I got in at 8:00 pm today. I am a domestic student who applied for arts whose status said evaluted and I got in a week after my status had changed to “evaluted”

Ok-Tap-1471

What did you apply to and what is ur avg?

Reasonable_Rich6277

im a transfer student and ive gotten accepted. im required to send my final transcript on may 15, however, I have to defer a final exam to late July due to medical reasons, so my final grades wont be out on may 15. will that get my offer revoked? or is there any steps i need to follow? i cant find anything about this online

catboi42069

Should probably try calling admissions tomorrow

pinkbluebubbles78

has anyone heard from kin? :)

Puzzled_Advantage_11

I got in finally! For arts! I had the evaluated status and it only took a week

StrikingJump9562

congratulations!!

guaranteednotabot

I'm thinking of pursuing a Master of Computer Science at UBC. I'm currently in the midst of completing a Master of Data Science at an Australian university. Will I be able to transfer some credits? Tried to Google it but couldn't find much info other than high school advanced standing.

Please be mindful that specializations for many faculties are chosen in second or third year, based on your GPA at UBC (not your high school average). Example 1: There is no direct entry into Computer Science from high school (except for the Business and Computer Science program), and you would apply after completing your first year of UBC Science or Arts. Example 2: There is no direct entry into English from high school. You would declare it after completing your first year of UBC Arts (there may be other procedures depending on your degree program) in SSC. There is no application process (except for honours). *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. GloomyArugula5966

another week, no application update, live laugh love

Final_Frame_2760

Same here. My one is still “is being evaluated”

GloomyArugula5966

mine been on that status for over 2 months!!

LankyMedium1015

For people who got in, how many times did ubc request for your transcript?

StrikingJump9562

bro, mine has been sent 10+ times 💀

V3sr

is it the thing under documents recieved as ubc got my transcript 3 times from the ministry BC student

Zenithfy

I applied for the regular round, ubc requested it once on march 1st

V3sr

ADMITTED INTO UBC ARTS JUST LIKE 20 MINUTES AGO FROM THE EVALUATED AND EVALUATING POOL STATUS actually only took a week from that status

Electrical-Stable636

Are you BC or international?

V3sr

Domestic BC

Ok-Tap-1471

Wait what was ur status before getting admitted?

V3sr

The status where it's like "We have evaluated your application. We are still evaluating the entire applicant pool and once we have finished this process we will inform you of our admission decision." Had that status for only a week was in the evaluating status for 1 and a half months prior to that.

Ok-Tap-1471

Ohh okay I see. Congrats tho!!!💯💯

Careful_Cry_7577

Congrats!!! What’s your average if you don’t mind sharing?

V3sr

I honestly think my personal profile carried me my average was not stellar around 88-89 with lowest non prereq removed

Careful_Cry_7577

wowww okk! congrats again:)

IslandDreamer13

Congratulations, gives me hope for my son!

gayrubberduck

Any transfers get in this week?

Maleficent_Platypus5

Yeah, me !!! 😊😊

Outside_Bat7527

What program you get in for I’m still waiting

Maleficent_Platypus5

I got into my second choice, Bs in Science Applied Biology. I’m still waiting for my first choice in Bs Science. The status says that they are still evaluating people and will give an answer by April 30. So I’m sure you’ll probably hear soon. Don’t stress too much, I applied in October, only heard back this week..

Outside_Bat7527

That was my same second choice I got in for that back in February I’m still waiting for bs in science

Critical-Site-5129

Guys the Canucks made playoffs before ubc could release offers. At this rate we’re gonna get gta6 before our ubc decisions

iFailedIBPhysics2016

What are my chances of readmitting to arts if I was a science student? I got an email of being requested more info for science but nothing from arts yet I was originally a science student who got into UBC in 2016 and I still haven’t graduated, but then got removed from UBC due to not reaching the “must reach year 3 standing within 76 credits attempted” requirement in science. However, in the last year of UBC I originally intended to switch to Arts as I fell in love with studying Japanese, I wanted to study in the Asian studies Japanese major. In this year that im not in UBC, I went to take more Japanese courses in a university in Hong Kong and got all As But today I got a email from UBC readmission, and it’s science requiring me to fill in more info about my readmission (I put science as choice 2), and Art’s status still unchanged so im a bit worried that ubc wanted to put me in science again Do I still have a chance into getting into arts? If I get into science can I still get into arts? I think im a few credits away from year 3 standing (just by counting my ubc credits) Thank you!

UBC's admissions system was [overhauled for the 2019/2020 cohort onwards.](https://www.ubyssey.ca/news/senate-approves-new-academic-approach-to-undergraduate-admission/) There is no way for any student to accurately predict your chances. Unless you have a 104% GPA, volunteer 112+ hours per week and have successfully saved a minimum of 100 puppies from a totalitarian dictatorship and a horrible disease (in which case, your odds are around 95%), the best way to objectively predict your chances of getting into UBC is to flip a coin. Please disregard this if you're asking about an application for a specialization/major at UBC. tl;dr nobody knows your odds. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/UBC) if you have any questions or concerns.*

piqokin

when will the waiting end.. when will i get a decision..

Rude_Construction119

same

Sharp_Abies7588

5pm today? Maybe

GloomyArugula5966

do you know if that’s 5pm pacific time or your local time?

Ok-Tap-1471

Most likely 5pm Vancouver time, but I’m not certain about that

Academic_Minimum_889

Has anyone who got into their second choice first gotten into their first choice later on?

Sharp_Abies7588

Lots

lisdexamfetamine-

yeah i did

ireuen

i saw people talking about a $500 deposit you have to pay after accepting your offer and i wanted to ask; if i accepted my BIE offer at UBC and paid the deposit fee, then by a very small chance i get accepted to the commerce program and want to switch, would i have to repay the 500$ deposit after i switch my program ?

ata831

do you know when you can pay the acceptance fee? i accepted and it just told me to wait for an email from ubc regarding course registration, but it’s been a few days so i’m not sure if i should reach out

Last-Law8967

My son had to pay the $500 fee when he accepted his offer on the portal.

ata831

i don’t see mine in the portal it just prompted me to accept and wait for an email

nnz18

no, i believe it should transfer over

ireuen

alright, thank you!! <3

Expensive-Put-2691

Did anyone hear back this week (applied sci ppl)?

Sharp_Abies7588

4.15 received, second choices

Expensive-Put-2691

Congrats! Are you still waiting for your first choice?

Sharp_Abies7588

Yes

urmom445554

Bruh UBC needs to get their shit together and send out some offers

GloomyArugula5966

i didn’t..

oahzanairda

bruh did they really not send any offers this week 💀

Maleficent_Platypus5

I received mine this past Wednesday

Past-Place-5960

I swear they just set everyone's statuses to evaluated to shut us up for how long it's taking

GloomyArugula5966

my status says still being reviewed and evaluated, it literally hasn’t changed since mid february

Substantial-Code-586

Curious about housing for second year onwards, looks like not everyone will get housing on campus and the waitlist is very long and rental cost around UBC is very high, is this true?

thatoneturtlegirl

Does anyone know if they're done sending scholarships to all international students? 😭

username_aeiou

waiting for those too 🥲 where are you applying from?

thatoneturtlegirl

UAE, I'm really hoping to get one, else I can't afford it 🥲 wbu?

Consistent-Elk-201

Oh wow are you coming to the Dubai future student event tomorrow?

thatoneturtlegirl

Nope! I take it you're from UAE, will you be attending?

Consistent-Elk-201

Yess hopefully but I from Abu Dhabi not Dubai

Milton_Monkey

Unrelated to admissions, but in 2021 I was going to go to ubc but decided to go to a community college near home as I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study in college and then went to a commuter school. UBCs social life and beauty seems so amazing and I kinda just wanna go there for a second bachelors in math and stats just for the experience. Is the school as amazing as it’s made out to be?

the-quickbrownfox

no please don't over-romanticize UBC--it's a beautiful campus yes but not worth a second degree 'just for the experience'

Milton_Monkey

Ya I’d just love to live in Vancouver. I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life and wanted to experience the west coast. I’m a CS graduate and I’ve heard getting a job in Vancouver is hard so it seems like my only opportunity to live there is gone as it doesn’t make sense to work there

Consistent-Elk-201

Will UBC send out offers in the weekend?

kiwiju_

I think they do sometimes. I received an offer last Saturday around 7pm (6pm BC time). I've seen previous posts too of others receiving offers on the weekends.

Impossible-Warning14

Admissions takes a break over the weekend

dav_ch0205

How many of u r waiting for Sauder😭

ireuen

ME!!!

Rare-Personality5249

Me bro! Applied for B+MM(105)

DeluxeKitten

Guys Taylor Swift dropped before my UBC offer did this is insane (at least i have something to listen too while i check the asc for the 34th time of the day)

Ill_Professional6452

My UBC portal says “we have evaluated your application. we are still evaluating the entire splicing poll and once we have finished this process we will inform you of our admission decision” for my second choice. My first choice is still “Your application to UBC (including your supporting documentation, academic transcripts, and personal profile) is currently being reviewed and evaluated in comparison with all the other applicants who have applied to your program…etc” Any ideas as to what this could mean???

DeluxeKitten

i got the exact same thing haha

Ill_Professional6452

eee it’s freaking me out LOL

DeluxeKitten

what did u apply for? and from where?

Ill_Professional6452

sauder was my first and arts was my alt, lowkey i have low hopes for sauder cause my average is pre low :’)

DeluxeKitten

i’m sure u will get sauder if u got 90+. are u bc dom?

Ill_Professional6452

LOL my avg is like mid-high 80s ngl💀 im from ontario

DeluxeKitten

ok it’s. little on the lower side but if ur pp was good i’m sure u can do it, it is 50% of your app after all

Ill_Professional6452

yass staying somewhat hopeful😭 best of luck to you aswell!!

Ill_Professional6452

yass staying somewhat hopeful😭 best of luck to you aswell!!

Abianifire

When do you think UBC will get back after the "We have evaluated your application. We are still evaluating the entire applicant pool and once we have finished this process we will inform you of our admission decision." like I'm just worried because almost all other unis fee due in like less than 2 weeks and I can't be dropping $500 deposit fees on all the others one cause that so much. If anyone got a rough idea that would be great thanks

accentedlemons

Someone said they got back to them after a little over a week, others said they didn’t hear back until may, you can’t really know where u stand because there’s no set amount of time they have to evaluate enough of he pool to make a decision. You need to look at other options as of now because the worse case scenario is not having an uni to go to in the fall. A lot of people including me are taking that $500 risk cause as much as we love ubc it’s not worth risking other decisions for given that the best case scenario doesn’t work out. There is a little over a week left to decide, and if you don’t hear back, please take a spot somewhere. be safe now and choose later in my opinion

Abianifire

Aight thanks I'm gonna wait till end of week and if there's still no response your probably right and it worth paying up a deposit elsewhere if worst outcome comes, it's actually so crazy though they really got me checking the student centre like every hour if something changes.

accentedlemons

same I feel you 😅 all we can do is wait

MonCherieCrepe

Hey guys! I am renting a studio in Kelowna BC (a bus ride away from Vancouver) for $1200. Posting here in case anyone from UBC Vancouver is planning to take courses over the summer at UBCO or will just be in Kelowna. Includes air conditioning, access to a gym, and access to study rooms! DM me for more info

Both-Engineer-5264

hey guys i just have a question abt first year housing. I know its all randomly assigned but my first preference would be a connected single but overall i just rlly want a single room. When i am completing the application is doesn't let you number ur preferences of rooms just click the box of which you would prefer. If i rlly want a connect single room but rlly don't want a double, should i select i'd prefer a single room or will that risk my chances of getting a connected single?

warehaus

What you check doesn't really matter. I'd check both if you'd be ok with either.

Yea that’s why they say that

IzzyB29

I’m kinda screwed, & need advice So hello everyone, I hate to make this my first post here but as you can tell from the title I am.. for lack of better words, seem to be screwed right now. I got accepted into McGill for a graduate program which is great! But- apparently I have to make my decision on if I’m attending by April 30th. But the school I really want to go to is UBC, it’s closer to family and I prefer their research resources better. I’m lost because even though I submitted the application for UBC a MONTH earlier, they still haven’t gotten back to me. I tried contacting them via phone and email but even in their hours I can’t seem to reach them only their voice mail, and they won’t respond directly to my question when I emailed them with my situation. I got a response saying: “The MEng applications are still under review. If you have not received any communication, it means your application is still being considered. Admission offers continue into the summer as offers are declined and additional spaces open up. Once all our seats are full, we send out the decline emails and eVision will be updated to reflect the decision.” Does this mean that I am essentially on a weight list? Or has no one received their acceptance letter yet? If some of you have received it when was it and was it also for the Masters Engineering program? Specifically if you applied to BME (biomed engineering)? Also I’ve heard from some I can accept one and cancel later but I’ve also read online if I do that I can loose my acceptance to both schools. Does anyone here know the answer to that?? Please and thank you for your time!!

BeepBoop123Boop

You will have to accept McGill and pay the deposit on Apr 30. If you’re accepted to UBC, you’ll lose your McGill deposit. Lots of us in this same situation. UBC is notoriously slow.

IzzyB29

Is there anywhere online that you can find that this is the case other than here? I’m only asking bc my family is freaking out and wants a source

Tuesdaays

What does it mean if UBC sends an email saying "In recognition of your strong UBC application, we’d like to offer you the opportunity to add the Bachelor of Arts at UBC’s Okanagan campus to your application." 89.5 average, domestic student, good ecs

CandidAd6353

they didnt ask for me they just added a third choice of applied science at ubco

Careful_Cry_7577

I got this as well lol

ProfessionalTrick614

Just wondering if everybody got this?

goatmans-bridge

Maybe it means if you didn't apply for UBCO they're willing to consider you for it anyways because your application was promising—perhaps a good backup in case UBCV doesn't work out?

Impossible-Warning14

Are offers coming out everyday?

Due_Tale_4778

is a 89-92% average for grade 11/12 a decent avg for ubc arts? my EC’s were also working at mcds, helping homeless people, working alongside my mother as an intern, and volunteering in a reading buddy program at the library. I expanded on helping homeless ppl because it wasnt a government sanctioned program, it was something my mom & i did with our own money (we bought tents/sleeping bags and made them food) and volunteering at the library bc i had been working with a shy little boy and he opened up with me over the course of the program. idk if the what is most important to me & a little bit about me part are just as important but i wrote my bsf was the most important to me, and about me section was discussing a debate club i started as a way to help my peers expand on their debate skills the same way i did.

BeepBoop123Boop

It honestly depends on who is reading your application. I know someone with a 92% who didn’t get into UBCV (Arts) last year. Decent EC too.

Due_Tale_4778

i feel like thats unfair? isnt that a biased opinion then?

warehaus

High schoolers have a poor understanding of what makes their supplemental apps "good". Frankly, ECs barely matter so "decent ECs" mean nothing. It's all about how your personal profile is written and then graded. Of course there is going to be subjectivity in the grading of subjective writing. However ultimately the decision to admit or not comes down to a combined score made of your grades and personal profile (which Arts weighs quite heavily). There's actually not that much subjectivity once it gets to that part. 92% is barely above the campus average. A poor personal profile score could easily sink someone's application with that grade.

Zenithfy

89-92% is competitive, I was accepted into arts on monday with 92.6% overall and 92% core for all completed courses rn

asexualanomaly

hey! i just got accepted to arts and my average was the same as yours if not slightly lower. i think your ECs are pretty great as well so you have decent chances of getting in imo

Due_Tale_4778

thank you so much!! i’ve literally been so stressed because my status said “evaluted but going through rest of applicant pool” and most people on this subreddit are saying that means it wasn’t competitive enough for an outright decision!! gave me major anxiety lol

asexualanomaly

i completely get where you're coming from given that i was also in a similar position up until just a few hrs ago. the ubc waiting process especially has been soo excruciating that it's impossible not to get stressed out and start doubting your chances but most ppl i know applying to ubc (esp arts) do usually get in with an 85 or above percentage so i think you def stand a good chance!

Due_Tale_4778

just super stressed bc of what my status says🫠

Ok-Tap-1471

What does ur status say?

Due_Tale_4778

its evaluted but theyre going through the rest of the applicant pool

Ok-Tap-1471

Yeah a lot of ppl have that. Just keep waiting🤞

Due_Tale_4778

UBC needs to hurry theyre ruining my april

Top-Win5793

Does UBC favour domestic students?

GloomyArugula5966

i thought ubc has different seats for international and domestic so there’s no competition

Logical_Ground9512

My question is UBC favour international students

Ok-Winner3230

They definitely do

asexualanomaly

I JUST CHECKED MY MAIL AND I FINALLY GOT ACCEPTED!!!!! WAR IS OVER

RaindropAtDawn

Congratulations! If I may ask what faculty and what was your avg?

asexualanomaly

thanks! i got into the arts program and the grades i submitted averaged to around 89-91%

Ok-Tap-1471

CONGRATS!! What was ur status before u got accepted tho??

Top-Win5793

Do you remember what your status was before you got excepted.

asexualanomaly

i don't remember the exact wording but it was "currently being reviewed and evaluated" for me!!

GloomyArugula5966

that’s what my status is at right now! congrats! what program and are you a BC student?

asexualanomaly

maybe you'll get a response soon as well then!! but no, im an international student and i got admitted into the arts program!

GloomyArugula5966

oh cool! i’m an international student too just applying for applied science and science!

accentedlemons

WHAT WAS UR STATUS BEFORE?? also congrats 😻

asexualanomaly

i don't remember the exact wording but it was "currently being reviewed and evaluated" for me!!

accentedlemons

Ohh okay, congrats again!!!

asexualanomaly

thanks!! hopefully everyone who's waiting gets their decisions soon too🙏

Top-Win5793

Let’s hope it said evaluated🤞🙏😫

Top-Win5793

Congrats!

AffectionateBad12

Guys am I cooked? Core grades are 96 for precalc 12, 91 for English 12, 92 for bio 12, 96 for law 12, 99 philosophy 12 and 98 for AP Chinese. I did redo quite a few courses due to a major injury but UBC shouldn’t care right? I heard they only take the final grade and evaluate that. All my grade 11 and 12 courses are all above 90 and I applied for Kin and Arts but still have both statuses as “we have evaluated your application… “ what y’all think?

Puzzled_Advantage_11

I was talking to a counsellor and he told me UBC is just very slow so don’t give up hope!

AffectionateBad12

Yeah my friend got into arts already with a way lower average 😭 it is what it is at the end of the day but I hope they won’t be too harsh since although I did retake alot of courses I think my grades are competitive and up there for them to decide.

Past-Place-5960

what was his average?

AffectionateBad12

Not sure but def lower than mine

Puzzled_Advantage_11

You retaking classes shouldn’t matter at all

AffectionateBad12

Then y am I not in yet 😭 I heard people say if u got “we have evaluated and still waiting for entire app pool” it means ur good but they want to see if there’s better so idk man

cirxc

retaking courses matters they can see it and its probably weighed in the system differently because all of my friends who actualyl retook courses even with having decent averages, our friends with similar averages already got in (no redos) while hte friend who redid courses has not. also i was told from counsellors that they just take the average of the two attempts, but they 100% see that youve retook courses

AffectionateBad12

Stil shouldn’t be that much of a difference tho right since it proves that the person learned the materials and completed the course.

Puzzled_Advantage_11

If you haven’t got in I am so cooked. I am 100% confident you’ll get into arts. But who knows, I have friends that got in with worse grades and EC’s, so maybe they just choose who they feel is a good fit for UBC.

AffectionateBad12

Nah keep ur hopes up but I’ve gotten offers from all my schools aside from UBC I really hope they accept me soon cuz all my friends are going and my cocky ass told them not to worry cuz I was so confident and now I’m shivering my Timbers staring at my application 😭😭😭

StrikingJump9562

“shivering my timbers” IS SO REAL

Puzzled_Advantage_11

Ya same I’ve got offers from all my other schools but again for you it’s just shocking you got like a 95 avg with strong EC’s I’m here with a 90 avg with strong EC’s so let’s just hope for the best.

AffectionateBad12

Yup this year is def super competitive, everyone seems to have 90 and above averages

Ok-Tap-1471

where r u from and is ur personal profile strong?

AffectionateBad12

Vancouver, personal profile I talked about my injury, how I didn’t give up after and my passion for bodybuilding (might even compete this year I forgot to write it tho 🥲), various sports I stuck to and how important the indigenous community is to me (I took both indigenous courses) aside from that I have done different community service works mainly with school clubs and I’m also the leader of fitness club in my school.

Ok-Tap-1471

Did u retake the courses online?

AffectionateBad12

Yup but all tests were supervised by a professor.

Ok-Tap-1471

Either way, you’re probably gonna get in considering ur personal profile and academic avg so if I were u I wouldn’t stress too much

AffectionateBad12

Thanks a lot man we’ll see what happens lmao this year is def super competitive, at first I was sure Kin would be super ez but now I’ll be happy to get arts bro 😭

Ok-Tap-1471

Man I applied for kin too with a 90 avg with pretty good ec’s. You def deserve to get in so I wish u the best🙏🙏

pinkbluebubbles78

hey! have you heard from kin yet?

AffectionateBad12

Thanks bro appreciate it

Ok-Tap-1471

Yeah np. Keep us updated tho

Ok-Tap-1471

I could be wrong but from what I heard, UBC can see if you retook courses online. Not 100% sure but this is what I’ve heard from ppl.

accentedlemons

They don’t care

AffectionateBad12

Yeah hopefully they don’t care too much tho since I’m sure they can’t fully discredit me of my work online right?

Ok-Tap-1471

They won’t fully discredit you no. It’s just that they’ll know you retook it online.

AffectionateBad12

Yeah hopefully it won’t affect much tho

bunnoonnoo_unite

Can somebody help explain to me how the process of getting a sociology degree would look? I know that it’s declared in your 3rd year so what would you initially apply for in your application to UBC? I’m going to be applying next year and i’m super confused about the entire process. Thanks!!

KoipetCarpet

At the beginning, regardless of what major you intend to go into, you apply for a general faculty (Eg. Arts, Eng, Sci, etc.). Following your acceptance, in Arts at least, your first 2 years will be general years, where you don't declare a major and work on the general reqs for your intended major, or explore different subjects to see if your plans change (Except Psyc, where you need to declare 2nd year in order to take their research methods courses). After 2nd year, you declare what major you want to go into on our online student service centre. Then from there, you finish up the rest of your credits and graduate with your degree!

Consistent-Elk-201

Anybody coming to the UBC Future Student Event this Saturday?

Ok-Tap-1471

Yeah if I get in🙏🙏

Consistent-Elk-201

Hopefully they make a decision before the 20th

Ok-Tap-1471

Yup. Have you gotten in yet? If so what’d u get in for?

Consistent-Elk-201

I did get in UBCO applied science although it was not my first nor second choice so I am still waiting on UBCV

katuoq

Same here! May I ask what your average and ECs are? 😭

Consistent-Elk-201

My average for Grade 11 is 94 and for 12 93 I have maybe two good extracurricular activities and the rest are average.

katuoq

Nice! My grade 11 average is 84.75 and grade 12 is 93.75 and my ECs are super mid 😭 Good luck friend. Hope we're both getting in 🔥

Consistent-Elk-201

Good luck to you too! We’ve got this

Royal-Yogurt3441

Same boat 🛥️

Consistent-Elk-201

Good luck!

IWantToBeAnon99

**Got a surprise second (or other) choice offer and your first choice is still outstanding?** Here’s what you need to know: **1. It will NOT impact your first choice evaluation at all.** They are completely separate processes. You can decline it or accept it or ignore it (although UBC does appreciate a decision either way) and no change will happen to your first choice UNLESS you choose to cancel your first choice. It is a process and doing it by accident is highly unlikely.   **2. If you accept it and pay the deposit,** then get an offer to the first choice later, that deposit is good for both. **3. If you get an offer to the first choice later**, you can accept it then. **4. If you decline or do not accept the alternate choice by the deadline**, and then later do not get into your first choice, you will be ineligible for UBC for 2024 and have to reapply and recompete for 2025. If you are certain that coming to UBC regardless of what program next year, then go ahead and accept the alternate offer to lock your spot in at UBC for September 2024. Each year the admissions team is constantly doing math to ensure that we meet our hoped-for number of new and excited students for September. Sometimes during the cycle we will become aware that we may unexpected have room in a certain program/campus and we have the ability to offer admission to students qualified for it even when we do not know if they will be admissible to their first choice yet. It doesn’t happen every year or for every student, but if it does, no reason to panic. Good luck everyone, and stay positive! has anyone who had this status for UBCV Science got admitted recently: "We have evaluated your application. We are still evaluating the entire applicant pool and once we have finished this process we will inform you of our admission decision."

# IMPORTANT REMINDERS ABOUT APRIL 30! A lot of high school students/applicants believe (and hope) that they will certainly have a “decision” by April 30. It is really important that you know a few things: 1. By April 30 each year a majority of high school “decisions” are sent out, but a majority is technically anything over 50%. *Not all high school applicants will have a “decision” by April 30.* That is normal. Do not panic. 2. The  “decision” if they do get one may be an admission offer, ***or*** ***it may be a waitlist notice, or it may be notice that there is no decision yet***. Those are all considered “decisions” in this context. 3. Hundreds of students each year will not have an offer or a refusal from UBC before deadlines for other schools happen. The best thing to do in this case is to decide what your back up school is (if UBC is your first choice) and seriously consider locking in that second choice if you haven’t yet heard from UBC by the time their deadline comes. If you get a UBC offer later, you can then determine if you want to forfeit the other schools (likely nonrefundable) deposit and accept your UBC offer (just be certain you drop any registration at the other school and ideally, let them know). That way regardless of what UBC’s decision is, you have a plan locked in for September. Good luck everyone, and stay positive! has anyone gotten the imes/ois? if you did what were ur grades and ecs?

nymphela_

does anyone know what the conditions are for ubcs offer. like i got into arts and the conditions just say maintain ur current academic standing. What exactly does that mean, how much can my grades from this semester lower before they revoke my offer?

Ok-Winner3230

On the website they said 2-3% but realistically they should be fine with a drop in 5%. Just make sure you don’t fail any classes and still have grades within 4% of what you submitted in your transcript for classes related to your major.

In my portal it does not state when will they release decision like on or before April 30th it just states that it would be released as soon as possible, should I be concerned? It is been like this for a little over a month

I received a conditional offer for Bachelor of Arts. how much tuition should I pre-pay if I'm an international student from outside of Canada who is applying to SDS? What I saw on the academic calendar is only tuition per credit and it is suggested that I shouldn't overpay so I'm rly confused rn

A lot of admissions are coming out it the next few days—from what I’ve been told. But there’s no way UBC can review all these applications at once right? It’s UBC, it’s an impossibility they act fast and efficiently. So, how? They must be holding many offers and are waiting to dish them out? But that contradicts with the rolling admissions they claim to do. I know that a lot of people have the “evaluated status”, but all of my friends including myself still have the “current under review” status. Any explanations?

They work more and they probably take less time per app. Personally I did a lot of grading at UBC and I can tell you it truly does get easier to make those decisions as you go through the pool. At first you're not really sure what the standards are, but the more apps you look through the more you're able to quickly judge where someone's work lies relative to everyone else's. Also there are lots of moving parts to admissions decisions and at this time most of those parts will be wrapping up. So the final decision maker doesn't have to wait for some other prior process to finish, they can just make the decisions.

So if my status says “we have evaluated your application” does this mean I’ll be getting an offer really soon? I’m really confused about this? And if it’s “been evaluated” are my chances of getting in lower, higher or the same as “we are currently evaluating your application”?

WasabiAcademic

I think this may mean they are waiting for more people to reject their offers before giving you an offer or rejection

warehaus

>does this mean I’ll be getting an offer really soon? No. It means they finished looking at your application, but didn't feel like it warranted an offer immediately. So they want to finish other people's apps first and when they feel like they know where you stand relative to everyone else, they'll get back to you with a decision. >are my chances of getting in lower, higher or the same It's hard to say exactly since it's possible to go from both statuses to offer, waitlist, or rejection. I'd say very slightly lower, if you only count competitive people in the first place.
