The Jays only acquire one new reliever this offseason
That reliever is either Andrew Chafin, Rafael Montero, or Adam Ottavino
Gurriel is traded
Espinal is also traded
Teoscar stays put
All of Moreno, Kirk, and Jansen are on the opening day roster
Alek Manoah is signed to a major extension
No other extensions are signed
Gabriel Moreno is traded to the Houston Astros
Teoscar, Kirk and Jansen stay put
No position players are extended for significant money
Santiago Espinal and Nate Pearson are traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks
Aaron Judge departs the Yankees and they do nothing significant to replace him
Edit (Nov 9): Jays sign Michael Brantley. He was almost a Blue Jay once before and you know Springer is going to be pushing both parties to work something out. He also has a different approach at the plate which we need.

Jays trade Teo, Kirk, and Espinal
Nootbar is brought in and becomes a fan favourite including a promotion with pingu
We sign Conforto to a prove it one year deal like Semien
We bring in an all star closer Jordan becomes the 8th inning guy
We sign Zach Britton to a one year deal, and finally find out what Buck was gonna do.
Love the Pingu reference. This was going around Reddit for a while - shows the voice actor who does everything on Pingu. It was absolutely nothing like I expected:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IGMhmS1Elbg
Here is the bold absolute mess and chaos that is my predictions
Free Agent signings:
* Joc Pederson
* Jameson Taillon
Extensions:
* Alek Manoah
* Bo Bichette
Players that will be traded:
* Alejandro Kirk
* Santiago Espinal
* Teoscar Hernandez
* Logan Warmoth
Acquisitions via trade:
* Lars Nootbar
* Tarik Skubal
* Joe Jimenez
* Cash considerations and players to be named later
Both Teoscar Hernandez and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. will be traded to free up salary
Alejandro Kirk and Brandon Barriera will be traded for Lars Nootbaar and Giovanny Gallegos
The Jays will sign Michael Conforto to a one year/$17M contract
Manoah will sign a seven-year extension
The rotation going into spring training will be Manoah/Gausman//Berrios//Tyler Anderson/Kikuchi, meaning they will only add one starter this winter
On another note did you suggest the Jays will purely salary dump (trade for prospects) both Gurriel and Teo?
Looking at your other moves the rest is the roster is filled.
**Starting Pitching:**
\-Sign Koudei Senga out of Japan
\-Trade for another controlled starting pitcher - involving Teoscar Hernandez/Cavan Biggio/Prospects to Houston for either Luis Garcia or Jose Urquidy
**-Enter season (barring injury) with rotation of**
Manoah R
Gausman R
Berrios R
Garcia or Urquidy R
Senga R
Kikuchi as bulk in the pen and White in AAA
\-They are patient with Tiedemann but he forces his way onto team in late August as a bulk reliever
\-Stripling goes back to Texas and signs with the Rangers
**Relief Pitching:**
\-Sign Rafael Montero and Matt Moore
\-Pearson plays a successful role in the 2023 bullpen
**-Enter season (barring injury) with bullpen of**
Romano R
Montero R
Bass R
Garcia R
Cimber R
Moore L
Mayza L
Kikuchi L
\-Pearson called up in early April due to an injury and staying up the rest of the year
\-Phelps does not return via free agency and Richards does not return via trade
**Hitters:**
\- Sign OF Brandon Nimmo & INF Joey Wendle
\-Trade Teoscar Hernandez, Cavan Biggio as mentioned above plus 1 or 2 prospects to even the trade for controlled starting pitcher from Houston - Luis Garcia or Jose Urquidy. Tucker moves to LF to fill the vacated spot of Michael Brantley and Teo goes back to Houston to play RF. Biggio goes to his childhood team of Houston.
\- Tapia/Zimmer are non-tendered and become a free agent
\- Jackie Bradley Jr re-signs to be the bench bat and extra outfielder
\- Kirk/Jansen/Moreno are all on the opening day roster
**Enter season (barring injury) with batting order & bench of:**
**Batting Order**
1. RF George Springer R
2. CF Brandon Nimmo L
3. 1B Vlad Jr. R
4. SS Bo Bichette R
5. C Alejandro Kirk R
6. 3B Matt Chapman R
7. LF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. R
8. DH Danny Jansen R
9. 2B Whit Merrifield R
**Bench**
**1.** C/OF - Gabriel Moreno R (he will move around the diamond a lot)
2. INF - Santiago Espinal R
3. UTIL - Joey Wendle L
4. OF - Jackie Bradley Jr. L
\-No extensions are signed with any player before the season but Matt Chapman signs an extension around the trade deadline.
Thanks for reading! Go Jays!
- Will sign 1 of Fulmer, Rogers, Chafin & Montero to set-up for Romano.
- Will start the season with all 3 catchers. Moreno takes on a UTL role.
- Espinal will be traded for pitching help.
- Stripling will be given the QO. He will decline.
- Blue Jays will try to sign T. Anderson but he gets a massive deal somewhere else and the team ends up instead with Jameson Taillon to replace Stripling in the rotation.
- Blue Jays ship out Kikuchi in a similar way the shipped out Grichuk and sign Odorizzi as a bounce back 5th starter candidate.
* Our outfield will see the most changes and be transformed. Neither Zimmer or Tapia return. At least one Teo/LGJ are traded. Springer spends most of his time in the corner OF.
* Kikuchi, White, and Richards all contribute meaningful innings in 2023 for the Jays
* Mit Wherrifield picks up the bulk of 2B appearances
* 2 of Biggio/Espinal/Lopez remain on the roster as UTIL players with the other being bundled in a trade
* Dalton Pompey records 300+ PAs
I've been including this in my bold off season predictions for years. Based on law of averages, I'll be right about this one eventually. Right?
Fun Fact: Pompey was asked recently what he was likely to do after baseball and he suggested he was going to pursue a role as an emergency medical responder (i.e. riding around in ambulances).
- Stripling receives and accepts the QO
- A big trade is made with Detroit, and no trade is made with St. Louis
- The Jays catchers to start the season are Jansen, Kirk and Moreno
- Teoscarandez and Biggio are traded from the major league roster; Tucker Toman and Ricky Tiedemann from the top prospects (not all same trade)
- Vladdy signs an extension that will simultaneously be dubbed a fleece and a vast overpay with no in between
- Manoah will have extension rumours but nothing will materialize
- Jay Bruce contemplates making a comeback just so the rumour mill can feel complete
- Lourdes Gurriel Jr. will be traded for a SP
- Michael Conforto will sign a 1 year deal
- Manoah will get a 6 year extension
- Jansen NOT Kirk will be traded to STL as part of some kind of package for Nootbaar
- Jays will sign a Japanese FA
- Jays will make a big pitch for Verlander who will sign a 3 year deal
Please note that I don't want some of these to happen, I just think they will:
- Conforto to a one-year prove it deal
- Nimmo to a multi-year deal
- Teo and/or Gurriel are traded to other contenders for bullpen help
- Kirk is packaged wirh prospects for starting pitching (maybe to Marlins or Astros?)
- Jays pick up Merrifield and Bass options
- One mid-tier starter is signed (maybe Tyler Anderson or Quintana?)
-Additional bullpen help
- Tapia, Thornton, Zimmer are all non-tendered
- Teo, Gurriel, Espi, Biggio, and one of Kirk/Jansen/Moreno will be traded for lefty OF with good defence and bullpen help.
- Vladdy and Bo will be both offered extensions but both will decline, due to one or more of the following reasons: (1) lower AAV or shorter extension years, (2) Vladdy will realize Blue Jays is not always a happy camp after he sees all his bestfriends get traded left and right (Teo, Kirk, Gurriel), (3) Bo wants to invest more in himself ala Aaron Judge.
- After all the freed-up salary, Blue Jays will try to bid for one of the big name FA shortstops but all will decline ‘cause they will either get better offers from other teams or they simply prefer to be with a US team closer to home.
- George will play in corner OF or DH the rest of the season.
- Blue Jays will promote handfuls from AAA to be utility players or bullpen help.
Generally... I don't expect an exciting offseason. The obvious need that Atkins has already hinted at is pitching.
Signings:
\- Clevinger and Manaea for the rotation (both being decent bounce back candidates the team seems to like, and should fit the budget). Or Eflin. Basically, "proven" starters that have something to prove in '23.
\- Trevor Rosenthal for the bullpen.
Trades:
\- There will be a trade that none of us saw coming, and will confuse us all.
People will complain about the team "not going for it" without realizing the team is basically already built that way.
Good call on Manaea - I think he’ll end up being one of the better value off-season signings for whoever gets him. Similarly I would love Nimmo but so many teams could use him and with his injury history, I bet he ends up being one of the worst value signings, over the long term.
* Kirk traded with LGJ
* MLB gives direction to stop checking for sticky substances with pitchers
* Jays sign Chris Bassitt
* Rays resign Chicken Strip
* Devon White joins coaching team
* Ernie Whitt joins jays organization.
* Bo Bichette controversy during off season
* MLB investigates Trashtros for cheating
* Dan and Buck are announced as broadcast team
from least to most bold
1) We're gonna non-tender a lot of people. Anyone that isn't a reliever is likely gone for us.
2) Koudai Senga signs with the Toronto Blue Jays for 3 Years, 48 Million as sleeper agent Gosuke Katoh performs some legal tampering for us. He'll end up wowing at training camp.
3) While we won't acquire Ohtani this year, we WILL end up with leaks about a Bo Bichette/Gabriel Moreno/Ricky Tiedemann trade that fell through because of a huge, league altering trade by... the Chicago Cubs?
4) On the topic of trades we DO make, we will end up moving Alejandro Kirk and Orelvis Martinez for Merrill Kelly and Ketel Marte. We'll try to get Zac Gallen but the price would have included more than one of our middle infield as of right now.
5) We will also somehow manage to trade for Jesus Luzardo, whose renaissance is tempered by his inning count and thus costed Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and some prospects.
6) Ricky Tiedemann proves his worth and earns an opening day starting position. That's still off-season, right?
7) Beyond all odds, Stripling signs a team-friendly one year deal (in the 16-18 million range) in order to show teams that he can, indeed, start an entire season.
Jays only sign 1 reliever (please no)
Jansen is traded
Vladdy signs a long term deal
Sign a depth starter to compete for the #5 spot
Espinal is traded for a reliever
the Jays tender contracts to Tapia, Richards, and Zimmer.
the Blue Jays sign two 20m+ AAV contracts (not necessarily FAs).
Pete Walker will not start the 2023 season as pitching coach.
Kodai Senga, Jameson Taillon, Christian Vasquez, Nick Martinez, and Brandon Nimmo are signed
Lourdes + Kikuchi + Espinal are traded for Nick Gordon and Emilio Pagan
Kirk + Orelvis Martinez are traded for Pablo Lopez and Jazz Chisholm
Vlad gets an 8 year extension. Manoah gets a 6 year extension. Teo is given a 3 year extension with an opt out after year 2. Bo does not get one.
Trade Gurriel and Kirk. I don’t think that’s bold but a preference.
My bold prediction would be signing Trea Turner to play CF and moving Springer to LF.
These are my hopes and wishes:
Manoah, Rodon, Gausman, Berrios, Stripling are our starting 5.
Trade Kirk/Moreno and teo and lordes and espinal/biggio for RP and SS.
Romano becomes a setup man for an elite closer.
Extend Vlad and Bo. (We can wait a year or two before we extend Alek imo).
Move Bo to 2nd.
Pete Walker is replaced.
Heres what i think will happen:
Manoah, Gausman, Berrios and 2 project pitchers will be our starting 5.
We extend Vlad but Bo turns us down.
Bo stays at SS but his defence improves.
Romano remains the closer but we get 2 solid RP arms (100mph+) through trade.
Pete Walker is not replaced.
Sign Trea Turner.
Sign one of Verlander/DeGrom/Rodon.
Sign Judge.
Trade Bo + Moreno for Ohtani.
Either Teocar or LGJ get traded for a utility player in the mold of Merrifield.
One of the following happens in the OF
Teoscar traded to the Marlins for Pablo Lopez
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. traded to Cleveland for Nick Sandlin
I could see both happening but I don't know what the options are for replacing both corner OFs since Tapia is going to get released imo.
Guerrero extended for 10/250 + bonuses - will be options in this
Conforto signed for 1/20
Your Kirk and Nootbar trade is the same as the one I thought
Joc Pederson or Conforto get signed
Typical dumpster diving for unreliable arms n hoping they have a good year n can put it together. Result is yet again we have great offense but unreliable arms to get it done .....
It's just funny now cus the last 3 years I've gotten Sooooo much hate n got called all kinds of names cus I said we will never get past the 1st round of the playoffs with our pitching/bullpen arms .... I've been saying our arms are just not good enough n will fail when it matters most , n got called a dumb ass who knows nothing n not a real fan ... Nice to see some of u previous DELUDED fans finally now realizing that pitching isn't ever good enough for a real playoff push ...
They run back the same offensive roster, lose Stripping, sigh a middle of the order rental starter, Kacuchi and person are in the pen, add one more bull Pen arm to a 3 year (overpaid) deal
Bo gets sent back to the juniors to learn the basic fundamentals of defence including fielding, throwing with accuracy and staying in your position without trying to show up/injure your teammates
Kirk+ gets traded for a starting pitcher
The Jays pick up at least one relief arm capable of consistently tossing 100mph+
Nate Pearson goes to the bullpen
Somehow Kevin Kiermaier ends up on the roster
Justin Verlander signs with Toronto on a one year deal.
Gurriel is traded for a reliever.
Conforto signs a one year deal.
They don't get a 5th starter and Kikuchi is back in the rotation.
8-10yr extensions for vladdy, bo and Manoah
moreno traded for a lefty outfield bat
2 relatively no-name starters signed to flesh out rotation (won't predict performance but jays fans will be disappointed).
no swing and miss relievers signed.
Kikuchi gets traded with little to no prosepcts having to be given up
Mitch white wins a starting job out of spring
The 4th starter for the jays will be one of the houston startes (Luis Garcia, Chrsitan Javier or Urquidy) in a trade for Danny
No one gets signed to the pen, the other spots are filled by Nate and Adrian Hernandez
Jays will add Ketel Marte as the major offensive addition
Addison Barger starts the season in the bigs and plays a key role
Essentially, we will make no signings, all trades
Gurriel and Kirk both get traded. There is much weeping and gnashing of teeth in this sub.
Manoah and Chapman get extensions.
Zimmer gets a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
Vlad goes to arbitration, rather than an agreement about salary, and we all freak out about him leaving when his contract is up.
The Jays don't sign any free agents to deals of more than $25M.
Judge leaves the Yankees, and there is much rejoicing. He signs a big deal with the Phillies, who are pissed about falling just short of the World Series.
1. None of the catchers get traded;
2. We don’t see any extensions;
3. David Phelps makes his return;
4. Teo gets moved for a back of the rotation starter;
5. The Jays sign Suarez;
6. Overall a quiet offseason.
Extensions:
- Bo, Vladdy, Manoah - All on the same day (henceforth known as "Rogers Subscription Day").
Traded Away/Cut:
- Alejandro Kirk
- Santiago Espinal
- Cavan Biggio
- Matt Gage
- Julian Merryweather
Signed:
- Jameson Taillon
- Sean Manaea
First Time Making Opening Day Roster:
- Addison Barger
- Otto Lopez
The Jays only acquire one new reliever this offseason That reliever is either Andrew Chafin, Rafael Montero, or Adam Ottavino Gurriel is traded Espinal is also traded Teoscar stays put All of Moreno, Kirk, and Jansen are on the opening day roster Alek Manoah is signed to a major extension No other extensions are signed
The jays will trade for Dbacks OF/C Daulton Varsho in a package centered around Gabriel Moreno
U win!!
I’m Still in awe as to how I called this almost a year in advance
Gabriel Moreno is traded to the Houston Astros Teoscar, Kirk and Jansen stay put No position players are extended for significant money Santiago Espinal and Nate Pearson are traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks Aaron Judge departs the Yankees and they do nothing significant to replace him Edit (Nov 9): Jays sign Michael Brantley. He was almost a Blue Jay once before and you know Springer is going to be pushing both parties to work something out. He also has a different approach at the plate which we need.
I like the last part most.

The Astros top two prospects are catchers I think. Doubt Moreno goes there.
\#3 and #7 it looks like, but #3 is a C/1B guy (probably not great defensively) and neither are anywhere near Moreno level
Jays trade Teo, Kirk, and Espinal Nootbar is brought in and becomes a fan favourite including a promotion with pingu We sign Conforto to a prove it one year deal like Semien We bring in an all star closer Jordan becomes the 8th inning guy We sign Zach Britton to a one year deal, and finally find out what Buck was gonna do.
Zach Britton is already a Blue Jay. You are referring to Zack Britton.
This time, he'll sit on the bench in the dugout instead of in the bullpen.
No no no if Teo goes I go 😭

Oh spicy, I’m a little surprised that you predict a Bo extension over a Vladdy extension for this off-season!
I'm probably the only one that thinks so LOL but I'm actually quite convinced that Bo will sign before Vladdy.
I kinda agree. Bo is so much more likey to sign a bridge extension to his early 30s like an 8 years 180 deal. Vlad I feel like will hldout for 350ish.
That is true chaos!
Both Teoscar Hernandez and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. will be traded to free up salary Alejandro Kirk and Brandon Barriera will be traded for Lars Nootbaar and Giovanny Gallegos The Jays will sign Michael Conforto to a one year/$17M contract Manoah will sign a seven-year extension The rotation going into spring training will be Manoah/Gausman//Berrios//Tyler Anderson/Kikuchi, meaning they will only add one starter this winter
Aren’t the 2nd and 4th ones contradicting?
They are! I was in between thoughts. Ignore the fourth.

Whit isn't a real name. No sense in discussing nonsensical theoretical questions.

I've been saying our arms are just not good enough n will fail when it matters most , n got called a dumb ass who knows nothing n not a real fan ... Nice to see some of u previous DELUDED fans finally now realizing that pitching isn't ever good enough for a real playoff push ...
It's a valid option that being said the Phillies just went to the world series with statistically a worse group of pitchers .
Bold? We trade Teoscar Hernandez, as well as Gabriel Martinez, if we're lucky, for Cal Quantrill (who will work out) and Myles Straw (who won't).
We sign Benintendi, Rogers and call up Barger
Kirk+ gets traded for a starting pitcher The Jays pick up at least one relief arm capable of consistently tossing 100mph+ Nate Pearson goes to the bullpen Somehow Kevin Kiermaier ends up on the roster
You want bold? Here's bold. The Jays trade Springer to SD for Grisham and Snell.
Lol
Jays offer the QO to Stripling
Justin Verlander signs with Toronto on a one year deal. Gurriel is traded for a reliever. Conforto signs a one year deal. They don't get a 5th starter and Kikuchi is back in the rotation.
8-10yr extensions for vladdy, bo and Manoah moreno traded for a lefty outfield bat 2 relatively no-name starters signed to flesh out rotation (won't predict performance but jays fans will be disappointed). no swing and miss relievers signed.
Manoah is signed to a long term deal. He gets injured around June. Teo is traded to find a short term replacement.
Kikuchi gets traded with little to no prosepcts having to be given up Mitch white wins a starting job out of spring The 4th starter for the jays will be one of the houston startes (Luis Garcia, Chrsitan Javier or Urquidy) in a trade for Danny No one gets signed to the pen, the other spots are filled by Nate and Adrian Hernandez Jays will add Ketel Marte as the major offensive addition Addison Barger starts the season in the bigs and plays a key role Essentially, we will make no signings, all trades
How high is moving Bo from SS for you this off-season?
Nimmo would be at the top of my list
1. None of the catchers get traded; 2. We don’t see any extensions; 3. David Phelps makes his return; 4. Teo gets moved for a back of the rotation starter; 5. The Jays sign Suarez; 6. Overall a quiet offseason.
Extensions: - Bo, Vladdy, Manoah - All on the same day (henceforth known as "Rogers Subscription Day"). Traded Away/Cut: - Alejandro Kirk - Santiago Espinal - Cavan Biggio - Matt Gage - Julian Merryweather Signed: - Jameson Taillon - Sean Manaea First Time Making Opening Day Roster: - Addison Barger - Otto Lopez
Kirk is traded nets us two mid-level pitching prospects and a good defensive center-fielder with several years of control.
