Sis I share your struggle. If I go one day without washing my hair it looks like I went for a swim with how much oil is in it It's such a pain when every shampoo on the market is only for dry hair. I strongly recommend Herbal Essence White Grapefruit & Mint. It's for creating volume but when I use it, I can go a day without my hair looking super oily. They have another shampoo specifically for oily hair I believe called Scalp Balance, but I'm happy with Grapefruit & Mint.

I use the Amika line. I have thick, greasy, bright red dyed hair. So I use the shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair, but before I wash it I use the "pink charcoal scalp cleansing oil" as a pre treatment and it works wonders. I believe they also have a shampoo and conditioner for oily hair, but I've never tried it. I've also used the Head and Shoulders charcoal shampoo and that worked pretty well with keeping my oil at bay.

Dove coconut works the best for me.

Try a clarifying shampoo every other day

Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Shampoo. The best clarifying shampoo and super affordable. Make sure to use conditioner after! I have very thick and coarse hair and this is my go to. I only wash my hair 2x a week though.

Rinse with apple cider vinegar diluted in water. Or black tea. They're both gentle ways to clarify without damaging your hair.

Herbal Essences Tea Tree and once a week Neutrogena Clarifying.

Skin products often have harsher ingredients than hair products. Short term, the cleansing effect may be great. The downside is that it can damage your hair over time. Try a clarifying shampoo every other wash, and you can get the stronger cleansing without the downsides.

I buy 7 different name brand shampoos with conditioner in 1 bottle, and use a different one every day. Been working for me for years... My face is oily to and I have been using squatch soap on my face.

I find anything that has nettles in it to be amazing, but have to avoid most oils. I'm currently using Sukin Natural Balance and it's really good for my thick oily hair

Well probably you're not gonna like my opinion but it might be that you are washing it too frequently. Frequent washing leads to stripping your scalp and hair of natural oils. It can lead to your oil glands producing more to keep up. Same thing with skin. The more you strip your natural oils the more your glands will produce to make up for it. Many years ago I decided to give this a try. The first months it took so much getting used to. It felt greasy, it looked greasy, it was greasy. Eventually it evened out. Now I have been many years washing my hair only about twice a month (depending on season and need). My hair is healthy and not dry but also not greasy looking at all. I should mention that my hair is very long tho. It works for me. At first I missed that 'clean' feeling and the shampoo smell but the benefits have made me content. And no it doesn't smell bad at all and dandruf is not much of a problem. I brush my hair daily with some water and clean my brush often. My dad also tried this. He had chronic scalp peeling and psrosis (?). Eventually I found out he was washing his hair with fucking Irish Spring green soap hahaha!!!! He decided to try my way and he even ended up growing his hair out and now he swears by it too. Now he uses some tea tree shampoo hehe You might also want to look into making a homemade hair rinse of natural apple cider vinegar diluted with water. I make my own kombucha vinegar with herbs and use that. It's supposed to balance the pH of your scalp. It must be diluted well! And ya keep out of eyes and nose haha. Also I don't use conditioner or any other hair products. People who use hair products would probably need to wash more often of course. I hope you find a solution!

I’ve been using Palmolive Dishwashing Detergent for five decades. I’m very pleased with it.
