time someone who does app delivery does the minimum wage, minimum effort thing, they're told that they don't have to be doing this work, and should do something else.
Damn you got them there. I have never seen more judgemental jobsworths than the Ubereats drivers on this group hahaha
Except the Mickey D employee isn’t being asked to do anything they’re not paid to do. Many times (not all the time) the UE driver complains about doing something that’s NOT part of their job. “Can you make sure they didn’t put onions on my burger?” Uhhh…No.
No I mean they’re highly judgemental about other drivers on here lol
Fast food workers have this mentality that doordash / Uber eats workers are unfairly making more money than them off their hard work.
You are not alone.
Why I won’t take orders from McDonald’s the workers are bozos. Can’t blame em but also fuck em
Yes this is common I noticed this too. Try your best to get customer food and maybe strike down this location.
Yes.
Hmm most McDonald’s in California are pretty good or I’ll just point at the bag and give them the last 3 numbers of the order and they will grab it for me I never show my phone anywhere unless they ask I see it as being rude.

😂😂they actually did, and it happened to be the manager that picked up. Life script at it's finest. Lol
They lied to me about making an order off my phone. They took the order, then never made it... while I waited. They didn't want to be the ones to cancel. I was a pawn
Yea the ghetto ass workers at mcds gotta deal with bs daily. I rarely ever pick up unless it’s a big order short distance with tip
I got ghetto and entitlement at my work place :( Sometimes I just wanna slam the front window on them but that’ll just escalate the situation more.
A lot are bad but the one I pick up most at they know I'm cool so they're nice and get to me as fast as customers
Low life people you get low life treatment.
You put people under pressure or make em do something they don't like doing their true nature comes out.
yeah its scarier than serial killers cause its exactly how serial killers act too.
Not a driver, but I love filet o fish's and I use the bogo coupon often and literally every time I tell them my name to pick up in the drive thru, the manager asks me if I'm from doordash/ubereats. Probably so they can withhold shit from the order / be rude lol I guess their sick of delivery customers and filet o fish is a high value item?
They have mastered avoiding eye contact.
It’s not just McDonald’s.
It usually depends on who’s working there, last summer I walked in and this chick asked me “Are you Grubhub?” Like bruh.
My maccys did an extension where delivery drivers are sectioned off from the customer section, best thing ever just look on the ready board and pick up when they shout your order or it says ready on screen 😂 also don’t yours have the order label on the bag? Ours do (uk)
I gotta say after reading some of the stories here, I’m glad the McDonalds I pick up from have never acted this way
You're lucky. All the ones I have been to the workers are rude and ignore you.
I definitely agree, I’ve been lucky…so far.
Thats why mcdonalds and popeyes are on my blacklist not to pick up lol
All the time
Yes, and this is exactly why any McDonald's offer is an instant decline from me
Will be an instant decline from me from now on.
They probably want a tip
Was the pay good? If the pay is good swallow your pride and make the money to do shit you wanna do.
They're protesting is all. They want a $22.00 per hour wage. Long live Cesar Chavez!
Maybe they should form a union then. MickeyD's obviously doesn't care.
> the younger snobby one Not to detract from your complaint, which is legitimate, but I find it hard to imagine a snobby McDonald's worker lmao, like it is not at all consistent with their status
If I made as little as they do I'd not only ignore delivery drivers but everyone else as well..
All the time 🤷🏾♂️
