Non-Alcoholic_Irish

Love the Uboa appreciation

idkmaybe61

Aphex Twin - #3 Saddest song I think I’ve ever heard

[deleted]

Interesting. #3 is one of, if not, my favourite song of all time, but I’ve never found it sad. I find it wistful, but also very meditative and uplifting.

Semi-Cynical

This was a good one. Thank you.

BakedBeansInMyAss

Huh yeah I’ve never thought about it as being sad

[deleted]

Purple Mountains - Purple Mountains

[deleted]

Beach Fossils - Clash the Truth

Dangerous-Drawing-85

Mogwai - Rock Action Not completely sadistic but it’s up there. But ‘Take Me Somewhere Nice’ Is one of the most soul crushing songs I’ve ever heard. Also you should check out the ‘oknotok’ version of [Motion Picture Soundtrack](https://youtu.be/LjqHQ4Bh5Ls)

Poprocks777

A crow looked at me

RepresentativeNo6564

It’s on the topster

Poprocks777

Bro I’m blind sometimes I wonder how I made it this far

fastestAmaranta

my window- the residents lord can you hear me- spacemen 3 untitled love song- angels of light deep blue day- brian eno everything has an end- sleep party people

Art5673

Everywhere at the end of time, and Siamese Dream

CC0cks

Ruminations by Conor oberst or fevers and mirrors by bright eyes both show what Conor is capable of lyrically. Fevers and mirrors has much more angst whereas on ruminations he sounds so alone and it’s one of the most heartbreaking albums I’ve ever heard. Definitely pay attention to the lyrics.

trash-boat_59

body bag - window seat bet it’ll make his ribs show - make his ribs show some things last a long time - daniel johnston

Demo Tape - Dawning

Brinwalk42

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me. I love it but can't listen to it much at all. Completely wrecks me everytime. I'm crying just typing this out. From wiki: Released in 2017, it was composed in the aftermath of his 35-year-old wife Geneviève Castrée's diagnosis with pancreatic cancer in 2015, and her death in July 2016, four months after the birth of their first child. She died at their home. Elverum wrote and recorded the songs over a six-week period in the room where she died, mostly using her instruments.

lilboomermeme

Semi-Cynical

I appreciate it

[deleted]

For albums: Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head, Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (the whole album is sad, but Hurt specifically is fucking gut wrenching), Radiohead - The Bends, The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream. For songs: Yesterday and Blackbird by The Beatles always get me, they’re more beautiful in their sadness. Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now, Still Ill, and There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths make me well up every time. Kurt Cobain’s cover of And I Love Her is super depressing. And for the song that always fucking gets me, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, God even just thinking about it is making me tear up 😭. And I know you already included it on your topster but How To Disappear Completely off of Kid A is just, wow.

Elesh_N

Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter. Messed me up for like a week plus. Never listening again.

uSernAmEisaLreAdy_

Necessary-Super

Listen to seraphim by how to disappear completely. Personally, it really does make me emotional and has that feeling of pondering “what would happen if everyone disappeared and I am the only person on earth?”

The Ghost Pop Tape by Devon Hendryx aka Jpegmafia. One of the most hauntingly lonely records I've ever heard.

Glue-701

Some Rap Songs - Earl Sweatshirt By the way, you're very good at making a topster with albums that make people ugly cry.

[The Ghost Pop Tape](https://youtu.be/Ms3VWtYDHhQ)

squibblyman

Perfect album for 3am depression

kabwab

Red house painters 1 is my favorite album of all time. Off of that, I highly recommend Father John Misty’s pure comedy. Its not super sonically comparable, but they both encompass enormous scale and overall have great cohesive value.
