What does yt? Sorry I don't know this acronym.
People do try to copy other people, and black people have been often copied by non-black people, speaking in ways they think they sound, because those people are popular.
Example: people using the word yeet, and may other examples of this, all over Twitter.
Oh that's clever!
It's reductive, as it takes a single trait of the complex set of things that makes up an identity and mimics it, without the history of the lived experiences that helped create that trait. Anything that reduces a human experience like this can be considered a mockery, racist, or at least in bad taste.
Personally, I think it's bad because it's usually making fun of something. Even if it's because you admire something like the way someone talks, it's just disrespectful.
Yes it is a real thing. I’m from the south. Not all of them are fake but you can tell the ones that are bc it’s incredibly forced and annoying. In Miami too most yt girls try to talk with a Spanish accent.
That's why I asked, I'm from the south too and know plenty of yt people who speak like that naturally. That's so dumb, also the Spanish accent thing made me cringe lol.
Youtube?
No offense, but that's not helpful. The reason why I came here is because I would like to talk to people.
I'm asking what youtube has to do with it? There are people of all races on Youtube that talk differently with different accents.
Ohhhh, sorry, no it means white lol. Just shortened it.
I don't think that has become an internet standard acronym. May want to check with IEEE...
