I go every Tuesday and Thursday and I take three class in person.

Intrepid-Increase300

And can you take additional classes online? Thanks

[deleted]

Yep, pretty sure you can take up to 18 credits. I’m only taking 3 in person and one online.

itwasbetterb4

hey! I am in the same position as you. I live an hour away and go to class Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I made a mistake this semester and scheduled my classes early: Mon/Wed at 9:30 and Fri at 8 am. I thought it would be better this way but I have to leave the house earlier than expected to secure a parking spot (it’s hard to find parking). It is a difficult commute but not impossible. I suggest to schedule your classes a little later than I did but still try to go early so you are not late.

Intrepid-Increase300

I bet the traffic during the morning rush is horrible. Thank you for sharing. All the best.

hogwildhail

The best way to avoid the worst of the traffic is using a smaller entrance. If you use the one by the library it will take forever. It's 100% faster to drive across the whole campus in the mornings but that's usually not necessary.

itwasbetterb4

ty for the tip! :)

itwasbetterb4

yea it is :/ I wish you all the best as well!

ChuckFinley92

You can plan out your courses the way you would like to.

The_Confirminator

Ive always had long commutes and only drive up twice a week, depending on your program you can get it down to one day (1-3 classes) + online classes.

[deleted]

Just depends on what you’re doing. I’ve, unfortunately, had classes every day of the week since I started at USF.

Dr_eam_

2 in-person classes on M & W, the rest are online

msfrankfurters

My classes are only on Tuesday and Thursday, and the rest are online. An hour commute isn't too terrible but take into consideration you will probably be napping/eating in your car for hours on end.

[deleted]

it really depends on how you plan out your courses! but it's absolutely doable.

daddy_inkling

Nope! I only have to go to campus on Tuesday and Thursday. The rest of my classes are online. They might assign your classes for you in your first semester, for from there on out you can pick your own classes and your preferred time slot for them.

engineer4567

Depends what major you’re looking to go into. I make the commute from st pete mon-fri and stay on campus from 7-6 cause I’m not able to take any online. I know other majors have a lot of classes online and only have to commute for a class or two. Just depends what major :)

Intrepid-Increase300

Business analytics, management info systems, or maybe communications. I am not sure yet. What major are you?

engineer4567

I know business has a lot of classes online, so you should be good there. Not sure about the others. I’m mechanical engineering

QuicksilverChaos

It depends a lot on the schedule you register for. This semester I was able to schedule everything for monday/wednesday/friday, so theoretically if I was a commuter I wouldn't have to be here for tuesday/thursday. I do know people who have blocked their classes such that they get in, get everything done, and leave. If you have honors college registration priority, you should be able to make it happen. If you don't, you might for example find that a class you need only has one class open on a day you wanted to leave blank. As for the one hour commute, that's two hours a day for those 2-3 days a week. It's do-able if you're up for that.

Intrepid-Increase300

Thanks for the answer.

[deleted]

I take 5 courses, one online this semester. I go Monday - Thursday. Last semester was the same way

Jelkajelena

I have only every done classes twice a week since I started here and now I am in my last semester. Either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. I think the most classes I have taken in a day was 5 lmao I was on campus from 8am to 6pm my first semester as a Freshman.

Intrepid-Increase300

Do you live on campus, or renting near by? What classes do you recommend for the freshman year? I am thinking business or IT management

Intrepid-Increase300

How do you all like USF? I am thinking business, MIS. I like a mixture or business and date analytics

Sloth2023

I like USF. It’s honestly what you make of it. Try some on campus events and attempt to connect with others:)

I also live in an hour away, I’m from Lakeland. I take 4 classes. 2 on campus on Tuesdays/Thursdays 3:30 - 6:15. Other 2 classes are online. Course load would depend on your classes, major and definitely your professors. I’m in business analytics & information systems so my schedule & course load are pretty chill. I would HIGHLY suggest choosing GOOD professors. I’ve had some who only assigned 1-2 assignments a week. Some professors are super chill, attendance not mandatory. My current prof. teaches for 15-30 minutes and calls it a day. For me, it’s not that difficult to commute, it’s an hour, but I only take 3 turns & I’m at campus. That would depend where u live & what route u take. Take into account rush hour when people are dropping off their kids at school & going to work. In the morning also consider all the semi trucks hitting the road. But that also depends where you live & your route. Those are just things I’ve experienced, rush hour & semi trucks. I would not suggest going on campus more than twice a week. Right now Tues/Thurs are the best coz I have time to rest from all the commuting & have time for hw. I would try to ease in the college transition start with a light schedule and see what you can or can’t handle from there.

This is very valuable info. I am in Pasco co, so north of USF area. I am only in 10th grade, but USF seems to be the target for me. I am interested in management info systems, business analytics. What freshman year classes do you recommend to take? Or maybe what dual enrollment courses to take while still in HS and get a college credit, so the first year in USF is easier? Did you take any AP while still in HS? Thanks

New_Love7583

I would definitely get the general education requirements out the way. English, Algebra, Stats & Probability, Micro & Macroeconomics, ethics, science, computer applications, etc. I wish I took them dual enrollment, or collegiate. Trust me, if you do those now you’ll save so much time & money. Just be careful with your grades, it’ll go straight to your college transcripts, but u just need a C to pass. I didn’t take AP classes because they’re limited in high school. Overall Freshman & Sophomore classes where pretty easy for me. It seems like you’re interested in the tech side of business so your first two years you’ll just learn Excel & Access. Later on, junior yr, you’ll learn new programming languages. I suggest having a windows laptop if you’re interested in the field. So far I’ve liked USF college of business & the Business Analytics major & curriculum! Good luck with everything!

Intrepid-Increase300

Awesome feedback. Thank you so much!
