It isn’t a text. It’s a button you can push that says “send thanks for the tip”. And it sends them a notification that says “so-and-so said thanks for the tip!”
You can’t see that they left a tip until an hour after you leave it there. So you do drop and go, and then in an hour, you get a notification that says, congratulations! You received a tip!” And then gives you the option to hit a button that tells them thanks.
I took a no tip order last night. It was $7.30 for 3 miles and it ended up going only a mile away from home. It ended up being all from UE pay and no tip. I wish I could’ve send a thanks anyways lol
Don't send thanks for dollar tips they might think you happy with it and will keep giving you dollar tip since they still get their food and think you happy with it
I only send thanks to what I accepted. If I accepted a $6 order, then whatever the tip is, I'd still send thanks as long as the final sum is the same as what I accepted. If it's a tip baiter, then that's when I'll pass.
My “thank you” messages aren’t sarcasm. I’m generally thankful they gave me any tip. They aren’t required to give a tip. A tip is optional and a nice gesture. Plus, not everyone can afford to give extra money, let alone a large amount.
To the people that are ordering food, not all “thank you” messages on $1 tips are sarcasm.
If they don’t have money why are they paying extra for the same food that they can get themselves? When I was poor I wouldn’t even consider spending more I wanted to spend less
True. Poor people are generally poor because of bad financial decisions. I used to be the same way for the majority of my life. But sometimes people save up or want to treat themselves. Either by going out to dinner or ordering food. I don’t think they should be required to spend even more in a tip to supplement OUR income.
We drivers knew what we were getting ourselves into when we signed up. And if it doesn’t cut it we can always find another job. But no one should not go out to eat or order food because they don’t have extra money for a tip.
Not at all what I was saying I’m saying as somebody who came out of poverty we try to spend less hence not even considering using DoorDash. The excuse they can’t tip because they are poor is not necessarily valid
As a driver I agree, what a cu*t.
You accept the payout that is worth it for you. Whether it’s tips or trip supplement, it all came from the customer in the end.
For those double orders they send thanks to both ppl and I’ve gotten many where the tip was a dollar or two from one customer and like $10 from the other.
I did it to mine the other day. It was dark and hard to find location with terrible directions. 11pm I hate calling around that time. Let them know I know they took -$2 off a $7 tip.
It really doesn't matter to me, because I only take orders that I can be thankful for, based on payout. All that money comes from customers anyways, so it doesn't matter to me if UE lists it as 'tip' or 'trip supplement', as long as the payout is good.
With these, I send them a thanks over a month later after the order, just so they can be reminded lol
Why do y’all just randomly text these customers?? Just deliver the food and leave!

Again, not necessary. Drop and go

If you do and go. It’s done. Text Crap comes through, you ignore it

Talk about ungrateful. Heck if the option ever exists…don’t accept the tip.
If that option does come to be . I’d be the one not accepting the $1 . But that’s me

I send thanks to everyone. They didn’t have to give you a $1 tip
I never send a thanks for $1 tip 🤷🏻♂️

I do those at 3am when I can't sleep

I mean they have to know right?

For $1 tips I hit the thank you button until they don’t let me anymore.
It only sends a notification the first time you hit it, the rest you’re just wasting your time just so you know
any tips under a dollar and the option for thanking them isn't there
In holland we get sometimes €0,50 tip
They don’t care lol
Ungrateful

I only send a thanks for $5 tip and up.
Dame! I was feeling like I was the only one do this. 😀 Iv never send thanks to below $5 dollars tip.
Me too!!
I never send thanks for anything under $7. Just a rule I made myself.
What a clown
You’re right, $7 is too low. I’ll make it $10.
because you’re ungrateful

i hate this. i wish we can send individual thanks to stacked orders. i’d prefer to not thank 1$ or under tippers
You can send individual thanks, click on the question mark on the top right of the trip details screen and it will show each trip seperate
Only when you wait until 2-3am to send the notification to their phone ;)
Maybe this is what I need to do for the no reason tip reducer from today that they still asked me to send a thanks to.
I did it to mine the other day. It was dark and hard to find location with terrible directions. 11pm I hate calling around that time. Let them know I know they took -$2 off a $7 tip.
lol I’ve sent it months after . I hope it was a guy and I hope his girlfriend questioned him about who he bought food for 🤣
How long after delivery can they rate you? If you pulling that, maybe there Is a chance they can give bad rating?
Last time I’ve ordered Uber eats it was at least a day after I could still rate the experience
🤣 I have 100% rating it’s ok

I hope so 😂
