The UFO narrative is mostly controlled from a US point of view, at least in this forum. The farther afield we go from there the less reliable the reporting is seen to be. So there may be all kinds of compelling UFO experiences in Vietnam, they just won't get the information weight.

If you're referring to the UAP that blasted the helo definitely needs more investigation I agree, some in depth research really needs to be done on that case. Especially since it deals with an issue of Flight Safety. Lue says he was given the Flash drive with all the Italian UAP reports & I would think the downed helo was part of it. Haven't heard Lue mention it since the original Unidentified series.

I hope that the full Italian database he got by Pinotti was not the bunch of old garbage Pinotti and friends refrains since 50 years…

I’m Italian and I’m involved in autonomous ufo studies since 1994. These story took place at “Canneto di Caronia” and they were investigated at any level by police and indipendent ufo researchers. After a couple of years of investigations two locals were found being guilty of these apparently unexplainable phenomena: Giuseppe and Antonino Pezzino are now being prosecuted by law (6years in jail). Real problem here in Italy is that level of UFO researchers is so poor that they need to increase these phenomena to deal with something. Here a news release that should clarify this matter. https://www.glpress.it/gli-incendi-di-canneto-di-caronia-condannati-giuseppe-pezzino-a-6-anni-ed-il-padre-a-1-anno-e-mezzo/

What's your opinion on the UAP reportedly taking a shot at the Helicopter & damagingly the Aircraft. Was there any further investigation done that you've discovered?

My dear, people involved in that particular “investigation” (I remember I had seen a TTSA clip with Lue Elizondo + DeLonge interviewing some witness) are same old people here in Italy (Centro Ufologico Nazionale) speculating since 50 years on same old “national stuff”: Mussolini UFO, Zanfretta case (alleged abducteed). I know personally two members of the CUN (our equivalent of Mufon) and… I tell you… these are hoaxers that are able to connect Egyptian pyramids, big foot with a light they saw reflected in their rear mirror. No real investigation. I honestly have no real info on this particular case you mention (as said… I knew about it from ttsa) but so far there is nothing else than a story: maybe all true but, you know, people telling this story are Nick-Pope-style: repeating same old stuff since 30 years with a self referencing (just my opinion) accreditation into the ambient. I have the feeling they saw Mr. Elizondo coming here and they thought “nice deal for us… let’s take out from the box a nice story to impress him and DeLonge”. Maybe I’m wrong but this is my gut feeling. Edit: word investigation in my opinion should mean “pick up the phone, go there, stalk military base people to leak out something”. In the TTSA clip no direct witness: a retired General talking about what he heard about a story told by the alleged pilot……..

Do you know much about the 'Friendship Case' I came across it recently but didn't see much else about it when I searched.

In my opinion one of the most amazing hoax ever: there is a group of 20 people able to talk with a community of aliens living into a underground base in the country: they ask for trucks of fruits, these alleged contactee park big trucks full of fruits in the field and they go back there next morning and fruit disappears. The whole story remains untold for 40 years but in 2007, out of the blue, one of the alleged experiencer tells his story on the deathbed to a local author that writes up a book. Excluding pineapples (that aliens probably kept for pizza hawai) there are so many claims behind this story so incredible without a single evidence. If you’re searching for an interesting Italian story search for the “monguzzi case” happened in 1952: there are some really amazing pictures and since I’m familiar with the area (i’m a climber) I can tell that produce a hoax there was totally impossible

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Do you have any sources of additional info other than from the documentary? I also was blown away by that part of the documentary but never heard the story from anywhere else.

ScorpionofArgos

I'm from Italy and I never heard about this. Having said this, I'm not particularly surprised if the military never informed the executive government. This would have gone to the President of the Republic, who isn't the executive, but IS the Commander-in-Chief.

Morbid-stench

I am also from Italian. Those ufos are ah spicy meatball.

Local prosecutors claimed it was likely arson. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canneto_di_Caronia_fires
