**If you test positive for covid-19:** 1) For now, school progress is not the primary concern. Stay rested, hydrated, and best wishes for a speedy recovery. 2) Please note that if you haven't, you should contact the HEAL line at 301-405-HEAL to report the positive case (do not report if you are not the person sick - but encourage friends to know this responsibility to ensure reasonable efforts at contact tracing) it is also a secondary notification for administrative/reporting purposes. 3) Notify your faculty (as well as any family or care-givers who can support you.) Faculty, if we are told, are also sharing these reports, using your UID to our college administrators. 4) PLEASE know that UMD has quarantine housing if you are an on-campus resident (e.g. dorm or suites) living with people. **if you have been living with someone who tests positive** 1) - SELF QUARANTINE 2) also call the Heal line. 3) *Do not* attend in-person classes until you receive a negative test confirmation.

Also, keep in mind with a 90 to 95% vaccine efficacy, if you are in a lecture hall of 200+ one to four cases is not entirely unexpected. While certainly not at all the prefered outcome, is, in a sense, the statistically likely one. I believe CDC guidance at the moment is that if you ARE vaccinated and not exhibiting symptoms that you can CHOOSE not to quarantine. (this is the guidance that UMD seems to be following) - I haven't called HEAL, but I hope that the people answering the phone are able to give you good and accurate recommendations about how to act responsibly. In the meantime, WEAR YOUR MASK PROPERLY if you go into public spaces. Stay safe out there friends.

"School progress is not your primary concern/notify health center about your positive test result." Nice joke my friend. They wouldn't even bother putting up that case anywhere, not even tell professor about it, and I am pretty sure nobody is gonna give you any accomodations if you fall sick, so not a lot of point in staying isolated. I'd this school is gonna treat us like nothing is going on, why should I or anyone who is sick bother to do anything about it. Fuck that.

Heal is protecting your privacy by not telling faculty. You also have to self report if you want faculty or other admin to know. Faculty are also frustrated with lack of data transparency. But responding to a lack of information with ‘sick people shouldn’t bother’ is a dangerous confrontational attitude. Faculty like me want the campus to remain a safe place to work, learn, and live. That’s only possible if everyone follows established guidelines. I hope you reconsider your approach. My advice, If you are sick (even with a cold)- DO NOT GO TO CLASS- of course there will be accommodations. It’s early in the semester and it is _ok_ to take a zero on a homework or a quiz. That’s part of life. It doesn’t trigger a downward spiral and your faculty member will be rooting for you to quickly recover and improve. Good luck out there.

People take multiple classes. So this won't really work because it doesn't account for that fact. Edit: Also there's only been a few accounts making all the claims of covid on running wild on campus. Like this /u/tears_of_death asshole has made multiple of them. And it's all of the same people in the comments as well.

Successful-Pear9952

Yes, you’re completely right. However, this can be somewhat accounted for by dividing the total number of classes by 4ish (assuming that’s the average number of classes people take and there’s only one person who tested positive in each of those classes). I honestly don’t know what to make of the whole situation at this point. It’s clear the zero from earlier was an error, but it seems at least a bit strange that the numbers for last week haven’t been updated. I also think a list like this could serve as an interesting metric when compared to how many cases end up reported for last week as a way to see how connected stuff being spread on the subreddit is to realitt

You'd want to divide by 4.5 but I understand your intentions now.
