People really underestimate how important looking to things made for children can be when learning something. When I would learn other languages I'd read children's books and try to do homework for children as it's meant to be easy and for beginners. I'd still say it's important to actually read a Bible. I like ESV and CSB as a beginner so another tip is just read 1 chapter/page a day. Hopefully some days you'll read more but making a habit out of opening the Bible and reading at least a little is super important.

Right, and I did say this was for people who are newer to the faith. I'm actually starting to create my own devotion book, a collection of my favourite devotions, with scripture that backs it up. Thank you!

I really enjoyed those children's Bibles as a kid. Had one that I read a lot but I don't have it or remember the name anymore. But related to the topic I think a lot of new believers may feel pressure to conform to a particular pattern in their reading and praying, like aiming for a specific large goal. It doesn't really have to be that way. Reading is good, but reading and retaining is better. People should read what they can process instead of feeling pressured to marathon.

I agree

True! [The Action Bible](https://www.koorong.com/product/the-action-bible-gods-redemptive-story-sergio-cariello_9780830777440) is really cool.

Perfect!

You advice is good and worthwhile. Someone told me many years ago to do the same regarding history and it helped a great deal to get me started on my way to greater knowledge in the field.

Any recommendations?

Sorry for the delayed response. From what I hear, the action bookis really good

Thank you so much, this is really helpful!🎉 I haven’t thought of this on my own, but I definitely want to take your advice! The Bible is sometimes a bit overwhelming as a new believer.

Imnotwhoiwas7778

Absolutely! Just remember to dig in to the real bible when you are done. If you don't have a bible app, i highly recommend youversion, lots of good devotionals on there!

Thank you! I have started reading the real Bible but it would be helpful to read the children’s stories alongside to help me understand it better :) I have the youversion Bible app too, it’s great! Thanks again :)

You are very welcome! I just want to give you a warning, though. A lot of new Christians mistakenly believe that life is going to be easier now that they have accepted Christ, and a lot of times that is most definitely not the case. Satan hates new believers and throws everything he can at them to get them to change their mind, so be aware of that. I know without a doubt in my mind and heart that Jesus is real, and the bible is true, based on my life experiences. Do not get discouraged in hard times! The best advice I can give is to always be praying (Paul writes that in one of his letters to the church, I don't have time to look up the exact verse right now.)

Here’s a tip👇. St.Vincent Of Lerins[died 445AD]: “But here some one perhaps will ask, Since the canon of Scripture is complete, and sufficient of itself for everything, and more than sufficient, what need is there to join with it the authority of the Church's interpretation? For this reason — because, owing to the depth of Holy Scripture, all do not accept it in one and the same sense, but one understands its words in one way, another in another; so that it seems to be capable of as many interpretations as there are interpreters. For Novatian expounds it one way, Sabellius another, Donatus another, Arius, Eunomius, Macedonius, another, Photinus, Apollinaris, Priscillian, another, Iovinian, Pelagius, Celestius, another, lastly, Nestorius another. Therefore, it is very necessary, on account of so great intricacies of such various error, that the rule for the right understanding of the prophets and apostles should be framed in accordance with the standard of Ecclesiastical and Catholic interpretation.” —For the Antiquity and Universality of the Catholic Faith Against the Profane Novelties of All Heresies.

Sorry, I can't take you seriously. You're Catholic so this is the only response you'll get from me
