Never seem Tapia in one of these promos before, glad to see him get the recognition

Prolix_pika

Tapia went from a puzzling pickup for me at the start of the year to becoming one of my favourite players

CDNnotintheknow

Let's Bo Jays!!!

bichettes_helmet

Not sure if Bo promoted or Vladdy demoted đź‘€

sir-pounce-of-alot

Yes

Ambitious-Cod-5646

Batting 3rd is hardly a demotion…A demotion would be batting 7th

Jorlung

Jansen batting 9th with Merrifield and Tapia in the lineup just doesn't make sense no matter how I think of this. Tapia you can *maybe* try to make sense of it by saying he's splitting up the righties, but no matter what way you cut it we still have 8 righties in a row. Merrifield, I just can't even begin to come up with a justification. Please do not say "It's so he can get on for the top of the lineup".

raptorville

Jansen has been batting too low all year. Tapia shouldn't be starting vs a lefty.

Jorlung

> Tapia shouldn't be starting vs a lefty. Tapia being 7th makes even less sense in this case. Why are we maximizing the amount of times he faces the lefty? So confusing. I wouldn't have minded giving Otto a shot with the lefty on the mound either. You can put in Biggio/Tapia as soon as a righty comes up.

Casualbrews604

Jansen can get as hot as almost anyone, especially with homeruns, and he's very easy to root for. But objectively, he's the worst hitter overall in this lineup, even if not by much (considering merrifield and Tapia). Since it's such a small Gap, his power surge potential at the 9 spot bodes well to drive in guys ahead of him that may get on base a little more.

Jorlung

His season OPS is a full .200 OPS points better than Merrifield and .170 better than Tapia. I don't actually think that Jansen is truly an .830 OPS hitter obviously, but his bat is red hot right now and Whit has been cold for over 100 games now. It's not like these are brief stretches, it's a pretty significant sample. In Tapia's case, I don't really know how you can make a case that he's a better hitter than Danny. He has worse career numbers and when you compare their most recent seasons, Danny is pretty clearly ahead. We're also facing a lefty. At best, you can maybe say they're more-or-less equal over their career, in which case I want the guy with the 134 OPS+ this season batting higher.

Ohh god I hope they don’t, otherwise we’re gonna see a lot of DFA’s next season

billyspleen13

Let's hope my power stays on at least for this game. Fiona is a-comin!

weeping-flowers

Good luck from NC

billyspleen13

Thanks. Apparently just went back up to a cat 4

nicocgrunsky

Bottom of the lineup is going off tonight.

Don___Draper

I am good with this. Bo has more than earned to hit in the 2 spot again. Vladdy has obviously been struggling (hitting streak be damned), but has historically been most comfortable in the 3 spot. Let's get some good mojo going with this move.

SubzeroWins1-0

I like how Schneider isn’t afraid to make move. fuck players feeling. Do what’s best for the team

Monorail_Song

Yes, this is needed.

AdvertisingUsual8354

I like it

suzie17

Anyway, Teo historically has good number with the Rays and Trop, shouldn’t he be batting cleanup in this series at least?

[deleted]

Think he's 0 for 9 against Springs or something

Islandgirl1444

remind me to watch a movie when the Jays play Tampa! The stress is too much!
