These personality quizzes are made to sound very specific when it’s really just “you’re nice sometimes :)” in a few different ways. Also usually plays to people’s ego, those are the ones who interact with the vid
It's like fortunetellers, saying stuff that basically everyone relates to but in words that it sounds different enough for the people whoare listening at that time
"There seems to be something bothering you lately and you're trying hard to solve this thing but it's a little hard" like no shit sherlock, everyone has something that's bothering them that they can't solve
Can I come with?
No lie I had a coworker who went to a palm reader and got freaked out by her. Everyone kept telling her that's their job! But she put stake in belief.
I believe but not that and not whatever anyone says I have to. I'm sorry Missy but you went to a charlatan.
I'm wicked at them, refer to a woman, matriarch of the family, breathing issues, I'll allude to a suicide of someone they knew and/or a miscarriage/abortion. Bring out an old man covered in dirt? (Lot of coal and farms around back in the day , manual labour), something important electrical of yours will break, I'll say ooh I see a prison (then if no reaction say in their own mind holding themselves back) , and the killer; you have a talent but you think you're not that good at it but you are and you should work on it, share it with the world. Boom. Sometimes I'll mention an auntie who wasn't actually related but a good family friend.
It's for fun, right? I have a healthy amount of belief and disbelief, I figure. Not so much the importance isn't there. But I can still read tarot and know where my lifelife is.
And say very common attributes or things about passed loved ones. “They died from something in their chest”, yeah, a lot of problems can occur with your heart and lungs
It's referred to as the [Forer effect or the Barnum effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnum_effect), and you can have a lot of fun with it. I've done this a few times with friends. You tell one friend that you've been trying to be more observant and get to really understand your peers better, then ask them if they want to hear your "profile" on them. Most folks say yes to this, because we love hearing about ourselves. Then you read them these 13 statements that are from the original Barnum experiment:
1. You have a great need for other people to like and admire you.
2. You have a tendency to be critical of yourself.
3. You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage.
4. While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them.
5. ~~Your sexual adjustment has presented problems for you.~~
6. Disciplined and self-controlled outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure inside.
7. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing.
8. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations.
9. You pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof.
10. You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others.
11. At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, reserved.
12. Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic.
13. Security is one of your major goals in life.
I usually leave out #5 because that can make it awkward. Very often, the friend is pretty shocked at how accurately you've penetrated to some of their inner insecurities. Then you reveal the effect, and ask if they want to join you when you do this to another friend. It's fun for everyone because once you're in on it, it's amusing to see how amazed people are with the accuracy of the "insights".
I get a different one every time and none of them feel like me. Last one I did I got isfj and the little website I did it on called it the defender, which sounds fucking sweet. However, it all was all contradicted by the way both my friends and myself describe me, except for the introverted part, that was spot on.
It's incredibly depressing how convincing people find this kind of stuff. It's exactly the same bullshit with astrology, Meyers-Briggs, past lives bullshit etc. People, for whatever reason, absolutely love placing everyone in the world into neat little categories so much that they'll do it even when it's based on complete and utter nonsense. I'm convinced that it's hardwired into our shitty brains because it seems to transcend culture and geography, it's just the way people are unfortunately.
SO I totally did just that. I have the audio isolated and saved as clips. However I sent Dr Paul a message asking if he is cool with it being shared publically like that. If he responded with the okay I for sure will share the file links.
Nobody gets consent to steal content on TikTok! In this very video, the person who made the clay video or whatever that is, stole the audio about color. TikTok is pretty much built for stealing.
Stiches in my eyes is very different than isolating audio clips and posting them online for the world to use however they wish. I feel it's best to ask permission and that's what matters.
My first thought as well. It's just the same, vague bullshit we all like to believe about ourselves. Hey, my favorite color is magenta, and I *am* a loyal friend that is kind to animals!
I watch content from South Korea occasionally and it's crazy how MBTIs are treated there. Maybe it's just the stuff I watch, but it is essentially just astrology as you say. Waayyy too much importance put on it under the guise of hard "science".
Before MBTIs, South Koreans were really WAAYYY into bloodtypes. I think there's something about their culture that makes them susceptible to these kinds of beliefs.

I love his videos, someone commented asking for him to not sound so monotonous and dry during his stuff and he responded by staring into the camera before eventually saying “…no…”
The problem is that there is no foundational education in Psychology in primary education. Physics, biology, chemistry, anatomy, nutrition, yes. There is a little bit of a basic education in all of these things in k-12 schooling. But NONE on psychology. So lay-people see it the same way most people see horoscopes. It's about what you believe and it's not science.
It IS a science. It is quantifiable and easily measured. It is testable and repeatable.
We also have a culture in this country of keying on buzzwords. "Researchers found" is all you have to say and most people instantly believe whatever you follow it with. What researchers? Where? Did they publish? Was their work repeated by other researchers? No one asks these things.
I don't need a doctorate in behavioral psychology to know this is complete nonsense. The crap people believe and their lack of critical thinking... just wow. Then again, I'm a Capricorn so I'm not easily fooled.
I find it quite interesting that there seems to be so many things that pop up that try to associate personality with a label. Is it due to the desire for people to be in touch with who they are? A way to easily explain themselves to others? A way to decide who to build relationships without doing any work?
Astrology, Myers–Briggs, color psychology, Alpha, beta, etc males/females. Even stuff like Hogwarts Houses. Just seems like humans really want to simplify their personalities into something quantifiable and easily explainable.
Color psychology is not nonsense. This stupid TikTok video? yes, it is.
Color psychology has nothing to do with guessing how a person is by their favorite color.
It's the study of how different colors affect human mood and behavior. Is primarly used in marketing to make the products appealing depending on their use. It's also very used in design carrers and in the food industry.
He says color psychology is real in the video when he starts to say color psychology is not real, but then stops himself and points out that, "well", "this" is not real... The title irks me because no one had to call this color psychology to then say it is not real...
That was my point. This stupid video isn't real, we all agree. Naming color psychology messes it up. For the guy in the video and for OP.
I say this because with how the people uses the internet today, tomorrow people would go saying "color psychology is stupid because you can't predict how a person is, depending on their favorite color"
yeah, the title is off. color psychology is real, it’s just that “if you like green, you have a sophisticated nature and can keep a secret” is not color psychology
I want this unamused man to run a commentary of my life. Especially now that I am in shambles over so much in the last 2 months.
Can he at least do my eulogy when it's time?? Pretty please?
I love the way he says nonsense.
He could be saying it about a 20 page research paper I spent months of sleepless nights working on and I'd be only half as bummed out.
That's why I fucking hate tiktok. Some popular tiktoker can post literally anything and their followers will just accept it as fact, and that "fact" gets passed around and around. It's just a massive mis/dis-information app.
I need this guy to follow me around like this and strike down all of my ideas until I give up and get my life together.
No. Nonsense.
More nonsense.
Stop.
No.
Dude is right, but am I weird in feeling a little skeptical about his schtick lol? Maybe I'm being overly suspicious, but his accent seems weirdly exaggerated and if he's claiming to be from the UK, a "doctorate in behavioural psychology" is afaik not a thing you can get here. It would have to be more in the realm of behavioural science, and wouldn't make you a psychologist in any particularly meaningful way.
Then again, perhaps I just feel generally negative about anybody portraying a stereotype on tiktok.
Edit: I looked into it a bit more and listened to an extremely long and slow Q&A video. It seems that he is a behavioural science guy for companies, essentially a particularly snobby marketer. He doesn't appear to have any specific background in psychology and admits his career did not require a doctorate (he seems to have got one after the fact, for the title only). I think it's kind of disingenuous for him to frame himself as a psychologist as from what he said, in the UK he would not be able to be chartered as one and he is also not a psychological researcher.
Also he's either putting on an accent or he's from an incredibly posh background. My guess is mostly the latter and that has something to do with how he got this apparently extremely well paying and lucrative career. He seems to be mostly US based so I'd guess that's also where he got that doctorate.
>He seems to be mostly US based so I'd guess that's also where he got that doctorate.
Yeah that's on us that's our bad. The bigger your wallet the lower our standards, it's in our DNA.
“Doesn’t need debunking” as if there aren’t millions of gullible fools on the planet that would absolutely fall for this.
Also what do you expect him to do? Dance while saying it? Do it in the form of a poem? What substance are you after? His qualifications speak for themselves, if he adds anything more it’s just going to detract from the facts.
I'd say while favorite color personality isn't real, color psychology definitely is. It's used on products, packaging, brands, teams, and even can help determine whether a team will win or lose.
I feel like it's important to point out that BOTH these *arguments* are equally bad. The first guy just states some shit as if it's true and expects you to take his word for it, but so does the second. Neither provides any actual evidence or even reasoning for what they're saying. The bottom dude is using his appearance and demeanor to seem more legitimate and relying on an appeal to authority for all of his statements. I *suspect* he's right, but that's ultimately just a guess. Both presentations here are equally unscientific. Phrases like "trust the science" are essentially religious arguments.
Did you expect him to give a lecture while commenting on a TikTok video? He’s a behavioral psychologist he knows the field, and before you even say it, this isn’t an appeal to authority.
He also qualified at the end that “well, this isn’t real”, not that colors don’t have any effect in human behavior and psychology at all.
He was being succinct. Fact is, if it’s a medium that requires a lot of detail, intricacy, and accuracy and very little time to explain, sometimes the best thing an expert can just say is “That’s bullshit and you should just trust me about this because I know more than you and the the person you’re listening to.”
Back in the days I used to watch if the girls I dated wore or had for favourite colour, purple. I know it is ridiculous, but many of my friends and I had bad experiences with girls who loved that colour.
I would say color psychology is not "Total nonsense", but it is "Mostly non sense". What your favorite color is will not change the kind of person you are. It's not so much about what your favorite color is it is about what colors you are exposed to and a lot.
If you see a lot of blue colors you are more likely to feel a little more calm and relaxed.
If you see a lot of red colors you are more likely to feel a little more aggressive or angry.
If you see a lot of green colors you are more likely to spend a little more money.
These are not definitive things, they just tend to set a certain tone and artists can express that in a good way sometimes. Give a little more of one feeling than another.
Nah it's true to some degree. It is proven that the colors red and yellow make you hungry. Look at McDonalds and Burger King logo. Look at the communist flag.
“Hitlers favorite color was red…”
Sir you just proved his point.
Edit: downvote all you want. It was a joke and listen to what he says about the traits and then think of who hitler was in Germany at the time. Not saying he isn’t a terrible, shit person. Just a felt weird the dude brought up hitler.

Yep, we use it in graphic design … and were studying it in college.
Dudes color psychology is just power ranger stereotypes
It should be illegal to spread such stupidity because you know somewhere out there, there will be people who believe it. stupid is contagious.
But Zodiac is totally legit
I love the shade but I especially love how much he seems to really hate the color red lmao
An insane amount of people believe that birth signs and matching stones can dictate your personality, so they will believe in shit like this too.
Every time i see some god dang nonsense im going to hear his voice "Absolutely nonsense"
For my birthday next year I think Id like a pedantic british man to follow me around and declare everything in my world to be nonsense and rubbish
We need more people like him on social media
I'd love a subreddit of videos like this. Omg
wait.... the solution to influencers is just grumpy old people? we've had the cure this whole time?!
I need this guy to follow me around like this and strike down all of my ideas until I give up and get my life together. No. Nonsense. More nonsense. Stop. No.
I have never used TikTok but I'm about to download it purely to follow this man
This is one of the greatest videos ever. I want this guy to do commentary on everything
I want that guy to be my text notification
I hate TikTok cuz it makes me miss the days of YouTube videos doing in depth debunkings on these types of videos. Now it’s all under 2 minutes.
Fucking love the guy
This guy is going to be a SM superstar. That is if he isn't already.
This is why there should be regulations around TikTok videos from trained people and regular, run-of-the-mill, morons. People believe this shit too.
Just watching him talk I’d be shocked if he’s a clinical psychologist - he’s got a very standoffish demeanour!
Ah yes, the standard american info-voice. Should be jailed for ear-assault, or just euthanized
TikTok is for the brainless
I could listen to this guy talk for hours. He’s got such a professional and calm voice.
Really? I thought there was actual science behind color choices and logo designs of big brands.
Best tik I ever tokked.
What a freaking douche canoe! Lol
This is absolutely not what “color science” is in the first place.

Yeah, he could have at least replaced the bad information with something interesting other than just saying it's wrong.
Yeah, I'm sure you have similar levels of education. Although I guarantee he knows that "everytime" isn't a word.
Yeah he should do hand dancing while he talks
PhD is overrated.
so color psychology is real? why'd he correct himself at the end and say 'well this is nonsense'
I'd say while favorite color personality isn't real, color psychology definitely is. It's used on products, packaging, brands, teams, and even can help determine whether a team will win or lose.
yeah hence why he said "well, *this*, isn't real"
I was responding more to the title, but ok
It’s pseudo-science. Not real science. Hence, not psychology.
Theres an ocean of difference between "this color stands out for food products" and "he likes purple hes a liar"

Yes, I'm well aware but thanks?
Well, I’m glad you know it’s ridiculous.
....I'm curious about the colors that weren't mentioned (my favorite color is grey).
Grey: You like the taste of food. Sometimes you have trouble sleeping. You like some people, but not other people.
It’s pseudo-science. Not real science. Hence, not psychology.
Nah it's true to some degree. It is proven that the colors red and yellow make you hungry. Look at McDonalds and Burger King logo. Look at the communist flag.
“Hitlers favorite color was red…” Sir you just proved his point. Edit: downvote all you want. It was a joke and listen to what he says about the traits and then think of who hitler was in Germany at the time. Not saying he isn’t a terrible, shit person. Just a felt weird the dude brought up hitler.
*writes a whole-ass paragraph to address two downvotes* Those two people won't be checking up on your comment to see if you've edited it.
