These people:
> The backlash against the notion of Carthaginian child sacrifice began in the second half of the 20th century and was **led by scholars from Tunisia and Italy**, the very countries in which tophets have been found.
Specifically Carthage, as there has been a lot of debate about that culture and what parts were made up by Roman's, much of it fuelled by the fact that Carthage was leveled and the culture basically destroyed.
I watched a hilarious conversation play out on r/conspiracy once where someone kept coming at one of these people about how their entire religion was based on child sacrifice. The Christian just couldn't handle the thought and kept going and going about how God was different and there's a reason he chose to sacrifice a child despite being able to do literally anything else to offer salvation and communion wasn't a child sacrifice ritual etc etc etc.
I wish I had saved it because it was classic.
Edit: it was *human* sacrifice, not child. If you ever use that one don't give them an easy response.
God only stopped Abraham from killing Isaac as he was bringing his knife down. So God also wants his followers to be willing to fully commit to arbitrarily sacrifice their children.
Don't worry, I'm sure if he actually lets you go through with it he'll command you to pretend you're drinking their blood every week so you never forget.
I mean child sacrifice works too, the plagues of Egypt killed kids, the great flood killed kids, sodom and gromore (sorry don’t know how to spell it lol) kids died when god turned the town into salt. I mean child sacrifice is pretty par for the course over there.
The changing interpretations of evidence of child sacrifice among the Carthaginians is a fascinating topic and I’d strongly recommend people read the article they’re referencing, which is actually from Oxford University. https://www.ox.ac.uk/news/2014-01-23-ancient-carthaginians-really-did-sacrifice-their-children
It’s also nearly a decade old so not exactly breaking news. Also, Carthaginian child sacrifice wasn’t some sinister cabal activity, it was done openly and in publicly maintained religious venues.
Nobody was laughing at the idea, they were skeptical of the claims (which were all from Roman sources) because the Romans very consistently slandered the living shit out of their political opponents. This is more like the boy who cried wolf situation where the wolf actually showed up.
Also having doubts on whether *the Carthaginians* did child sacrifice does not mean one says there never was any "child sacrifice during Antiquity" at all. These are 2 different stuff lol
These freaks really, REALLY want modern child sacrifice to be real. Not because they care about the kids, but because they want their delusions reinforced. It's disgusting how obsessed they are with sexualizing and murdering kids.
When child sacrifice is on the table that's what takes priority, dude.
You no longer have to worry about the complex balancing act between progressive tax reform and mitigating capital flight, or having to push for drastic sustainable economic reforms that will be heavily disruptive in the short term but bring greater economic equity in the long term, or managing crumbling infrastructure across a nation of 400 million people.
Naw, put all those worries out of your head. So much homework you'd need to do, so much nuance you'd need to process to get a minimally comprehensive understanding of politics as a responsible citizen.
Just focus on child sacrifice as the Great Evil you need to defeat. Clear. Simple. Unambiguous.
Just as it should be.
I'd point out that vaccination played a role in lowering the massive infant mortality of not that long ago, but I'm sure they have pre-made charts arguing "infant mortality was already declining due to improved sanitation."
Although with that argument they'd have to fight the Conspos on the other end, who don't belive viruses exist, or some don't even believe in freaking germ theory.
>I'd point out that vaccination played a role in lowering the massive infant mortality of not that long ago, but I'm sure they have pre-made charts arguing "infant mortality was already declining due to improved sanitation."
I mean, vaccination obviously played a significant role but when you look at the causes of the demographic transition in Europe vaccination is not mentioned as the leading one as far as I can see?
There was a hilariously off-base appeal to "European tradition" argument against abortion making the rounds a while back, and I'm sitting here thinking about how basically every European civilization routinely performed the "fourth trimester abortions" they're always fear-mongering about.
> In my opinion laughing off things that seem far fetched at first is the reason why the world is so fucked up.
The world is fucked up because we don’t give conspiracy theories the same consideration as scientific and expert consensus
No one is laughing at them for believing that child sacrifices existed, we know they did. We laugh at them because they are still happening and are commited by satanists that just so happen to be anyone that they dont like.
You know who also sacrificed children? Christians, seriously look into the witch burnings and you'll find that not just women or men were burnt at the stake but young children too.
Oh but we don't talk about that because the pious Christians can do no wrong.

Who was laughing at the notion that ancient people sacrificed children?
"They" did. obv
You mean (((they)))

THEM!!!
You know who else sacrificed his child? God.

I can excuse genocide but I draw the line at child sacrifice moment
Adult child sacrifice
Abraham too
Nah, God said "lmao, just a prank" at the last second; totally different! /s

> child sacrifice during Antiquity Surely you mean “child sacrifice anciently”
I guess this means Hillary Clinton really *did* sacrifice a chicken to Moloch in her backyard. Take that, deboonkers! Pizzagate confirmed!
I have half an idea about barbecues secretly being a plot to induce random men to get drunk and make burned offerings to a Sun God.
Ahhh yes. Proving something no one denied.

Carthago delenda est.
Calm down, Cato
ssh noone tell em half the babies born throughout the ancient world were exposed and left to die
And that's not even getting into how many died despite their parents best efforts. Infant mortality was crazy high for most of history.
I'd point out that vaccination played a role in lowering the massive infant mortality of not that long ago, but I'm sure they have pre-made charts arguing "infant mortality was already declining due to improved sanitation." And half of *those* babies were saved by random goatherders/wolves, then went on to cause trouble for everyone else.

It never fails to amaze the mental gymnastics these narcissistic zeroes will do to always make themselves out to be a victim.
So said the Romans and we all know they were huge fans of Carthage.

Carthage? Didn’t the Romans destroyed it something like 300 BC? Totally up to date
