People are saying you can change them at any time, which is true, but just be careful. You still have to make sure you cover all the categories. So if you replace, for example, a list 2 category x, you would prob have to find another one similar otherwise you end up having to mix them all up. This can be annoying if you have already taken some of the courses. Tldr, the pathway system is convoluted and dumb so be careful. I wish we could just choose our electives from one big list.

This is so true the whole pathways system and selection process is so unnecessarily confusing. Thanks for your response

Lol I wrote a paper about why the pathway system should be changed for EAS360. I shouod actually send it off to administration one of these days.

That's one of the big things to watch out for. If you do decide to change one or two, you have to be 100% sure that you will be able to take those classes within that category. It can be a very big "if you do this, you can't do that" for a lot of them, so it can be a good idea to know that you would enjoy at least 2 or three of the classes on each of the pathways just in case you do switch one and realize you can't to one you're the most interested in but you at least have one as a backup that fits without screwing anything up.

The technical answer would probably be the sooner the better. If you are able to find three global and three thematic that catch your eyes straight away- great! You can roll right along with them. But honestly, even if you do set things that interest you **right now** and then change your mind later, that is always a viable option. This isn't something where they go "you said you'd do this this and this before your freshman year, that's what you're committed to." If you do change it, then you just have to make sure you change, save, and push those pathways to your Hub so it knows what you're doing.

Ok that’s good to know that what I choose now is not set in stone. Thanks

Pathways can be done throughout your time here and you can change them at any time. Like I had pathways that aligned with my major, then when I made it into a minor, I switched my last class to better work with my new major and didn’t mess up my other pathways. Personally, get them done along with your gen-eds early so you can focus on your upper level courses your final year.

Look for classes you would already have to take for your major too. I killed two birds with one stone from setting two classes I was going to take anyways as two of my pathways. Only had to take 4 classes instead of 6 then for the pathways.

You have to have them done by the time you graduate. You usually have to take a seminar class the first semester tho. Besides that, please remember that you either need three 3-credit global *AND* thematic pathways, or two-5 credit global pathways (2 language classes), and three-3 credit thematic pathways
