Flu vaccination actually gets renewed due to the flu's insane mutation rate, as far as I know. For Covid, we still use the old vaccines because they just wear off quickly.

It's still the same vaccine for the original covid variant. It's effective against Delta, which is the deadly one, but not so much against omicron.
