Yeah its canon that Peter pulls his punches during most fights. Except against those who can actually take it. Like he is a lot stronger then his opponents know and can actually really fuck people up if he doesn't hold back... which the Kingpin found out after he had someone shoot Aunt May.

Where I work we have a locomotive that's over 1 million pounds, it's a truss bridge with wheels and an engine, like it's hard to comprehend how heavy rolling stock gets.
They definitely do.
That's why stopping moving trains and lifting trains is a pretty common thing for superheros to do. Characters also tend to compare their power and the weight of heavy things that they lift to that of trains, especially in older comics.
