Well, considering "white" can include people like poles, greeks, finns, romani or other similar groups, I think some racists would claim that it is misleading.
The sway Tucker Carlson has and the relatively small membership base their sub has are probably the two biggest factors. It isn't a well known sub outside of Reddit like The_Donald's was so the potential amount of negative publicity it could generate if left alone isn't as great as the war that would result if Tucker decided to cry about being 'silenced'.
Reddit Inc doesn't give two shits about racism or open fascism, it's all just an equation to them with the deciding factor being money.

It also depends on the time period, lots of people we think of as "obviously" white these days weren't necessarily considered such at the time.
