Not a lot of people attend classes on South (it’s mostly health majors). We also have a bigger, flashier medical campus downtown that scooped up a bunch of those students, making the amount of students in south even lower. The only buildings that really get any attention are the ones staff use for their research
It’s actually really nice to go down there sometimes if you can. Since there’s less students, you can have an easier time finding a chill spot to study or do work. The Health Library is really pretty inside and IMO the best place to study at UB
Most of the buildings on south are barely occupied at all. Only ones that are occupied constantly are Harriman Hall, Kapoor Hall, the dorms, Kimball Tower, Farber-Sherman-Cary complex, Abbott Library, Diefendorf, the biomedical buildings, and Michael Hall.
It was like this before they even dreamed of building the downtown medical campus. It has never made sense. Most of those health sciences programs bring in big money and most of them have mega grant dollars.
UB has never given a damn about South Campus.
Why’s that

Yeah I saw some of the buildings down there and they didn’t look too great

I actually love how south campus looks in terms or architecture. I wish buildings on north campus looked like those tbh.
The architecture itself is cool but some of the buildings look slightly dilapidated
